  1. No, it is NOT better to wait for your appointment letter. I hope you guys have heard of the "stupid" Sputum tests that will delay you for two months.

Take for example my mom's case, she has her interview appointment on June 16 but because of the sputum 2 month culture, she won't be able to go to her appointment and will have to wait until end of July for the result of the culture. Now, if I only knew that this would happen to her (sputum test) I would've asked her to take her medical exam last March when I got her case number and she could still be able to attend the June 16 appointment.

  2. Hi guys! Sorry if I didn't give an update sooner but my mom's 3-day sputum collection was negative. She's now just waiting for the result of the culture and I'm really praying that it'll be negative as well. St. Luke's told her to call them for the results on July 5th so I will give you an update then.

same with my mom, she had the 3 day sputum test last week and all three were negative. she has to wait until july 26 though. :(

  3. to anyone who is in the US and has access to langka seeds and is willing to mail them to me and be compensated through paypal, please let me know. i want a langka tree in my backyard.

are you sure that jackfruit will grow and bear-fruit in your location?

  4. on the interview appointment letter at the last 2 pages it tells there what documents she needs to bring. an nvc op confirmed to me that everything we submitted will be at the hands of the interviewing consul and that the original documents will be returned during the interview. but do bring old (or new) pictures that shows proof of relationship between petitioner and applicant.

  5. my aunt waited 60 days then pinayagan din siya umalis, she was positive of something na hindi serious. When she arrived here she got a letter telling her to have a check-up in a county hospital, doctor said its an "sleeping infection" which is not serious.

  6. ngayon ko lang nabasa 'tong thread na ito and I completely agree to most of the comments. 5 years na ako dito sa San Diego and this is one of the places where there are a lot of Filipinos because of the bases so madami na rin akong na-experience na ganyan.

Pero ang hindi ko makalimutan yung na-encounter ko sa isang Chinese Resto na turo-turo style:

An elder Pinoy infront of me were asking the Chinese cook for peking duck (while pointing to a cooked duck infront of him), the cook said:"we don't have peking duck".

The elder pinoy suddenly got mad at the Chinese cook at biglang nagmumura sa tagalog:"I said I want peking duck, @#@!#$!#$, I can see peking duck in front of me!@#@$#$#@$#@".

Then the cook said:"THAT IS NOT PEKING DUCK!". Pahiya yung matanda, gusto ko sana hiritan or pagsabihan kaya lang baka ako naman magmukhang bastos sa harap ng matanda.

Biglang tumingin sakin yung anak nung matanda, nahiya yata sa asal ng tatay niya.

Leo and Ellen are a successful New York couple, totally immersed in their work. Leo is the creator of a booming website, and has stumbled into a world of money and big decisions. Ellen is a dedicated emergency surgeon who devotes her long shifts to saving lives. Their eight-year-old daughter Jackie (Sophie Nyweide) spends most of her time with her Filipino nanny Gloria; even when Ellen has time for her, Jackie often prefers to be with Gloria.

Gloria has two children of her own, young boys staying in the Philippines with their grandmother. The older boy tries to find a job so that Gloria does not have to work abroad, but he gets hurt. Gloria is informed and quits her job right away to return to her country.

Leo travels to Thailand to sign a contract, but in Thailand it turns out that his colleague has to negotiate additionally. In the meantime Leo is bored. There are attractive women offering themselves to him, but at first he does not want sex, and even pays a prostitute for not having sex with any client one evening. Later he has sex with a local women after all, but he regrets it afterwards, and has his colleague accept the terms offered, so that they can finish the work and return to the US.

medyo naiyak ako, :crying: hehe nakarelate kasi ako, naging yaya din sa abroad ang nanay ko noon nung bata pa kami ng kuya ko.

  8. Hello, so did you have a certain time to be at St. Lukes? Where did you get the information from to find out what time for you to be there or did you go at the earliest time that you could?

    thanks,

    martinbr

for my k-1 visa 5 years ago, I think my interview appointment letter had the date and time for the medical.

for my mom now its 1st come 1st serve as what garysworld mentioned.

  9. I see your point Trailmix and if you think I gave the wrong information then my bad.

Anyway, lets go back to one of the questions of the thread starter:

I will also be using my husband's income, since I only have been working for two years. We file tax together, however, when I was trying to fill out the form, it asks for individual income. What should I put in? Also, the taxable income showing on the tax return is not really annual income. If I put my annual income, that would not match the taxable income on the tax return. So what number should I put?

