  1. We are in the Austin area and he couldn't apply for the SS# until he had the AOS approval (our EAD was never processed before the AOS). As far as the Driver's License I'm not sure, but you can get a ID card as long as your VISA has not expired in your passport. Take your birth certificate, passport and go for it.

As far as the medical, you will need to have another medical done here. I can't remember the Form # off hand, but you willl most likely need more shots. We were told not to file for the AOS without the medical form which was completed in Texas.

  2. My immediate family was able to talk to him on the phone, before and after my visit. One thing I love about my immediate family, whoever I choose they accept him, so my introducing him to them was easy. On the other hand the others are a trip, they have something to say about everything and everybody. I keep them near but not real close!!! But I had faith in GOD to know that he muzzle all the negatives, so I don't get the comments, but I'm sure when we are not around, they have a field day!!!

I think if the FH's or hubby's show their true love to towards you, then the family has nothing else but to love him. Most of my problems were with the outsiders, even a minister from my church.

  3. :star: I hope its the fashionable side he looking at..roflmbooooo  ahahahh..dont pay me any mind..ahahhahah..but you know you right!! ahahhaha

I'm sure he is looking at the whole package and he seals the deal upon your arrival and vice-versa.....lol When I had travelled to see my Sweetee, my family was nervous, my GOD had my back and I was like traveling to the grocery store or something. An awesome experience of being able to know someone via emails and phone calls. But the ultimate experience is meeting the one your heart desires, the one GOD allowed you to choose............ I just can describe the feeling when you actually get there.....

  4. then its like..OH MY GOD..will you know me? Will i know you? cuz yanno pics and stuff make ya look different...ahahah..so he try be grown and say..OH I WILL KNOW YOU BY YOUR LIPS.a.ahahahha..typical man huh? ahhah..I said..JIDE YOU CRAZY..ahhahah...

I wouldn't worry, he will definitely know you......... Don't think for one minute he is not studying every aspect of your picture in this waiting time. I'm so excited for you and Jide.

    Be Blessed!!!

  5. I know this is a double standard even before I say it, but I have a problem going to work everyday and letting a man stay unemployed in my house. (please don't crucify me for it)

Well I want to encourage you to hold your peace on the job issue. My sweetee has been here since Sept. 2005, we are just now getting the approval (was not our expected wait) and he can now go and apply for the SS card.

By no means am I crucifying you, but you must know, my sweetee has been miserable not being able to work. So you may take the approach you mention, but by all means you will need to encourage him on the wait. It won't be easy for you or him, but this is the way it goes. On the other hand, if you can find some "Free" training classes he can attend that doesn't require work papers that may help out. But other than that you may be waiting. I would just mentally prepare for the wait on the work papers. I actually found several things around the home, that I wanted done, to ease his mind (painting, planting trees, etc.)

Good luck on your journey and I hope it is a speedy one.....

  6. Things are going well with us . . . we've had our wedding ceremony. It was beautiful . . . I'll have to post some pictures!

I just want to encourage everyone here to hold onto WHY you love your spouse/fiance and let that and prayer carry you through.

I'm glad to hear your wedding went well and look forward to seeing pics. And your absolutely right prayer is the key in the trying times.

I read something in a spring cleaning marriage article, that you should avoid the same time and places where disagreements start. Make a point to do a appreciation/praise/thankfulness instead around that time and place.

Times may be trying but well worth the endurances.

  7. Re always used to write his name that way and is why we had a problem with his passport on the first interview. Now he is sure to write it in the "American" way.

Oh do I understand.... I keep having to remind my hubby the same thing. They just need extra time to get use to the American way.

  8. We had our AOS interview on yesterday, which was a success by the way...:dance::dance:

But the officers can not pronounce the names and if you don't pay attention you will miss your appointment. The other issue the officer had was with the way the name is written....

Family (last) name middle name first name

    Has anyone else experience this???

  9. We had our interview yesterday in the San Antonio office. We were there less than an hour. The officer called us back and swore us in....

She only asked a few questions............................ how we met, who traveled to meet whom, asked if he has helped anyone enter the country illegally??? Asked for any document proving we live together, we didn't have any because he hadn't been able to get his SS card.

She asked for pictures of our wedding and made copies of them. Stated she was approving the stay and that we need to work on building the proof that we actually live together. Stamped his passport and sent us on our way.

Our appt was at 2:30 (she was prompt) and we were on our way about 3:15..:dance::dance::dance::dance::dance::dance::dance::dance:

Thank GOD the phase is over....
