  1. My fiance and I just received our NOA2 March 31 and our petition should be at the Peru consulate at any time now. I have been searching prices of plane tickets, because I will be traveling to Peru for the interview. I know there are a lot of threads already about buying roundtrip tickets instead of one way. I will need a roundtrip ticket starting in United States. We can buy my fiance a roundtrip ticket as well, but does his ticket have to go from Peru to United States and back to Peru? Or is it possible to buy two roundtrip tickets from United States to Peru and back? I'm not sure how to do this and still allow us to be on the same plane, sitting next to each other on the trip to United States. I'm sure I'm thinking wayyyy to into this, but any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Hello, Where are you flying from? We had our interview on Tues and the visa was ready the following Monday, so if you can stay a week after you can fly together. It's very difficult to buy his ticket in advance, you never know what delays can come up. If you must, I would buy a ticket with a low change fee if possible. The only airline that I know of that does not charge extra for a one way ticket it Spirit, they fly from Lima to Ft Lauderdale on Sun and Wed right now....they will have daily flights in May.

  2. I received the hard copy today. It says that the petition was approved and forwarded to the listed consulate. Do the forms go straight ot consulate or to the NVC and then consulate? Any one with experience on this? Thanks.

Congrats!! It goes to NVC...gets assigned a case number and then forwarded onto the embassy. They send it DHL to the embassy and may send it electronically also. You can call the NVC in a few days and see if they have it in the system...our was only there for a fews days. Good Luck!

  3. My fiancee is about to send me her I-134 and supporting documents. She intends to send A letter from her employer, 2 payroll checks, savings/checking account information, photocopies of her mortgage balance, photcopies of her Life insurance and retirement balances, photocpy of house appraisal, Last 3 IRS Statements.

Is it ok for her to send photocpies, or will I need the original documents for my London Interview?

Copies are sufficient for all you stated, except I would try to have an original signature on the letter from the employer. Good Luck!

  4. I was wondering what mail carriers you guys have used to mail the visa stuff to your fiance's in South America (Peru, specifically).

I want to keep in mind speed as well as price. I've used FedEx there once and paid $90 for quick shipping and it ended up taking 2 weeks (missort)!.

The things I sent USPS never arrived....they are lost somewhere in Serpost. DHL has worked perfectly...2-4 days...$100 for 4lbs...from here to Peru. From Peru to here was $50 for an envelope with documents.

  5. I just about have all of the necessary documents and proof that my fiancée will need for her interview in Manila and will be sending it to her next week via FedEx.

I really hate having to send my original copies of proof of meeting for fear of lose. :crying:

I really hate having to send my tax information and pay information for fear of lose and theft. :crying: :crying:

I really really love my fiancée so I will do it anyway. (L)(F)(L)(F)(L)

    John

I have never had an issue with DHL. Both companies have a good track record, so you will probably be fine :)

  6. Hello Folks, I have a concern. I am doing my part with sending out the I-134 Affidavit of Support form however my LAST Name on my TAX RETURNS/W2's are not spelled the same say as in my US Passport. My SSN card last name is misspelled by one letter hence it is not the same as in my Passport. Is this something to be worried when my fiancee goes in for the interview? anybody had the same experience? THank you in advance!

I would be concerned. Maybe write a letter of explanation that can be provided only if this is questioned? I do not think you need to show your Social Security card. However, if they notice the name spelt different on your passport vs tax returns, it may be questioned. If you were boin in the USA, maybe it's possible your last name on your birth certificate matches? Best of Luck.

Just make sure you update the letter of intent with a new date and maybe some additional statement and intentions. I wasn't aware the DS-157 is required! I wonder if it's consulate specific...I will bring just in case. great post!!

  8. It is doing this because you downloaded the form. Fill it out directly from a live internet link and it should work fine...like from your embassy site.

    Thanks!!

You know, I'm on a MacBook with Safari, but another user suggested that the form only seems to really print properly with Internet Explorer so I didn't even try it on my computer. I ended up doing both the digital forms (the 156K and the 160?) at work... maybe try changing browsers?

Thanks!!! I was able to do it on the Mac using firefox :)

  9. Hello,

In the DS-156K form...it has 'evidence of engagement to your fiance' as one of the required attachments. What evidence is needed? I think my fiance has the engagment ring receipt, not that he wants me to see how much it was :P What else can be attached to show evidence of engagement?

    Thanks!

  10. Hi, I'm just starting this process and I have two simple questions about filling out the I-129F that hopefully you all can help me with:

    1) I'm almost embarrassed to be asking this one. I see a lot of mentions of avoiding stupid mistakes like not signing the application, and yet I don't see any place on the forms where a signature is required. Am I missing something? We've both signed our letters of intent.

    2) I've been living in Peru for the past two years but am moving back to the States this month, where I'll look for a job. I'll be living with my parents until I find one. Should I put my parents' address as my fiancee's intended address in the United States? Assuming I do find a job within the next few months, our actual address will likely be on the other side of the country. Will this cause any problems or delays later on?

    Thanks for all your help!

    Hello,

Yes, you need to sign the I-129F and you also need signatures on the intent to marry letters. There is also a signature line on the bottom of the G325A form. I don't think you will have any problem with the intent to live address, however make sure you can receive mail at the address you put for yourself....you can do an address change if needed.

  11. Hi Vjers,

I am filing for the K-1 and K-2 at the same time. Can my 9 year old son (K-2) fly and pass through POE without the K-1 accompanying him? He will travel a few months after my fiance arrives and will be escorted by another family member.

I am trying to determine if the K-2 can fly without the K-1 or if the K-1 MUST accompany him through POE. The K-2 does have his own passport.

    Thanks!!

  12. Congrats! So far for me it has been moving Super Fast. I got the NOA2 email on 2/11....NVC received my info on 2/16 and they sent it out to the embassy TODAY! The Lima Embassy schedules interviews within a month, so very fast now! I haven't received the hard copy NOA2 in the mail yet. You can call NVC in a few days to see if they have your info in the system. They will ask for the email of both parties and the embassy mail email the information as well as send it. Like Al said....you can email or call the London embassy to ask specific questions. I believe you do need certificates from your home country and England. Some embassies allow you to pick up the information they send out also. Good Luck!
