  2. Thx for adding me:-)

My tablet didn't let me do it, lol.

    Ok guys, I'm freaking out.

Looks like I made a mistake on Part 8 Section G - How many times has your current spouse been married? - I put 0.

Our marriage together is our only marriage and I just put how many times she had previously been married instead and not including our marriage.

Did I just blow $680 or can this be explained in person at the interview or is such a thing as sending an amendment?

  3. I have a question for you guys:

Does USCIS always review your application prior to interview? Cause mine haven't been touched after BIO.

    Thanks!

In my case, they didn't touch until my interview day after bio but I think USCIS website online case is not so reliable.

When I had an interview, I felt like they already went through everything although website showed that no updates. Therefore, try not to rely on too much touched things on website. They are working on your case even if it doesn't show updates on uscis.

  4. Stop ya whining ppl lol t1939.gif... had to wait for my internet access

So our appt time was to be at 11:05 am but dealing with my rush, rush hubby, we got to Philly at 9:45 and had to kill some time til at least 10:15. We entered and went through the security scan (joked a lil with one of the guards- she was a sweety) and made our way up to the waiting room on the 3rd floor. Of course there were no clocks so we didn’t have a clue how long we were waiting but the room was ¾ filled with AOS, ROC and Naturalization people. I walked to the front desk and handed the lady behind the glass window my interview letter and was told to have a seat and wait to be called.

At least 3-4 couples were, in my opinion, given the Stokes interview as the IO sent one spouse back to the waiting room while they interrogated the other spouse. Funny thing is, the ones who were given such treatments, had attorneys present while the others who didnt, including us, were never separated. We were the last to be called in before lunch (so to speak) at about 1. We were interviewed by an Asian lady, Ms. Cho. She was very polite yet got straight to the point since they were obviously runnin behind schedule.

She asked us if there were anything we wanted to add to the file and even though I had an enormous amount of stuff, I just let her look through our photo albums, joint bank accounts, lease, benefits enrollment form and pics (of which, only the photo albums were new evidence cuz she didn’t ask for any of our insurance cards since we already submitted info regarding the enrollment). She then went straight into questioning us.

    Hubby’s questions

She spent a good 5 mins doing so and started to inquire about who went to the wedding (12). (Hubby named every single person but ticked me off by telling her how his mom didn’t approve even though she didn’t ask him all that lol)

    When did we get married?

    Where was it held?

    What we did afterwards?

When did we start going out?

Where did we go on dates?

How long was it before we decided to get married?

Asked hubby visa am I on?

Where I lived in Detroit? (too many places so she by-passed it

What school I attend, and what school I got my degree from?

What is my major here and in my degree?

    When was I last enrolled?

    My questions

When and how did we meet?- Then if we still went to that church.

What did/do we have in common?

How often did we see each other during school?

What activities did we do when I visited?

    Where hubby works?

How many times I visited the US? Too many to count

When did I enter on my student visa?

Has he ever taken time off to come to Detroit?

When did he visit and what did we do?

Oddly, will I go back to school in august?

What was our first movie? (too long ago) so she asked what was our last movie together? Made small talk as to her wanting to know about it.

Then asked about the I-130 questions

    Both

    And if we’re married?

What do we know about each other’s parents? Age, Job, Name, Address

Then, asked us to verify our own and each others’ Age, Job, Name, Address.

What do I want to do as a career?

After that, she asked, again, if I wanted in include anything. I gave her the most recent 3 pay stubs and employment letters from both jobs and to make a copy of my I-20. She then said thanks for coming in and that we’ll get the letter in about 30 days as they have cut down on giving out stamps (even though she said sorry and we‘ll have to wait to take hubby to JA). She asked us to stay in the wait room until she made copies and when she came out, I told her about my EAD touches and said if I get it I coud use it but I might get my GC before that.

    God is good. t0820.gif

    Congrats hon

    I love u too mami... t4710.gif

    BESOS (L)

I pick option B... Ur too excited for me lolt2709.gif

    Awesome, Bes

    Congrats!!

So happy to see that everyone is getting there.

  5. Tmobile is not that great, but its cheaper than lots of other phone services. I had verizon before and it was too expensive.

The only concern I have is we dont rent or lease, as we are living with my parents. Would this create a problem for us? Anyone here used an affidavit about the living arrangements?

That should be fine. As long as your parents state on the letter saying that you guys living together will work.

I read many times from others' who were just like you, they said everything was ok.

There are many people live together with parents these days due to bad financial situation.

Not to worry. Just explain nicely if IO asks.

  6. I started preparing for the interview.

I have the following evidences of bonafide marriage:

    1. Affidavit from my dad stating that both of us live with him

    2. Both of our drivers licenses showing the same address

    3. Joint checking account showing the past 3 months statements

    4. IRA account listing my spouse (non-USC) as the beneficiary

    5. Life insurance policy listing my spouse (non-USC) as the beneficiary

    6. Joint TMobile cell phone account

    7. Receipts showing both of us purchasing furniture together

    8. Joint credit cards

    9. Affidavits from my mom and uncle confirming our relationship

    10. Wedding cards from our family congratulating us on our wedding

    11. 200+ photos from our dating period, civil wedding ceremony and various social events

    12. Letter from my employer listing my spouse (non-USC) as an emergency contact.

We do not have a lease, utility bills or home deed because we live with my parents. All those documents are in their names.

Is this enough? Will we need more?

