Email them. I had to email both Vancouver and Montreal with questions and they were both very quick to respond. What kind of visa are in Canada on?
-
We're doing this as well. Right after POE we're getting married by Elvis in Vegas. However, it's important for us to get married by someone in our church, and we want to have a big wedding in Canada....so we're waiting till the following summer, when I will hopefully have my greencard, to have our "real" wedding.
I'm not necessarily telling them unless it comes up. I'm not going to hide it though either.

Here: http://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/recs/schedules/downloads/adult/mmwr-adult-schedule.pdf page 3, #2 outlines the Td/Tdap requirements.
As with the K1 visa your shots need to be up to date at the time of filing. If this means that you're missing shots because it's not time to get them then your DS-3025 should be marked "insufficient time internal" on the required shot. You MIGHT get an RFE for the missing shot when it comes time to AOS which is why when you get here you should go see a CS and get your DS-3025 transcribed into an I-693 just to ensure you don't get the RFE. Getting an RFE isn't a big deal though especially with something that's so easy to fix.
Do they just put the information from one form onto the other? How does that help? Sorry, I'm confused! Like if I apply for AOS in July-August, which is what Im thinking, will they delay giving me my greencard until I am able to get that third shot?

Hi all. I have my medical exam for my K1 Visa on Wednesday, and I know for it to be approved the vaccination series just has to be started but not necessarily complete. I've had two Tdap shots and need a third in December (6 months from the second shot).
So...I'm wondering, when it comes time to apply for AOS, does my series need to complete, or will I still be okay? I don't really want to wait until December to file for AOS!
Thanks

hi guys, how long do you have to be in a relationship to file for fiance visa? 2 years? or do you have to just know each other for two years before filing for the petition. please help.
You just have to had visited each other within the last two years. The two years isn't a requirement for the length of your relationship

I think it would make more sense the fact that they don't want to put anything into their computers. All the viruses out there these days, they have to protect themselves and all the information there.
-
Just so everyone knows for sure, I emailed Vancouver and asked them the question. The $350 online fee is the only fee. I just have to bring them my receipt, to prove I paid I guess.
Thanks for all the answers!
-
Thanks for the info! And that's awesome, maybe I won't have an interview either haha
-
Haha yeah I knew about the AOS :S. I was just wondering because I had to pay before I booked an interview, but in the reviews, I see people saying that they had to go to the cashier and pay...so I am wondering why they had to pay there and not when they booked?
For now its all you pay, after entering the US on K-1 and marrying you have to pay 1070$ for AOS! yuck!!
off topic, but is it unusual that you didn't have an interview before being approved for AOS?
-
I just booked my interview for May 5 in Vancouver!!! I am beyond excited. Everything is going super fast
-
ah thank you
that makes me feel better.
-
Hey guys! So I just got scheduled an interview for May 5th. woohoo
. I had to pay an MRV fee, $350, to book the interview....do I also have to pay a $350 visa application fee, or is that it now? They sure want a lot of money from us. I was under the impressions that the MRV fee was for the interview and the visa, but afterwards, in the information about what to bring to the interview, it says "The visa application fee is determined by the type of visa for which the applicant is applying. Based on the information that the applicant has provided, the visa being applied for is a Fiancé (K) visa. The fee is the equivalent of USD$350."
help?

Dont know if it will work at your consulate but I asked Vancouver to email it to me. might be worth a shot!
-
That's correct. Starting March 2011, the Vancouver consulate no longer hands the K-1 visa in person. You need to register with the DHL service and once the consulate processes the documents after the interview, it sends it to the DHL location you selected and updates the waybill number on CSC website.
You then have an option of pick up or delivery.
I had my interview today (7 hours of waiting and interview that lasted for 1 min)
Approved
and will have my passport within 4 business days.
Must say, very friendly and helpful officers at the consulate. If the paper work is in place, it's a cake walk.
Just wear comfortable shoes as the wait can be very long.
Hey just wondering if you could tell me, after you got packet four - how long did you wait until your actual interview? Thanks!
-
I did the package myself....no RFEs, we had our NOA2 in 146 days and its all gone speedy since. Just start reading LOTS. Have a friend or family member go over your forms and the rest of the package before you send it off just to make sure they can't think of more evidence, find spelling errors, or anything else wrong. You should have no problems. Just double check everything. Lawyers, and others working in their office can make the same mistakes as you. Better to save the money towards her plane ticket for POE

I may be wrong, but if she left willingly, then she wouldn't get a ban right? Isn't that only if you're deported?
-
Any pictures you have with the date and location will help. And yes, I was one of those people that printed off my facebook "wall-to-wall" with Will lol. As well as private messages. Any phone logs are good too. Can you maybe go back in your credit card statements and find where you paid for your flights to see her? that might help. Just send anything you can think of that shows your relationship.

