  1. I arrived in the US mid-July this year on a K-1. Got my ticket from Motivation Tours in Makati. It was USD 430 + 245 taxes, with the so-called "First time immigrant discount". Flight was on PAL, economy, one way direct to SFO. Compared to the PAL website price, it was about 300 USD cheaper.

Thanks for the info. Did u have to show your visa to the travel agent to get the "first time immigrant discount"

No problems at all. Contact camiabriones@yahoo.com. Good luck!

  2. I doubt you will get many responses. This topic was discussed a couple years ago. You will probably end up educating the current crowd about the discount. It's good you bring it up for discussion again.

Well I want to get feed back on those who just got their visa with in this past month or year as well. Thanks

  3. I have read (on VJ) that if the ticket is purchased in PI from a PI (some but not all) travel agency there is an immigrant discount available.

I wonder what the "catch" is.

Maybe do some searches to see if you can find the (old) thread discussing this.

well I know about Mango tours do it because I have called often to get a price on tickets but just wondering how many have recived it.

  4. Maybe this is related, maybe not: My wife will get a new passport with her married name in it after I depart the Philippines next month, and of course she needs to attend the CFO seminar in order to do this. My question is...will she need to get another seminar in order to leave the Philippines once she gets her visa?

Yes she has to do the CFO to be able to get her new passport with her married last name as a requirement from DFA. She should bring a pictures of your wedding and any documents if you were divorce at one time and also your marriage license from NSO. Once completed she does not have to go back to do the course all she has to do is show her certificate of the course to the main branch to get her CFO sticker once she has her visa in hand. Hope that helps.

  5. Our case was completed at NVC on August 16 and the suspense of not being able to schedule an interview was eating at me. After conducting some research here on VJ under Embassy Info, I was able to request late September interview by calling (214) 571-1600 (as I'm in the USA).

According to the rep at US Embassy Manila, they have available slots for August, September and October. I could have chosen an earlier date. However, this gives my husband time to finish up whats needed prior to his USA trip.

Visa Information and Appointment Service Call Hours and New Phone Number

The Visa Information and Appointment Service is now accessible from Monday to Friday only, from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., except on Philippine and U.S. holidays.

In addition to +63-2-982-5555 and (214) 571-1600 (for calls from the United States), immigrant and K visa applicants may also request a visa appointment via this new call center number: (632) 902-8930. This phone number is valid for CR1 filers as well. The above numbers is recommended for getting an interview appointment.

Also, you can call the embassy directly at +63-2-301-2000 ext. 5184-5185. It is difficult to get through to the correct people using these two extensions.

Good luck to all and God bless! (F) (F) (F)

Then why would NVC state they have to gives the appointments? Interesting info.

  6. Hey Guys, I have read around the threads that there is a way to track your file when it gets shipped to Embassy, I just wanted to know, does the idea work? I have read mix reviews of the ways, but I wanted to ask if people have tried the method and how good it was. I was going to call NVC today and see if they have shipped my files out to Embassy, Thank for the info.

    1. NVC sets an appointment date for you and sends out your package to the US Embassy. If you're really #######, paranoid, or just a busybody, you can track the package status. You can use the date after your interview was assigned, as the tracking reference date, and then do a search on DHL. The format to use is "EXP 07 OCT 2008A" don't forget the spaces...and to set the date range on the tracking page. The website for tracking is.http://track.dhl-usa.com/TrackByRef.asp?nav=TrackByRefThe package may not go out on the next day, but the reference code will still be for that date. When your package is able to be tracked, it will make more sense. You'll see a list of packages going to different embassies. You'll know which one is yours.

    you can try this, hehe

of course use your dates of when you got your notice like EXP 23 JUL 2011A.........hen use a date or two difference in the tracting ref date....

  7. You don't want to meet up with Darren? Maybe Darren was hoping to meet up (like a double date) and now you've hurt his feelings. :hehe:

I cant go to my wife interview because I am working and the expense are to much for travel already.

  8. My plan is for my wife to go on PAL since they have direct flight to LA and I will fly from Florida to LA and spend the weekend thier and go around LA since I had lived thier for six years. Then I would fly Southwest back to Florida since their the only air line that does not charge for bags. I rather have my wife go through one flight to come to Florida alone since she never has travel outside the Philippines ever. So I want her first coming over a good experince and not a stressfull one.

  9. Hello everyone,

My case was approved dated July 12,2011 still waiting for instructions and not calling NVC yet until August 12 since it was stated in NOA2 that we can call after 30days, so we are waiting for that date and if we never receive any from them then we will call. Do you think my interview will be schedule on September? I am looking forward to receive my appointment letter this month. God Bless to all.

My case was closed on the same day and called on the first day in August in the evening and found out that we recivied my wife appointment for Sep. 7 and then the email was sent on August 3.
