  1. Hi, just went online to find USCIS form I-751 has an expiry date of 01/31/13 which is the end of this month. Are they changing/updating the form?

Just wanted to know as I'm ready to file my packet on February 08, 2013 (90 days before my green card expires.)

Don't want to send the packet too early as a friend of mine got hers returned last year for that reason.

I feel like being rushed too because today I received a reminder mail from USCIS advising me to file immediately. LOL!

  2. Hi guys, I've been googling around and can't seem to find the info that I need. I just need a place near the US Embassy that will be open by 5am. I'll be with my dad for his interview but I know I can't come inside to accompany him, so I was thinking of hanging out in one of the restaurants near the embassy. If you know one, best with wifi so I can just chat or go on FB to pass time, then that would be perfect!! Send me a message, thanks! :)

  3. Thank you very much for the replies. I will update this thread after my mom has gone through the interview somewhere around early next year. :)

Good luck dear, my dad's interview is on the 9th Dec hope he does pass as I want him to be there on my wedding day since my mom's in heaven already. My suggestion is to complete all the forms and gather all the things that your mom needs. January & February is already full when I checked the online visa interview scheduler that manila embassy has. Hopefully you get an early March interview for your mom :)

  4. I greatly appreciate all your replies. Thank you so much. Yes, I indeed keep track of it on the air 21 website. Unfortunately, it still says tracking not found. Im very worried now because we already bought my plane tickets for the US this September 27. Im crossing my fingers that hopefully I will have my visa on hand next week.

    Try this website :)http://www.af2100.com/tracking/usembassy/track.jsp

  5. I asked her and she explained to me the same thing you explained to me. The other person who got engaged is also on my FB. Thank

Is your name August 7 2009 or is July 8 2009?

    Ooooh lucky guess :)

Name means July 07, 2009 - we became an official couple that day. And we might get married on 11-10-10

  6. To whom dorz? Hahah..ageh 2nd ka na ds day..gnkkalsan ak iyo.. Hahah.. Well..congratz nla n advance dorz..heheh

    -- Thanks

    *translates*

Oh Facebook! Then it might just say that she's the second to get engage in that day :) Maybe another friend of that friend who replied got engaged too. And maybe asking why everybody is getting married. :innocent: I dunno why, but WE or I personally love relationship updates in FB! It's intriguing and you're just too excited for the one getting married :)

  7. 1. Filipinos (in my experience) will give their age on the day you ask them but will say 30 going 31...(as an example if they are close to their birthday).

    2. Bisaya/Cebuano/ are separate languages of the same linguistic family. Separate and distinct from Tagalog, BUT with a lot of over-lap and common words.

Echoes #1 of this post :) But we get really confused with this Bisaya & Cebuano thing. From what I know Cebuano is a term used for people living in Cebu but their dialect is called Bisaya. Like in Manila, we're called Manilenyos and we speak Tagalog. More to that are people living Iloilo they're called Ilonggos and in Negros they're called Negrense but BOTH speak Hiligaynon. :luv:

  8. My fiancee read on another forum that Dental records and other dental information are necessary for the medical examination. I was wondering if there is any truth to that?

For example, she says that if there was a cavity or a hole in your tooth that it would have to be filled up before going to the medical exam? Is that true?

Any dental information regarding medical exam before interview would be appreciated because I don't know what she's talking about.

    Thanks

Had mine just a week ago. Was just asked if there were permanent teeth that was taken out and if I had any false teeth already. That's it. No dental check up there so no need to worry. :innocent:

  9. He barely looked at a little of the mountain of evidence and denied her with a "blue" form. He told her that she needed phone records and that was all we were missing.

Was it really denied? From what I know a blue slip means that you just need to pass some missing paperworks or from what you've said just copies of phone records. In Manila there has been cases of blue slips that still got a K1 approved visa after submitting what the embassy wanted.

  10. Hi, this might be helpful for some of us who are in the stage of filling out our DS forms that are needed for the interview. I've been asked by couple of VJ members on how to amend or correct the forms once they have been printed. One thing that we're all concerned about is the 2D Barcode on both page 1 and page 3.

I did some research and found this statement on two embassies' websites:

"The information that you submit is NOT stored anywhere. It is also NOT submitted to the Embassy electronically. It is ONLY used to generate a barcode."

    Sources:

    http://london.usembassy.gov/electronic.html

    http://seoul.usembassy.gov/ds_156.html

Although I browsed through the Manila website, there's no mention of the above statement. So correct me if I'm wrong to assume that the statement quoted above MAY BE applicable for US Embassy Manila too.

So, taking the info above, the old information (the original one you filled out that has error/s on it) is not stored electronically anywhere. Meaning, if you made errors in filling out your DS-156 form, if you want to amend or correct it, it is possible (and easier too) to just fill out another DS-156 form online. The system will generate another barcode for you and you need to print this new set of of forms.

If you think it will be easier to just edit the PDF file than re-doing it, well the editing capability is disabled on it.

But I was also thinking what if it was MINIMAL error (like: has more space in between letters, or maybe a punctuation, or a letter missing), what are we supposed to do? For this, I need help from those who are done with their interviews. Have you ever tried correcting it with a pen? :help:

    Thanks VJ!

  11. My husband received his AP in 10 weeks from filing AOS. I doubt you can get AP within the first month of applying. I would not take a chance to travel outside the USA.

Take a look at this couple that learned the hard way: Travel w/o AP

OMG, I feel so sorry for her. God bless her. Thanks for sharing and for the reply. I will tell my sister about this. I guess we just need to wait before I could visit her.

  12. Im sorry if Im not much help..All I know is that you can not leave the US untill your AP is approved.

Hi April! It's okay, thanks for replying. It's just paperworks are incredibly complicated. Hit me back on the status/updates of your AP. I might leave by January of next year, so I'm just doing some research and asking around. Thanks again :)

  13. Hi, first of all I'm not sure if I'm on the right category in posting these questions. VJ Admins, you may move this post any time.

I feel like I might have quite a complicated situation and please if any of you have experienced this, pls feel free to comment and give suggestions or tell me what happened in your case.

So here it goes, we're still waiting for the K1 visa interview but I have some questions on advance parole or travelling while waiting for AOS.

My dad will be travelling to FL to attend my wedding under a B2/Tourist Visa. My sister is currently living and is a citizen of Canada. My sister might not be able to attend my wedding. So she is planning for all of us to visit her and her family around two weeks AFTER my wedding. First, I know my husband-to-be won't have any problems crossing the border. Dad has Canadian Tourist Visa as well. My sister will send me an invitation to visit her, but I still don't have my Canadian Visa. BUT let's just say I will be approved to visit..

    My questions are:

    1. Will I be allowed to go with them using Advance Parole?

    2. From what I know, forms are needed to be mailed off to request for AP? How long does it usually take for us to receive any notification back?

BTW, we're only planning to stay in Ontario for maximum of two weeks or maybe less.

    Thank you so much!