It seems like way enough evidences.

    Good luck!

  7. yes but with EAD you CAN apply for SSN, then you need to show SSN and EAD to fil out the form for DL, then, if your DL from your home country is readable and you have it for several years, then they will issue you a temp DL while you wait for the driving test.

At SSA they told me to come 2 days after I applied to give me a temp SSN card with my number on it. with that i could apply for DL. I received my original SSn card within a week.

    Good luck every one!

Yeap, I rushed to SSA to apply SSN right after dmv let me down. Your office is way better than mine. I can't go there after 2days to get the temp number. She FIRMLY told me wait til get in mail.

BTW, have fun in Hawaii. I love that place.

  8. Easy

    Put down the truth.

    Thanks for ur comment.

What my hubby put is the correct one. His bro put that DOB for getting his travel document when he apply. We don't want to hurt his work. That's why my bubby got confused. If, what if, they look up his bro's file, they will see the different DOB. They didn't use lunar calendar 'cause they have their own calendar in their culture that's why his bro had confusion.

Again, thank you for ur opinion.

  9. Hi, VJers,

Have a question about bringing mom of USC.

It's a long story but let me try to make it short.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My hubby (USC) is trying to bring his mom. His step younger brother also here in US granted asylum. When my hubby apply for obtaining his status, he put his step younger bro's DOB 05/01/1980 but when his step younger brother apply for him, his bro put his DOB 05/11/1978 on their background explain sheets.

My hubby is filling out a form I-130 for his mom. There is a question #C which is asking of all children info including DOB.

My thought is toward to put on 05/01/1980 because my hubby is the petitioner so I think my hubby should stick to what he said in the past.

What you guys think? Anyone has a similar experience?

Any advice will be highly appreciated.

    Thank you.

  10. Guys I didn't say that it is a must to have your jewelery on or to have jewelery even. But from what we noticed during the interview that she looked at this and it was an evidence of real marriage also she didn't ask about any other evidence other than the pictures. So if you have jewelery put it on, it will save you time and nerves. But if you don't for some reasons I don't think that it will be an issue and even those who are going to make ceremonies better to say this as it will add more to the reality of this marriage.

    Good luck guys...

hey is it true that I can apply for driver license with the EAD card?? as I wanna start going fast. Or doing this(apply for DL with EAD card) may give me a temporary DL and I'll need to apply for a new one after a year? I'm sorry kind of paranoid right now to make a mistake LOL

    Have a good day guys.

    Salam

Here in CA, they don't issue a DL without ssn#. Damn, strict. I went there 2 days ago with EAD but turned away. So I'm waiting for SSN. Welcome notice also didn't work, either. My waiting is still ongoing. :crying: :crying:

  11. I just want to say one thing to you guys.

About the translation matter, YOU CAN DO IT YOURSELF!!

I did myself for foreign birth certificate, affidavit letter from my mom (written in Korean). I got them through airmail ( i even keep the envelope with stamp on it just wanted to show them they are genuine). When you submit them, you just attach with certification of translator like instruction said. Instruction doesn't state that it needs to be notarized so I didn't.

I had no problem and saved lots of money. Many of people around me, we have a huge korean community, no one had a problem due to self translation.

I didn't get a chance to show them because she didn't ask she said I already have enough evidences but I heard few couple were asked for letter but they didn't prepare so they were turned away put pending until they submit them. After I heard this, that's why I told my mom and his mom to send us letters because I don't want to waste time due to one thing.

I know that it could be asked or not since this is optional, but I did and made me feel better.

  12. All my brothers and sisters on VJ... all my April filers buddies, i got approved on the spot during a 10 min interview. I'll be back to give out the story in a few hourrs. My wifey and I are celebrating like crazy. It's been a wild day since 6am. Praise to Allah.

Thank you all from the bottom of my heart. I wish you all the same, i'll be back to tell you how it happened in there

Great!! can't wait to hear ur story!!!

  13. Hello everybody! I missed you guys... Could you look at my list, is it anything I can/need to add?

    My list:

    -Lease for 2 years

    -Credit,debit,departments cards

    -Bank statements (checking,saving,credit)

    -Power,water,cable,phone bills (in both names)

    -Photos (over 600 in albums)

    -Temple membership

    -Rings receipts (engagement,wedding)

-Tickets (visiting family and they us)

    -Emails,chats

    -Receipts from gifts (while dating)

    -Call logs since 2008

    -Husband's emergency contact from school

-Local magazine (congratulation to us on the marriage)

We have past two years taxes filled on our address but they are not joint, as we were not married at that time. Should I include them?

I feel like I don't have enough. Don't get me wrong, I'm overstayed and has been married before, that's why I feel like they need tons of proofs.

When I was changing last name on my ss card , it took about 3 days, even though they say 30.

Nice!!! now you can get DL and ID!!

What about affidavit letter from your parent, his parent and friend who know about you two as a couple?

It's optional but it won't hurt you..

  15. Hey , guys

I have a question. Since I don't have EAD and GC with me, can I work? The IO told me at the interview, I'm now resident due to GC approval.

I went to Social security office yesterday to apply for number but the lady told me welcome letter is not enough I have to bring GC then she can issue me a number.

I got a job offer but don't have a social number yet but i'm a resident as you know. Is it ok to start working or still I have to wait for GC and get a number?

Any advice will be highly appreciated.

BTW, those of you who have progressed congrats!!
