My wife's citizenship interview was done & approved on Feb 10, 2014 at the Fairfax, VA office. We were wondering that how long normally it takes after the interview to get the notice for the next step (Oath Ceremony).

I am in the same situation like you. My citizenship was approved on Feb 10, 2014 at the fairfax, VA office. I am still waiting on my oath ceremony date. My last case update was on Feb 24,2014, which stated that I have been placed in oath ceremony Que. I was wondering how long it will take to get the oath ceremony date. Please update me if you get to hear anything from USCIS. I think we will have our oath ceremony on the same date.

A little update to this thread. So until today I still haven't heard anything , even after calling them a few more times. Finally I called today and asked to be tranferred to somebody else that can tell me something more than just to wait another 30 days. Clearly, I've waited long enough. So after being on hold for 2.5 hours to speak to a 2nd level representative I found out that my case is on hold, because I had a biometrics appointement on August 13 that I missed!! I never received the letter!!! What makes me furious the most is that after so many phonecalls , and most of all my Infopass appointement back in October , nobody told me oh yeah, we had an appointemnt scheduled for you but you didn't show up !! So now I have to write a letter to VA requesting rescheduling my biometrics. I'll probably be waiting another 6 months for that!! So frustrating!

Dont wait to write a letter to application support center. I was in the same situation, and 2nd tier officer asked me to write a letter to reschedule my biometrics appointment. I waited for 5 months for my biometrics letter, but never received any. 2nd tier officer told me that I missed my bio appointment, unfortunately I have never received any mail from USCIS. I made an infopass appointment, and officer told me that my case is on hold since I missed my biometrics. Then she issued me a biometrics letter without any question. I think USCIS is having some problem, many of us didn't actually receive any bio letter. The process became easy for me after getting bio letter. I applied for citizenship in july/2013, then did my bio in December, then interview was in feb and now I am in que for my oath ceremony. The total process will be 9 months . My suggestion would be- don't wait anymore, once you hit one month time period after the submission of N-400, you should be worried about your bio-letter. Make an info-pass immediately and ask for the fingerprint date.

Finally, after long wait of 8 months, passed my citizenship test on February 10th. I was wondering how long does it take to get oath ceremony date for Virginia resident?

So, here is my update. I stopped calling USCIS and just came from my infopass appointment. The immigration officer said that they scheduled my fingerprints on 12th August,2013, But I have not received anything in the mail. Then she scheduled me another Bio-appointment on December 16,2013. It's been almost five months since I applied. But Thanks I am on track now. She also said my case is still sitting at NBC. I wish I would go to this infopass route long before.Hope later steps will go smooth for me.

My two cents would be whoever is still waiting for their bio, I would suggest them to make an infopass appointment ASAP.

I don't know what's with July 11th as priority date since I read a lot of posts saying they are having delays on their applications too (me as well). The only letter I got from them after the Notice of Receipt was the yellow letter (Pre-Interview Notice) saying that I need to bring all the passports I've used and my state ID.

One more month then I'll be beyond the normal processing time. This is giving me a lot of frustrations. Please keep posting all your updates so we can help out each other.

I am in the same situation like you. Applied for N-400 on July 9 and received receipt notice, followed by the pre-interview notice to bring driver license to my interview. I had to put a service request for FP in September. Nothing received after that. Talked several times with customer rep, but only answer I got that I already know from USCIS website.So, last friday I called again and found out they responded back to my service request through email, and email address they got in their system was wrong. So, I asked customer rep what I will do if they contact me again through email. Customer rep transferred my line to the 2nd tier officer. After waiting for 42 min, the officer said they sent me a FP letter in July. But I have not received anything. Then she suggested me to contact directly to my local office. She gave me their mailing address and asked me to mail the local office to reschedule my bio-metrics, she also said to send the copy of original receipt notice that I received from USCIS. Let's see whether I get any reply from them. She also said that my local office which is Alexandria, VA is backlogged. I will wait for another week, then I will put 2nd service request through USCIS. Hope for the best. Try to talk to a 2nd tier officer, only he/she can give information that you need to proceed with N-400.

there are only so many edits one can do, so here is a repost

InfoPass Appointment attended at 745am and was out by 815am,

and was advised by the officer at the field office to call the 1800 AGAIN and tell 'them' to create "SRMT Inquiry", as our files are still at the National Benefits Center the field officer was reading the following out loud but didn't explain this when reading my case on his computer "fingerprints requested, request declined, requested again denied again", then he said the above, adding that "there is something wrong with the system", "it looks like they are trying and its not going through". "So, call them".

I called again and was advised to wait 15 days or call back by the FIRST PERSON who answered, I also told this officer on the phone that my family members who applied along with me have same problem, he said, they need to call separately and talk to another officer over the phone.

now when the other applicant called 1800 first person to respond heard his (same as mine) story and said she will have to transfer him to someone else regarding his case and transferred the line to the TIER II officer I assume? officer took down his story and said he will receive ASC appointment letter in two weeks time or call back, which is I think a biometrics notice

Summary:

three calls were made to USCIS

Call 1 Applicant 1: Tier I officer gave a confirmation number saying request has been put through and, "if you do not hear anything in 15 days call back with the given reference number".