Now lets go back to the "RULE" that you quoted:

"If a sponsor filed a joint tax return with a spouse, but is qualifying using only his/her own individual income, the sponsor must submit evidence of that individual income. This evidence would include, for example, the sponsor’s own W-2(s), Wage and Tax Statement, and if necessary to reach the income requirement, evidence of other income reported to IRS which can be attributed to him/her, usually on Forms 1099".

From what I understand after reading that rule, you only need evidence of an individual's income if that individual is NOT going to use his/her spouse's income to qualify.

But if both incomes will be used then no need to prove "individual" income since both incomes will be used anyway that's why (in my opinion) an IRS Transcript alone is enough.

Going back to Meric's case, she is the sponsor and will be using her husband's income too which is similar to what I did.

If you think that I'm still wrong then who cares, what you said is right - "it is up to me".

    Thanks for the luck.

  10. She says she wants to keep appointment. I want her to leave on the May 25th so she can have plenty of time to get the medical interview and everything, but I don't know how she is going to get things in order with her fathers funeral in four days from now. Her sister is on her way down from Manila now. My wife has to go up on a boat because I can't afford plane tickets for her and her daughter to go back and forth. I am afraid though it might be a few more months or maybe longer before she can get another appointment. I am just going to play it by ear. I have one more phone call to contact the embassy call center in which I can inquire about this.

    thanks,

    martinbr

sorry to hear about the sad news.

your wife didn't have her medical exam at St. Luke's yet? I suggest not to buy a plane ticket yet, you don't know what those doctors at St. Luke's might find in her x-ray. Even a little blurry spot could delay her interview for 2 months. That's what just happened with my mom and many other applicants.

  11. I don't think you are actually seeing what I have posted.

What you have posted above is true and correct IF you are submitting an affidavit of support that does not include a joint return.

The instructions only cover the basics - when you get outside the basics you have to do a little research to find out which rules apply to your particular situation.

You didn't read what I posted don't you?

"-BTW we filed jointly so the AGI on the i-864 is both mine and my wife's income w/c is the exact amount on our tax return"

Me and my wife submitted a joint return for the last 5 years.

For my affidavit of support we included IRS Transcripts for the past 3 years (2007, 2008, 2009) that are all JOINT RETURNS.

So, if the above rules that I posted doesn't apply for JOINT RETURNS, why was our affidavit of support approved?

Yes, I agree that you need to do more research for particular situations and that's what I did.

  12. AB, your baby is so cute! I am with you on this. I just wished that I have known this before so I could have advised mom to go to her medical as soon as we received the case number way back in March. She would have been here by now. No use crying over spilled milk, anyhow, but just can't help wishing anyway.

I have some friends who went to St. Luke's yesterday with just their case number and approval notice, but guess what, the guard asked for an interview letter from them and did not let them in until they talked to their lawyer in the US and the lawyer told them to insist on being admitted because they already have a case number. After a few minutes, they were admitted but not before they have been told to stand aside and were subjected to embarrassment! What's up with St. Luke? Why do they accept some, and reject others? I guess it depends on the guard on duty. So now if you want to have an advance medical with just your mnl number and approval notice, you are at the mercy of the guard on duty, whether he will let you in or not.

    This sure sucks!

Thank you Treyu. Yes, I wished I would have known this too, I would have asked my mom to go to her medical exam last March. Oh well, there's nothing we can do now but wait.

When my mom texted me as soon as she was told about the result of her x-ray, I went online and read about this sputum test at St. Luke's and found a lot of similar stories from other people.

There are those who we were so mad that they even wrote their congressmen and senators at Capitol Hill to tell the US Embassy in Manila about these "atrocities" being done by that clinic.

And do you know that if they find someone positive then they'll require that person to go EVERYDAY to their clinic and take their medication in front of them. An intending immigrant who lives in a province far from Manila complained about this and all St. Luke's said was: "Well, there's nothing we can do about that, that's the policy, you have to move in Manila temporarily for your treatment".

Those people who can afford the best and expensive hospitals had a second opinion and the doctors said they are clean and very healthy, but of course St. Luke's clinic wouldn't budge and when they asked for their x-ray the clinic wouldn't release it to them.
