I must admit I read your post and thought the same thing as Mountain Climber. You see, as a resident of California and a self-employed small business owner, I am taxed to death. My medical insurance premiums are sky high and will increase considerably when I add my husband. You see, I signed an affidavit of support for him and I believe that makes ME responsible for his care, not the tax payers. If he needs care that we cannot afford here in the US, I will have him return to Australia to receive it. Will it be a hardship on us, yes, but until I can add him to my insurance when he gets his social security number here, that is the way it is.
I am sorry your husband lost his job, there are mandatory insurance options available to him. Yes they will cost money, but they are there. If he can’t afford them, then maybe you should go to Thailand with the father of your child and start building your life there. I am sorry that the cultural shock would be hard for him to adjust to in Thailand, I imagine it is just as rough on you without family here to support you. If he is not working here now, why not go to Thailand together and have your child there? The cost will be much less, you will have your families support and your husband can learn about your child’s culture before it is born.
I think that you will find some resentment from people here who are struggling to pay their medical premiums and have agreed to be financially responsible for an immigrant to learn that others can just come her e and receive free care for themselves and their unborn child. Will medicad be responsible for the Child’s healthcare once the child is born?
These are some of the reasons California is going bankrupt. Why I have to pay extra for my child to have a science or art class after school, because the schools cannot afford to provide them. Why I had to spend over $100 on school supplies to give to my child’s classroom because of budget cuts.

Yes - it would be an issue.
If a form asks you how many children you have - and you say "2" when you really have "4" - you just misrepresented yourself and opened yourself to bans for immigration. You have to answer the question in the context of the form/question.
For example - the I129F question 13 says to list all your children - it doesn't specify only the ones coming with you. So if you have 4 children, you would write their 4 names.
The affidavits will ask how many people you will sponsor. If only 2 children are coming with you, than that is what you write on that form for the count.

There is no cause or gain, it's a forum and a place to exchange some ideas. Is it no surprise that those doing the ridiculing are usually the same people who disagree with me on whatever point is being made. Why is a chart grounds for ridicule considering the context of a forum? Why is illustrating something like health care cost on a chart to be mocked in a thread about health care. That is what educated people do, how you have legitimate discussion - using data and facts.
How is my opinion creating drama? If I feel the earth is flat, then that is my opinion. That should not result in an ambush or threads like the other one being created.
I don't care if I am ridiculed, as I don't come on here to get the love and attention of VJ or to form some coalition. I don't need it. I come to debate points. What's clear is that some people are incapable of having such discussions and prefer to play games like scheming on the mods. I have no problem with that, just stay our of legitimate threads.

I'm not really sure what to say here. I feel like the same people who complain or attack complainers are the same people who attack people for no reason at all. Someone could say they like the color pink and then they're attacked for liking pink. The person who attacked someone for liking pink decides they like pink and someone attacks them, then it's against the TOS all of a sudden and there's outrage nothing is done about it. VJ is strange that way, but it's not going to change.

As much as I think it would benefit VJ by dropping OT, it won't happen. The ad words imprints are too valuable. A consistent TOS would be fantastic though.

There seems to be a lot of bitching and crying about the mods and VJ from those who have been on here for a while and basically don't agree with how VJ operates. Nobody buying the house is going to care about anything except who is on the deed and whether there is a lein or mortgage. If her name is not on the deed, there isn't anything she can do.
The only person who can put her name on the deed is the present deed-holder who would file a quitclaim at the recorder's office.
I am in agreement with Bobby+Umit about classes. My wife took one. But the poster being referenced has numerous posts elsewhere with a relentless focus on nothing but money, and has presented VAWA as a process to abuse in order to get money and a job in the US.
So the issue is more the intentions of the person taking the class and not the fact VAWA is spoken to in such classes.
