  1. Ok, thanks...Hmm I bet you have a higher preference being French...From this post that I found, tabta (at least in 2006) got the case number and shortly after that, Packet 3. I'm pretty sure that DCF is a lot faster than in 2006, but it's good to know what steps to look forward to.

After you mentioned this in the other post I thought I would give my input. I am pretty sure it should go alot quicker than it did when I applied. It would have taken longer when I applied but I got my senator here in the US involved. Juarez sent out a letter saying the interview would take place within the next 2 months. 2 months passed and we had never even received a date. So I contacted my senator and after they worked their magis we had an interview 2 months later. Be sure when things do happen that all documents are sent to you via UPS from the US if you elected for your documents to get sent to the US. We didnt and we went to the interview without a letter. Because neither copy arrived due to the unreliability of the mexican mail. So needless to say we almost missed the medical and the interview.

  2. You want it to imitate it as much as possible. I had luck using Word and putting little text boxes and then re-sizing everything. They know you can't duplicate the format, but an American translation is going to be as close as possible so it is visually pleasing. I don't know if you have ever seen a translation by a traductor perito (expert translator) in Mexico where they translate every single word on the certificate and even describe everything. It becomes a visual mess that makes your head ache because what was a very organized birth certificate becomes an essay on your birth. Mine went from 2 pages of a certificate with an apostille to 4 pages of translation! That is not what an American-style translation should look like. If the "acta" was 1 page, then the translation should be about 1 page with similar size. Don't forget the certificate of ability available on the USCIS page. Also, watch out for the fact that Mexican BCs need to be up to date. (well I don't know if USCIS cares but here in Mexico they complain about that.)

It's really funny that you showed up just now because I actually just quoted your timeline for those of us that are doing DCF in Mexico. :)

    THanks

I actually have most of my documents translated by a traductor perito in Mexico so I am using that as a guide.

  3. Ok guys, my husband passed through the interview today. His appt. was at 1:30 and he was walking back to the car at 2"05 when he called. He said they asked him 6 questions. I am assuming since he got the first 6 correct he didnt have to answer anymore. He also had to read a passage. They asked him to review the app and check for descrepencies.

He got a paper saying that he would be reccmoended for citizenship and that he would be receiving info about his oath ceremony. If you all have more specific questions just post them.

  4. My husbasnd has his naturalization interview in March. After this we plan on bringing his parents to the US. We are both swtill in school now so we do not meet the income guidelines. I will be graduating this may and will be starting work in August (teaching). Will it be a problem if we apply earlier than I start working. I know it will be a while before we need the affidavit of support. Does the past matter or will it be more important to have the income at interview time.

  5. My husband just passed his 3 year residency mark this month. We didn't apply 90 days before the three year mark, we sent our application on Jan 12. We got our NOA on Jan 21st. I was getting kind of ansy because we hadn't received a biometrics appt. yet. Today setting in the mailbox I found a letter. i opened it and was surprised to see that it is an interview letter. We have an appt March 23rd. Is this normal to not have biometrics? We did just have them done last Feb. Is this why?

  6. So I got online this morning to check my husbands status and I recieve this

Your case information is incomplete within Case Status Online. For further assistance please call the National Customer Service Center at 1.800.375.5283.

Has this happened to anyone before, Whats going on?

  7. Is son a US Citizen? and Does son have a US passport? If so then letter is not needed if both are traveling together with son, and not needed to return to the USA just the US passport.

Letter is only needed if child is traveling out of the country either by self or with only one parent, this shows consent by the parent or parents remaining behind.

Child is a Us citizen with a US passport. Thanks for the info

  8. Hey guys, I know this has been posted about several times in the past but I cant seem to find it. My husband and I are visiting Mexico with our son at the end of the month. My husband will be returning before I do so that means I will be returning alone with my son. Do I still need to have a notorized letter? If so, does anyone have a sample letter?

    thanks

  9. I have not married someone who was here illegally, but I can tell you that it is a long process, especially with someone from Mexico. They will have to file for a visa just like everyone else. The difference will be at the interview they will have to submit a waiver. I am not sure about the wait time for a waiver now but it was up to about 12 months. During this time he will have to remain in mexico and wait.

  10. Maybe this has already been posted in this thread several times or maybe this is silly but I am not sure so I thought I would ask anyways. We can apply for citizenship tomorrow. Needless to say we werent very good about getting things ready in advance. So my question is

Do we have to put all the info for the last 5 years or when we are putting where he has worked or lived do we just put for 3 years since we are applying in just 3 years due to the fact that we are married?

    Thanks everyone

  11. We are considering bringing my husbands parents here to visit for a couple of months. We just had a baby in October and we want them to be ale to spend some time with him. His parents are in their 50's. THey do not own a home or a car. His mom is a stay at home wife and his dad is self employed (a salesman). They have no bank accounts or anything like that. we cannot think of anything that would show them reason to stay besides the fact that all of their family (but my husband) is in Mexico. So now I would like to know if it will be possible, although they would not stay illegally, is there any need to even try to get a tourist visa? Sure we would gladly pay for the vis if we thought they had a shot at getting it, but we don't want to just throw our money away.

  12. OK I cant answer all of your questions but maybe I will be of some help. You can use your copy of the letter.

As for a hotel, what are you most looking for, a good location or nice. We stayes in the hotel right in front of the consulate, it is not the nicest but we loved being able to look out of the window and see how many people were lined up.

there is also the holliday inn down the street about a ten minute walk

    hope this helps in someway

  13. I had this same problem. I filed in Mexico just like you. Our interview was in Feb. 2006 and we found out about our interview the end of DEC. The papers were sent to my address in Mexico and also my address in the US. THey never arrived in Mexico. My grandma sent the ones that arrived in the US via priority mail to me and they never arrived either. So we got to Juarez without the appt. letter. YOu have to have that to do your Medical. We would have missed it because although we were out at 5 in the morning we didnt know that the line to wait for the info window to open is on the other side of the street. Well we waited and waited and we finally got through to the info window at 2 o clock that evening(they are so slow). My husband ould have missed his interwiew because of not completeing his medical if my grandma hadn't scanned and emailed the letter before sending it to me. I paid 70 pesos to print it off there in front of the consulate and switched him places in line so he could get the medical exam. If you have to go to the info window to get a copy of the letter I would recommend lining up early (they start at about 5) and maybe even coming one day earlier
