  1. Hi, everyone! I have a few questions about rescheduling biometrics appointments, especially from those who may have experience with it. My husband and I just sent in our 1-751 package, and it should be received by USCIS on Monday. After looking at the general timeline of when people get their biometrics appointments scheduled, I’m worried about booking some upcoming travel we had in mind.

I am currently pregnant and due with our first child in October. We both want to have a vacation before then, specifically one with his parents in his native country. Although, he visits his friends and family in Mexico several times a year, I usually join him in December. Since that can’t happen this year and because we would like to have this time together (and to have this experience with his parents since they don’t travel a lot) before the baby comes, we are really trying to get something planned. We are looking at traveling mid-May to Cancun because it isn’t too hot yet and the rates are cheaper. Also, another big issue is that I personally do not want to be too far along in my pregnancy making this travel. I’ll be around 18-20 weeks during the time we’re considering booking a week.

I’m concerned that we will book the condo and the air travel though and then receive the biometrics letter giving us an appointment during that week. I’ve read about trying walk-ins, but is it really difficult to re-schedule and especially for a purpose such as this? Do they frown upon it and does it delay the process a great deal?

I told my husband the worst case scenario is we just have to wait until we receive the biometrics appointment date, but I can tell he is disappointed. But I did want to check and see if anyone here has some thoughts to share about it.

    Thanks so much!

  2. Hi guys,

We are trying to prepare our taxes for the year and still trying to figure out the best outcome. It's all so confusing! Oscar moved to the US in mid-October and has made about $21,500 in US dollars from his job in Mexico last year. I, his US Citizen wife, have made about $36,000. Right now we have the tax forms filled out as married filing jointly with the exclusion of his income? Without too much trouble, can anyone tell me from their experience if they think married filing separately would give a better return or if married filing jointly with the foreign earned income credit instead of the exclusion work better? Thanks in advance for any advice you have.

  3. my fiancee is having her interview next week on wednesday and she's coming here on the 16th (friday). i have to buy her ticket 1 week before, that means friday. the one way ticket is about $3000 and the round trip ~$1500. now what i want to know is if it's illegal to buy a round trip and never use the flight back. will she have problems at POE? or are there any issues i should be aware of when buying the round trip?

    thank you

It is not illegal. I read that a congressman did that in order to protest against these airline practices. However, airlines have policies where they could put you on a "black list" and then not allow you to travel with them. I think this could happen if they find out that you are doing it on purpose and several times, anyway, one always can change our mind and decide not to flight for other reasons.

  4. Hi everyone,

I wanted to know your opinions based on the situation I am in. Currently, I am working for the Mexican branch of a US company as a Mexican employee. My job is as a computer programmer, and I am in discussions with my company to continue my contract as a Mexican employee while living in the US (at least during the time I will wait for EAD). I would continue being paid the salary I have been making as a Mexican employee. However, both my company and myself want to make sure this scenario would be legal. Has anyone else been in this type of situation or know for certain its legality?

I did research the forums and saw many who said you could work for a foreign company while in the US, but since it is a US company with a Mexican branch, I wasn't sure if my case would be the same. Thanks in advance for any advice you guys can give me.

  5. Hello guys, I have a question regarding my fiance visa and I hope you can help me again. As you know besides the yellow folder you receive as part of the package, the one-time entry visa is stamped in your passport.

The problem is that my passport will expire some months after my arrival to the US, and I thought I could extend it, but in the mexican passports office they told me that I have to cancel this in order to get the new one.

Would be fine if I have both passports with me at the entry port on my arrival?

I was thinking to renew it in the US but I don't know how hard can be or if it this service is available in many cities.

    Thanks for your help

  6. My guess is that it is packet 3, or it is the letter from the NVC saying your case has been sent to CDJ. Nicole scanned what the letter looks like a few weeks ago. You can find the thread here http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/312996-what-does-cdj-invitation-letter-packet-3-look-like/page__p__4702586__fromsearch__1#entry4702586 and the letter here Sosascpic Tell your fiance to look at these, and see if the letter he got is either. If it is packet 3, you don't want to lose that because it might not arrive in Mexico. Hope this helps.

  7. I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM, I TRIED SCHEDULING MY INTERVIEW FOR JULY 20 BUT IT WOULDNT LET ME, IT ONLY HAD DATES FOR FROM JUNE 14-30TH. IT WAS JUNE 1ST OR 2ND WHEN I TRIED, AND THEN I TRIED AGGAIN A COUPLE DAYS AGO AND THE JULY DATES WERE AVAILABLE, SO IM PRETTY SURE IF U TRY NOW IT WILL LET U SCHEDULE FOR MID JULY. I ALSO WANTED TO ASK YOU. WHAT HOTEL ARE U PLANING ON STAYING AT???

We finally got our interview scheduled too for the beginning of July. We are staying at La Quinta based on the reviews here and the Juarez forum.
