Cuba is more Communist than Socialist.. Canada has some aspects of Socialism with regards to needed services but there is free enterprise as well.

" I miss my family. I miss Canada. I miss my friends (though some of them have moved elsewhere as well, so that will never be the same). I miss snow, I miss Tim Hortons, I miss hockey, I miss the Canada flag, I miss people being polite, I miss french signs (go figure), and bilingual packaging. And yes, hearing the national anthem almost makes me want to bawl like a baby. lol"
I can COMPLETELY relate to how you feel! This is exactly what I had been trying to say but failed so terribly! We get snow here, but it doesn't feel the same , the "polite" factor is huge with me... And the french signs and packaging. I'm actually quite good now with French now that i've left Canada, go figure!!
    Great post!

I don't normally weigh in on topics concerning U.S. vs Canadian health care, however, I wanted to share an experience very similar to the woman speaking in the audio clip. I am Canadian, just moved to the U.S myself and have a very close friend who had this procedure about two years ago; She began the process in late 2005 early 2006, therefore waited approximately two years for the procedure.
I can't speak for the woman in the clip however, she does have every right to seek assistance from another doctor if she feels her situation is life threatening. If her doctor had deemed her situation life threatening, she would have been placed in high priority and would not have waited as long as she has.
The wait times for elective surgery are longer however this is because they are cosmetic in nature.

If these machines and the suplemental pat downs actually did make us safer, I would support them wholehearted. However, they dont' actually make us safer, they only give a false sense of security to the ignorant masses. Intelligence is how we have been able to thwart terrorist attacks.

What makes an engagement any less important??
I can only speak for myself here, but we had thought of getting married beforehand and proceeding with a CR1 but this was the better route for us....
I don't think it's fair to say what's more important here, we are all going through a VISA process......

She doesn't have an extensive criminal history.
I have never been denied at the border, nor has my husband. I have never been arrested, do not have a criminal record, do not take drugs and am in perfect health.
The lady who interviewed me was very vague about why she thought that if she gave me the visa it would be denied at the border. She just wouldn't tell me and she was not answering any of my questions!
Okay let me tell you why I think we are running into these problems....my husband has quite a criminal history. He is in prison right now and will not be released for another 2 years. Since the initial petition, we made it very clear that