In my opinion, EVERYONE has a right to complain or vent their frustrations. It shouldn't matter if they just filed yesterday or have been waiting 6+ months. Look at it from this perspective... (in this example both couples have lived apart during the entire relationship)
Couple A: Met for the first time 7 months ago, filed 5 months ago, still waiting
Couple B: Met for the first time 3 years ago, filed 1 week ago (couldn't file sooner, because of several reasons), still waiting
Get my drift?? Just because someone has filed a short time ago, doesn't mean they have less of a right to complain/vent than someone else.
This comes from a non filer, hoping to be one some day.
TOTALLY AGREE! I was going to write this but then I saw your post. You don't know how long people have been apart before they filed. We all miss our SO

Ok so, we called Montreal. They only have an automated phone service that tells you nothing except to email them. So last night I emailed them and requested that our case be transferred to Vancouver. It immediately sends you a message back that says not to expect a reply for two weeks. So I was a little bummed, just because that was going to hold us up another two weeks. HOWEVER....this morning, I check my email and:
"Great, I have the case right in front of me and will gladly transfer it to VAC. Please contact them in 2 weeks. Regards Op1"
THE NEXT DAY! I was soo happy.
So now I just need to contact Vancouver. But it was a completely painless process

Hmmm, that's odd.
As far as I know, Vancouver has been, and should still be handling K-1 visas for beneficiaries who live west of the Manitoba-Ontario border. Montreal handles K-1 visa applicants from Ontario eastwards, and all Canadian spousal visas. If that policy has changed no one here has heard about it, and there's been no announcement.
And yet, you're the second K-1 couple from Western Canada I've heard of getting assigned to Montreal in the last 2 weeks.
I'll give you the same advice I gave them:
Wait a couple of weeks for the petition to get from NVC to Montreal. Then call or email Montreal with the consulate case number from your NVC letter and ask them about it. Chances are they will have noticed the error [made by NVC] and transferred your case to Vancouver themselves, because that is where you should be. Give Montreal a week or two to notice it and then follow up with them. As far as I know, Montreal are still recovering from their backlog, and won't want to handle any case they don't have to.
Let us know what they say.
Thanks! Will just got off the phone with NVC. They told him that they only have the Montreal Consulate in their system, not Vancouver? which is wierd. But they said pretty much the same thing, to just call Montreal. So, he's going to try in the morning. And if it's too early to do anything than I'll do what you said and wait a couple weeks for them to get it. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one, and this seems to be an easier fix than I originally thought. I can't tell you how much of a relief it'll be if I only have to go to Vancouver!
I will update when i have more info

AlinaH,
This might help you: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/290746-uscis-k1-interviewing-cities/
Thanks, that did help! Will's going to call Montreal tomorrow. We'll see how it goes

All immigrant visas are processed in Montreal. See this page (about half way down) for confirmation -->> http://montreal.usconsulate.gov/content/content.asp?section=visas&document=immigrant_visa
Unless they changed it in the last week, Vancouver handles them too. Only Montreal handles CR-1, but both handle K-1.

Congrats!
I just found out that our petition is being transfered to the Montreal consulate which is super slow and a $1000 trip away
I'm trying to find out how to get it transfered to Vancouver. Anybody know about this?
Possibility of more than 1 K1 for the same Fiance?

I understand this process can be difficult and frustrating when it's not working out the way you want it to, however IMO your posts are pretty uncalled for. The OP is simply trying to figure out the best way to handle their future and how to go about this whole process. How about help them out instead of being judge mental and mean. Treat others how you want to be treated. It's not that hard.
