  1. I just sent my DS-230 package and I didn't have a cover letter on it. Will that cause the delay of our case? And also I didn't put my birth date on my photo. Will that be a problem? We are trying very hard for me to come in US before Christmas.

In the instructions, it told you to make a cover letter and put your birth date on your photo. How will they be able to know what you sent or the age of the person in the photo without these things?

  2. Subjective? How much are you in for?

Of course $1500 is a lot for a secretary outside of Moscow. But, $1500 is a drop in the bucket for the VJ process. To say his girl is scamming him for $1500 implies she's a pretty lousy scammer. Sure, maybe she got two free holidays from some sucker in the US. But, that doesn't necessarily mean he got scammed.

He already said he hasn't sent her "extra" money. Typically scammers jump at the opportunity to scam their marks for things like tendon surgeries and holidays to Moscow. Nope. I think she's still in it for the biggest scam of all - marriage.

Stick with it OP. Proceed with caution, but not too much. Just don't send extra cash. Get her back to the interview then get her over here. If she flounders, then you'll truly know where you stand.

Yes, subjective. What constitutes a lot of money depends on the person's circumstances. What difference does it make to her what the VJ process costs? As for what I'm in for it's probably not typical. I send nothing. I can pay for what we need as far as the VJ process is concerned right here. Like I said, I hope my intuition is wrong about this.

  3. Those COs are the problem. The decisions they make affect our lives. Don't they have to follow Immigration laws just like the rest of us? They can't just do whatever they felt like doing. They can't just close a case just because they don't feel like going through all the papers. That's unacceptable. Something has to be done about them.

Nobody here knows of any such thing happening. Everything you are reading is speculation and frankly, some of it is downright stupid.

  4. Do IM's have the ability to call cell phones?

I loved Google Voice when they allowed free international texting. I have not used it since they stopped the feature.

Ability? Yes. For someone that needs to talk to a party without a pc or internet connection I understand the benefit.

  5. I really don't understand going through all the trouble of magic jacks and proxies when all the major IM's have the ability to do voice calls. What's the benefit over those?

  6. Well to put this in to perspective I sent her a one-time $1500. $550 of this was for the plane to Moscow, which I can confirm cost this much. $350 for the visa and another $160 for the physical. So right there we are over a grand. Of course the visa was not granted, but it's not entirely too much, and that is the second time. The other time was for our meeting in Egypt. It's not that much in the grand scheme of things. She has never, I repeat NEVER, asked for money.

I'm just going to hope my intuition is wrong and Chris' is right, because my intuition is really making me nauseous.

  7. See I am really trying to give here the benefit of the doubt too. I don't want to be all investigative on her, but at the same time I need to ask her, but also do the leg work myself. She is 11 hours ahead of me here in PA, so when she was leaving for the airport we talked for 10 minutes at 4 in the afternoon here, 0300 her time. She was going to the airport. It is about an hour train ride, and her plane was leaving early. I can ask her for her ticket, but this could tick her off a little. I think it would tick me off as well.

I mean she arrived Wednesday sometime and then had to find the medical building and do a physical, then be ready for an interview the next day and find the embassy. The problem with calling the clinic is I do not speak Russian. so might be a little useless. ha ha. I would have much rather went a day or two in advance as well, but she works hard, and I know she got to Kemerovo late last night, then went to work today.

I think the biggest thing now is not to question her trust, but to question what we need to do now. Of course I have questions of why this and why that, but what's done is done and we both have to work through this and get to the next step. So tonight I will call the embassy and try to get her interview rescheduled, not worry about the vaccination record, or maybe even ask them about this, maybe think about going to Moscow to meet up with her, and just try to work through this. I think I am getting warped with thinking she is not being true when I know she is. I do not have ALL the facts just yet, so I think I need to get these first and move from there.

Sorry, but I'm confused. She went to the medical and instead of staying the additional day for the interview took a flight home and was at work the next day?

  8. On question C-17 on the I-130 where it says list husband/wife and all children of your relative. I realize I would put my name on there but would I list my children/his step children in that spot? The other question is now that the I-94 is being phased out...he didn't get one this time when he came in through Dublin, on the application where it wants you to list an arrival/departure number since he's still in the country what should I put there? N/A? Everything else is easy peasy those were the only 2 questions I had...so far anyway :) Any info would be greatly appreciated.

C-17 is asking for information about the relative, so it would be a list of the beneficiaries children, not the petitioners.

  9. SMR says it is not allowed for rape or incest either.

This is the whole problem with trying to apply "morals" to LAWS and forcing them on everyone. Who's morals? Mine? Slim's? Christian? Which Christian? This is all nonsense. NON SENSE!

Anyone that wants the government to FORCE someone else's morals on them by LAW is an idiot.

"Pro-life" people are rarely "pro-life", they are anit-abortion. Say so. I once had a debate with an animal rights activist on the use of bait for bear hunting. I asked if they favored hunting bears WITHOUT bait? No. Hunting deer? No. Hunting quail? No. So they are aginst ALL hunting? YES. Then SAY SO! Stop trying to be reasonable when you are not reasonable. At least be HONEST.

    "Pro life" people usually support...

Right to kill someone rapng your wife

    Death penalty

    So much for pro-life.

I am PRO-choice....I am also ANTI-Abortion. Which means I am REALLY Pro-choice. I would never want or seek to have my wife have an abortion (except for rape and after I shot the ####### full of large caliber holes if I had the chance) BUT I do not seek to have the government apply MY choices to YOU.

Everyone is free to have their religious beliefs and live by whatever codes or laws or rules they want to apply to themselves...just keep it to yourself and leave me out of it.

To say that laws aren't based on any morals is really absurd. There is an argument to be made concerning when the rights of a person begin that has nothing to do with religion and well within a Libertarian philosophy. The reason a person can not legally bash your skull in and take your stuff is based on a moral concept whether you want to acknowledge it or not.

  10. I take issue with this every time you post that the most recent year's tax return is required. When I read the I864 instruction, it say you can just send in transcripts. It makes no mention of the tax return requirement. Even when you fill out the form, it says "required photocopy or transcript." I'm not trying to be argumenative. I just want to know what you are basing this on.

Personally, I have all 3 years tax return and transcripts. I plan to send in both to NVC and ship copies of all to my wife so she'll have them with her during interview if the need arises.

I've also read somewhere that an employment letter needs to be sent, but I see nothing about that in the instructions either.

  11. Touched - 8 characters

    Updated - 8 characters

Seems if everyone called it the same thing as USCIS it might be a little less confusing and it's not more effort to type it out. Even if it wasn't confusing, at least then everyone could be answering questions about a different word. Mix it up....add some spice to the forums.

    oops...forgot how to count...7 characters...wow!
