Update - applied for my stepson's passport with Mom as the qualifying USC.  Used Mom's citizenship cert, stepson's birth certificate and greencard as documentation  and a passport arrived in under three weeks with regular processing.

My 16 year old's visa had his first and middle names reversed so I'm making an infopass appointment to have it corrected on his green card. He arrived 2 weeks ago and is now in his second week of high school. The appointments available are all during school hours and I don't want to take him out of school and make him fall further behind. Does he need to be there if I have all the documetation?

 Sorry typo. Yes I meant I sent the Australian embassy a copy of my children's birth certificate and a copy of my Australian passport. Send they sent me my kids' Australian citizen by descent certificates.

I have both US and Australian citizenship. No problem.

I even sent the US embassy photocopies of my children's US birth certificates and got the Australian Citzenship by Descent.

Update - My husband petitioned for my children on my behalf. Both children were approved, even though my daughter was 22 when the interview was scheduled. Both kids are here in the US.

I originally petitioned for my wife as a K-1 and she has been a US citizen for 1.5 years. I have been a citizen for 15 years.

I petitioned for her son as IR-2 (stepchild) before my wife became a citizen, he is now 16 years old and recently arrived in the US.

Could he get citizenship through my wife or myself? I tried to read through the Guide to Naturalization but got thoroughly confused.

Our case was not transferred to CSC even though we are in Southern California. We're glad it wasn't transferred because we got the greencard in hand 3 months after I-485 filing, including RFE for a second biometrics due to faint fingerprints. We are also K1 AOS.

Your greencard production should be ordered in around 4-5 days, all you need to do is relax and wait for the card to arrive.

My wife received the permanent residence status notification email on 8/9/12, the actual letter arrived 2 days later. We received the email that Greencard production was ordered 8/14/12 and the email that the Greencard was shipped out today 8/15/12, and we expect to receive it in a matter of days.

Sometimes it's more stressful to go through forums and subconsciously come up with all kinds of doomsdays scenarios. You should have no problems.
