I thought Au Pair's could only stay for a short while (2 years I think). What are her future plans?
Glad it worked out for you. Good luck
You are correct. And thank you

None of your business really.

How rude of some of you. Imagine my surprise when I log back in after years to find all these mean people leaving crappy comments. I don't owe you any explanations and am not rude for trying to point someone in the right direction. It is however rude to assume or insinuate that somehow I had other means . Or those that Google a time limit. Duh?!?! Good to know you can do research. This post started with an honest question then was left to serve as hope to someone and thanks to a few ugly people is now full of insults and ugly assumptions. Shame on you.

2 years later i just want to update this question for all the nay sayers. My sister in law has been here for almost 2 years now on an Au pair/nanny Visa. we couldn't be happier that she got to play such a big part in my daughters life. We were told there is no way, but that's just not true. There is a way you just got to find it.

your friends with samatha78, i suggest talking with her she might be able to give you some sound advice.

thank you all. however i know we cannot bring her on a family visa however there is a visa to work as a nanny with pay of course however i believe there is 2 options for this which is what i want clarified. we are aware of the stipulation of finding someone here first however we believe we have valid reasoning to bring her. And PLEASE NO MORE this cant be done, if you'v tried and failed then I am happy to hear your experience, but if you just Think you know save it pls.

Does anyone have any experience to share about bringing a ,in this case cousin, over to be a nanny? specifically from dominican rep? im wondering exactly which visa to apply for and what to expect from the process and if anyone has done this successfully. Thanks in advance for the info.

I know when we were waiting for our interview date it took almost 2mths people who got their noa2's after us got an date before us. Sometimes it just happens, but don't stop calling cause if something is not right they only tell you if you call and ask.

amykathleen thank you that is our next plan hopefully it will work!

so is there any other way to get travel authorization than the ap (maybe a stamp or or emergency travel doc)? long story short we are on month 8 waiting for our gc, and we sent in ap 2 mths ago thought it was approved but found out today its not, and need to go back to his country to pick up daughter before school starts. Please no lectures on what we should have done But im grateful in advance for positive forward moving thoughts and advice. thanks in advance.

this is a repeat, but you dont need a lawyer. lol it is easy enough now that you did the hardest work and found visa journey! if you need answers or help just ask someone will have it.

I may have got the number wrong but its the paper they send saying your k1 is approved. And yes we sent the copies to the person going to the interview with his daughter by email.

Hi la unica, the process is way more simple than they try to tell you. we just did it. you can apply for them before his adjustment of status, really anytime after you have a marriage certificate. you call the embassy and request an interview (at this time they may tell you lots of stuff, they are contract employees and have NO idea what they are talking about.) you will quickly receive a date ,the interview is usually 2 mths or so from when you request the date. children have to get the medical including a tb test which requires them to go to the medical twice i think they check the test 3 days later, so plan for 2 trips to medical. we DID NOT attend our interview we sent his daughter and her mother with a copy of his passport, our i294 approval , and most important a copy of our marriage certificate. if we can help more just ask. good luck

we are going dual language route ie: 1/2 the day in english 1/2 in spanish teaching the same content in each language that way she wont fall as far behind while learning the language.

we are in the same position. filed nov 14th transferred in dec and have no word however it shows on the uscis web site that our I-485 petition expires on 6-30-12 so im getting concerned and wonder if anyone knows how I can call and check on this?
-
anything weve sent in seems to take forever to get receipt #'s even when we send it ahead of others in our same process, I think on average it has taken almost 4 weeks to get any response. and a word of advice on the wedding look at options and be ready to plan it quick because this process is full of twists and turns you COULD be done with it in 6 mths but you would have to be one of the very lucky few most it takes about 9 mths to get their fiance here. june is a long shot. But its totally worth it so stay patient but diligent and he will be here sooner than you can imagine!

thx but they were no help. :-(

Hello can anyone tell me the correct phone number to contact to check on our aos application? if it matters it was transferred to csc.
Thank you

Ana and mr tee, thank you. i have seen the site and i now have 2 interview letters, however i have conflicting information on everything from if there is an interview what the fees are, and who needs to attend an interview. the conflicting information is in writing and by phone thats why this post i want to see if anyone has actually completed this process and can give us some insight.

We ended up going to the health department here in chicago after the civil surgeons tried scamming us.they had the civil surgeon there sign everything gave the vaccines all for 40 or 60 having trouble remembering right now. so try the local health dept 1st.

just to clarify I have read the guides ( over and over again til i was blue in the face.). they say only 2 photos are needed which is where my confusion came in because I also read the individual instructions on each form from the uscis, and they state 2 for 3 different forms. So I am sending the 6 thx jaz and mr tee for some great info.

So I am a bit confused on this whole AOS thing, as far as i can tell i have everything ready to go ie.
I-485
-passport copies of K-1 and I-94
-I-294 Approval
-Birth certificate and translation
-marriage certificate
-g-325 with 2 passport photos
-I693 sealed from dept of health
- I-864 with 3 yrs tax returns (self employed)
-I-765
_I-131
and of course a check for 1070.00 to dept. homeland security
But I know some people send photos and a few other supporting doc's however i dont see instructions any where to do so is there something im missing? also is 2 passport photos enough cause it looked like to me that i should send 6 in total which means 4 more than i have right now.
Thanks in advance for the help in clearing this up for me.

Applying to bring family member as nanny

So because I've been living my life I had "other means"? Au pair visas are perfectly legal. Your awfully bold with your very wrong assumptions. I owe you nothing, especially details of a visa you can easily Google. Why is your assumption not that I followed all the steps that are outlined for the Visa? Because you want to be hurtful that's why. Your a jerk.
