  1. Hi All,

My Fiances son, 8 years old, will be coming on a K-2 after my fiance comes. We would like him to be here in time for next school year start, Aug 2011. My concern is when to have the K-2 issued. We have not yet received the NOA2 for the K1...I am hoping soon or at least it will be completed by Dec/Jan. I believe if we have the K2 issued the same time as the K1, then the K2 has 6 months to use. If the K2 is not issued at the same time, we have 1 year to have it issued. We would prefer to go back to Peru to escort the son into the US....my concern is that my Fiances AOS will not be processed in time thus not being able to travel in/out of the US. Exactly what document allows the beneficiary to travel in/out of the US and what is the time frame for issuance? Of course we will be married ASAP, but the date is up in the air not knowing exactly when the K1 will be approved. Please let me know any thoughts or if you have experienced anything similar. Thank You!

  2. You should not have any problems going through other countries as your just passing through..check with each of the countries laws before purchasing..of course. The K1 will allow entry in the US one time only. I used to always fly from Ft Lauderdale to Lima on Spirit Air, but now the only have flights on Saturday and Sunday. LAN and American have decent prices sometimes direct from Lima to Miami. Taca also is sometimes cheaper from Lima to Miami, but connects once. I know delta goes direct from Lima to Atlanta also.

    Congrats and good luck!

  3. Hi everyone, I have viewed posts for the last 3 months. I only registered today to encourage everyone and share the good news.Vermont is rolling again!!! Whoo hoo This morning I saw on the website my NOA 2 dated 10\1\10 is in the mail. My NOA1 was July 2nd.Be encouraged! Yours is on the way.thank u to everyone who has ever posted anything! Knowing others were in the same boat has helped me maintain my sanity in the past three months! Happy dance ;)

CONGRATS!!! How does the NOA2 display on the USCIS website? Is it in the decision area?

  4. Yes, the best case is to have a job that provides insurance. The medical insurance amount is deducted each week from your paycheck....for example $20 per week. When you go to the doctor you may have to pay a co-pay, maybe $15-20, but everything else is mostly covered. There are many insurance plans, it depends on which ones your company offers and which one you select. It may be a good idea to ask about health insurance when interviewing for jobs. On my insurance plan, if I have a baby, I pay $300 and everything is covered for the baby. I can't comment on Moore, I don't pay any attention to him.

  5. Each airline has it's own pet policy. You can check the airline websites to see what they allow. You can do it yourself for much cheaper, of course. Some airlines have dedicated space in the cargo area for pets and they have a pet team that walks them before/after the flights and makes sure they have water. Some airlines allow you to bring your dog as a carry on, if he/she is small enough to fit in a carry/crate under the seat in front of you. This website may be helpful....http://www.tripswithpets.com/petpolicies.asp...I think for flights into Lima... Detla, Continental, and LAN(my favorite) are your options.

    Good Luck!

  6. My Fiances child is 8 years old. He will follow in about 6-8 months after my fiance is approved. Has anyone been through this process in Peru? Advice to offer? Does the K2 need to be at the K1 interview if following? Does the other parent need to be involved with the process, in what aspect? Will the AOS process be identical for the K1 and K2. I assume this way will be more expensive vs the child coming at the same time. Thanks to all !
