Consulate Review: Bangladesh
Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : August 18, 2010
Embassy Review : I dont know where to start my review cause right now so many things are coming up in my head.It was really hard to being here without my husband for 7 months.ok now coming back to my interview that went well apart from that waiting time in the lounge for 5 hours. The night before my interview I organized all the papers before going to bed. As it is Ramadan going on, I woke up at 4 am in the morning and was preparing for interview. I was thinking to get out a bit early from the house but I was late somehow. I had an interview at 8 am and I managed to get out from the house at 7:10 and finally I was able to get into line infront of the embassy at 7:45 am. There was a huge queue and security system was really very strict and they were permitting one person at a time to get into the embassy. After going through the heavy security system finally I was able to get into the main room. What I saw in the room full of people OMG I have never seen that much of pepole in the embassy. I had to wait over there for 2 hours then I got a call from window number 1. A bengali guy took all my papers those were missing like 2009 tax transcript, then my photo and additinal questionnarie and piled up all the documents. Then that guy asked me few questions-

1. what is your spouse name?
2. what is he doing in USA?In what position?
3. What is your mother name?
4. what is your father name?
5. Whats is your marriage date?
6. what are doing here in Bangladesh?

Then finally he told me to organize all the documents I do have like my wedding photos and all the proof of relation with my husband and told me they will take my finger print and after that an immigration officer will take my interview.

Again my waiting started. After 2 hours of waiting a lady called my name and took my fingerprint and then after an hour like around 1 Pm finally my name was announced on window number 8.

I was nervous and slowly pull the door and asked an officer \"can I come in\".He was really nice to me. He smiled at me and said \"yes\". First question to me \"do you want to conduct this interview in bangla or english\" I said \"english\"

then he said who else today came with you.I answered my father is waiting outside. He asked me \"where is your husband\" and I answered \"he is in USA\". Again he said how was the day today? I smiled and said \"good\" though that day was horrible as I had to wait for so long before my interview. He showed my DS-230 form and asked me \"is this your application\".I said \"yes\"

Then he told me to take an oath.I raised my right hand and took an oath with him. After that he asked me \"do you have photos with your husband\". I said, yes I do have and gave him the photos. Next question so \"where did you get married\" I said here in Dhaka. Then he look into my honeymoon pictures and told me so guys went to kulalampur I have been to that place and laughed at me. Next question to me \"how guys did you meet\", I answered it was an arranged marriage. I was quiet sure he was not convinced by the fact that my marriage was arranged. then again he asked me \"how did you meet with him\", I answered \"through my sister\" then again he asked me \"how come your sister know your husband\". I said they just know each other then again he told me how come they know each other did they go to school together or anything like that, then I said he is just a family friend. Finally he stopped poking me and gave me DS-230 form to sign the paper.

question started again towards me \"so mam you have been to american and in which year?\"

I said back in 2003 to visit my sister. He asked me \"what is your sister doing over there?

then again we went back to my wedding and asked me \"how many people came to your wedding?\"

I answered 500 pepople.

officer again went back to my US visit and asked me \"when did you leave america\"

Actually I was then confused cause I went to america such a long time ago didnt understand what he was talking about. What I got from his point of view that the officer was thinking I was in USA and I met that guy and may be after that we got married.

when he saw I was confused he asked me again you to went to America in 2003 and came back when?

then I answered I went back to DHAKA in 2004.

next question when did you get married?
I answered 16th dec,2009. His answer, \"OOhh thats pretty recent congrats to you\".
I said thanks and gave back a smile to him.

finally he asked me when my husband went to America and through whom he went to USA?

At last he told me I am gonna approve your visa and gave me a white slip. Then I told him thank you so much and he told me to pick up my passport tomorrow at 1:30. then I thanked him again and took a leave from that window.

overall the interview was good and the immigration officer was really very friendly. I was nervous throughout the interview and he was trying to comfort me. So far I stood for visa 4 times and among all the officers I will say this guy was the best immigration officer I have ever faced.God bless him.

Sorry for unnecessary long review.Thank you VJS for supporting me so much through out my visa journey. Hope you guys will find it helpful.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