Call 2 Applicant 2: Tier II officer gave no reference number (neither one was asked for) but advised that applicant will receive a letter in two weeks time or else call back

Call 3 Applicant 3: (same like call 1)

After call 2 I feel better, atleast Applicant 2 got a straighter answer from USCIS

I am documenting everything here so this information helps someone else in the future

Nice to know that I am not only the one person who is in this position. I applied on 7th July, not no bio-metrics nothing. Everytime I called USCIS, they just say to wait another month or so. Days are passing by, four months have been passed in the meantime still no bio-metrics notice. I did a service request one-time, no reply yet. As usual they told me to wait a month. I called them after a month, reply was that they responded to my service request on October,25, but they cannot say what was the actual response. Again, they said to wait another month and then call them back. In the mean time, only thing I received is receipt from USCIS confirming that they received my application and a yellow letter ( pre-interview letter) which says to bring driver-license to my interview. I don't even understand that what is the purpose of that yellow letter as my case status is still under initial review. I will wait till November 25, then give a shot for info pass. I am just so pissed and annoyed, this waiting is killing me. Anyways let me know your case update if it moves within next 15 days.

UPDATE: I called in on 10/28 to ask them why I have no received a Biometrics Appointment and it was escalated to my processing facility. I got an email from them on 10/29 saying that they have reschedule my FP/Biometrics appointment for 11/15.

After getting Biormetrics notice appointment, have your status changed in the uscis.gov web-site from initial review to something else? I called in again and they said the service request that I made for bio-metrics on september,12, they responded back on october,25. But the system doesn't say exactly what was the actual response. So, they said to wait for another 30 days. Let's hope that bio-metrics notice on its way to my mail-box. Update me about your case status.

I am in the same situation like you. I applied for my N-400 on July,7 but didn't receive any bio- metrics notice yet . Only thing I received is the confirmation letter that USCIS received my application. On October 10, they issued me a yellow pre-interview notice that says to bring driver license to my interview. I called USCIS last week to ask what would be my next step ? They answered that I have to wait another 3-5 weeks from the last notice( yellow letter) to receive anything, so it might be the bio-metrics notice or might be the interview letter. So, lets see whats happens next.

I am wondering why it is taking so long? Some other applicants who applied after me already received their passport . Lets hope for the best. Please let me know if you hear something from USCIS.

Don't worry dear. By doing some research I have found out there is something called 15 months rule in bio-metrics appointment. Bio-metric expires after 15 months. For example, If you have done your bio-metric for ROC within last 15 months, you don't need to do it again. However, If you don't get any interview within this 15 months, then you have to redo your FP before appearing for a citizenship test. I applied for my N-400 on 11th august,2013 and still no biometrics appointment letter , although USCIS already notified me that they received my case on August 12,2013. I did my last FP on June 16,2012 for ROC. So, I am assuming that my last FP is still valid and there is no need to repeat FP for N-400. Hope this helps. Still waiting for the biometrics letter. We're waiting until 8/15 to call because that will be 30 days from their priority date they've given us. Only a week to go now. Hopefully it arrives soon and we don't have to call them.

I guess I spoke too soon that Portland processed quickly. It seems Portland really is backed up with applications since Feb. From the chart on USCIS it goes down a notch in May but no information posted for June or July yet. Waiting, checking the mail, more waiting and watching the clock hoping we didn't miss our biometrics appointment because our mail is missing or slow.

Finally our June filers 1-751 application is moving. Such a great relief for me.I got my NOA-1 notice in June also and did my bio-metrics on July 15th.Lets keep our fingers crossed. Hope we all are about to get good news soon. Good luck June filers )))

Thanks for giving me confident. I am greatly appreciating it. I am praying and hoping that, she will not getting any question about her previouse visa applications info. The last interview she had, refused by Bangali female officer which was rude and nasty. My wife was cried so much that still she is scaring to face interview, even i am giving her confident and motivating her to strong enough to face all those question. Now i am aslo adding my future child, which is due on next month(Sep 20, 2010). I am kinda concerning about the child, I heard lots of rumours that They will ask for DNA test. I dont know how they will do my child DNA test without having me. I hope they are not gonna require any kind of bully like DNA test, since its minor child. Anyways thanks for your concern and have a safe trip to Chicago.( sorry hate cold )

Thanks for wishing me luck.Dont worry much everything will be fine and yeah this is the fact they administer DNA test for the babies. And final interview will be taken by American officer so from my concern they will not harrass your wife by asking annoying question.keep posted about your updates and good luck on your visa journey and on your upcoming baby.Inshallah everything will be fine and your visa solly depends on your documents. If you pay tax regularly and can show tons of pictures together they will not hesitate to approve your visa

Congrats! My wife tried couple of time tourist visa for US embassy at Dhaka, Last time she got busted lied about my informations. Now her immigration has been approved, I believe within few months she will be face interview, What inpact will come out she lied about me her previouse tourist visa interview? Dont you think she will get her immigration visa refuse being lied about my status in the US? Now i am getting frustration and I dont what to do?

Not a problem.they are not concerned about the denial procedure of B-2 visa. All they are concerned about the previous visit to USA thats what I felt cause when they were interviewing me they asked about my previous stay at USA like when did I go to USA and when did I leave USA?so relax and dont be so stressed out

hi thnx will it be a problm if i download the form and take a copy with answer to the interview? i want to take it as an answer sheet so i can write those answer from that copy..cause who know i might not remember the date or something else what is common but cant remember..

Which form you are talking about?if you are talking about additional questionnarie then its not required to memorize it as they are not bothered about the dates of that form.So dont worry and relax that will not create any problem
