I put the address of the initial place I sent it to. The Texas lockbox. I am guessing that the address on that specific letter isn't extremely vital.
-
This might be a stupid question, but what determines what service center you get sent to?

Thanks a lot both of you! I have done some research into a couple schools I'm interested in. I even have some scholarship money that can be applied to those schools
. Now, I just need to work on how I can prove residency. If not, theres no way I am paying non-resident fees. They are absolutely killer. I've heard of other people doing it in less than a year, so I might as well try!
Thanks again!

Hey all, I know I've been asking lots of questions lately, and I am probably getting ahead of myself, but this is the last one for awhile, I promise!
I searched for a similar topic already, but couldn't find one..
Am I able to attend school in the US after getting my K-1 Visa but before our AOS is approved. I know I need to get an EAD in order to work legally, but what about school? Is there something else I need to apply for with that?
Thanks a lot!

Our package was just received today in Texas! I soo want to hear some news now. I'm not very patient. This is going to be a long wait for me
haha
Good luck!

Yeah, I know we can get a minister to do a legal wedding, but theres a few reasons we're doing it the way we are. I'm just happy to hear that it's not going to be an issue at interview time.
We're actually planning on going to vegas for our legal wedding as well. If we're going to do it this way, we might as well have Elvis marry us!
Thanks for the info, everyone!

If you included a G-1145 with your petition you will receive a txt message and/or email that they received your petition. They will also give you a WAC number. You will receive the actual paper NOA1 by snail mail after about a week to 10 days following the receipt in Texas. They will also tell you what service center it was sent to in the txt/email.
John
Sorry, I have another question! Is that when the cheque would be cashed, or does that happen at the service center?
-
Thanks a lot! Unfortunately I didn't include the G-1145 but that's ok....at least now I know where it is coming from

Fiance just sent off our package a few days ago to the Texas address. I know it's being delivered today. My question is, when I do receive an NOA1, will it be from them, or do they still have to send it somewhere else?
Thanks!

The day after we sent off the package I had huge regrets and decided that he should be moving to Canada rather than me moving down there. Then I calmed down and realized that we've thought about this for a long time and there were many reasons we chose the US to be our home. So don't worry! I'm not married yet, but I'm guessing its going to be the same right before I walk down the aisle, "am I marrying the right guy? what if we dont work out" etc...
Everyone gets cold feet sometimes. Just remember the good things and why you decided to do this in the first place. Everything will work out how it is supposed to!
Good luck to you two!

This is a long thread, but some of it may give you an idea of why some people get sent RFEs.
I hope that helps!

Alright, well I just got slack for giving my opinion on a previous question, but since no one has answered you, I'll just let you know what I've gathered from other posts. I MAY BE WRONG, so please don't take this as fact, and if you get better advice, please disregard what I've said.
From reading other posts, I believe that if they find some discrepancy in your forms, they will simply send you an RFE and you will have to correct anything that you didn't fill out correctly.
If it were me, I would just wait and see if they contact you regarding the problem.
Please, someone else correct me if I'm wrong!
Goodluck

You need to give FACTS, not opinions, especially when you have nothing to base it on. It can be very damaging to the OP and others who may read this in the archive later...
I'm sorry, I'll be more careful about that in the future

I know that if I fly into Vancouver, Canada, before flying into the US, I have to go through US customs there. It was weird the first time ii happened to me, because I was expecting to go through customs in San Fransisco. Then, when I got to San Fransisco, I just went on to my next gate, as stated above, because it was considered a domestic flight, because I'd already done the customs and immigration process in Vancouver.

Don't listen to the poster above, the file can be sent from anywhere in the world. USCIS doesn't care, as long as everything inside the package is there.
Like I said, it was just my opinion
-
Well, it's just my opinion, but I think if it's sent from Australia, they're going to look at it as being filed by you. That's just my opinion and maybe I'm more paranoid than necessary. I just wouldn't want something as simple as sending it from Australia rather than the US, or having my signature instead of my fiances, be the reason I either get denied or have a bigger hassle getting accepted.
-
I don't think it should be a problem.....however, instead of leaving the last name box blank on forms, you should write n/a or none (not sure which one is best). I also agree about sending in her birth certificate and maybe even a very short letter stating that she has no last name. Make sure you include both on the cover letter/table of contents.
-
Well, according to everything I've learned on here, the package is supposed to filed by the petitioner, not the beneficiary. So in my opinion, signing the cover letter yourself, would make it look like you, the beneficiary are filing for the petition.
I filled out all our forms (I am the beneficiary) because my fiance is in school and busy and I knew he wouldn't pay as much attention to detail as I, BUT I got him to sign everything, including the cover letter. I then gave it to him to mail out from San Diego, so that it would actually be filed by him...not by me.
So, I believe you should send your fiance the complete package (minus the signature needed), get her to sign it, and then send it off herself.

Just ask him what side he sleeps on and leave it at that and make sure you know each others answer. Unless your other supporting documentation is lacking or week and your answers to other questions are not matching up it is highly unlikely they will delve into your sleeping/sexual arrangements. I believe the whole question about consumating your marriage is asked when there is a proxy wedding.
That was my original plan, but then I decided that "pretending" we were sleeping together was deceitful and could potentially cause more problems. I want to do this the right way and decided telling the truth was the thing to do.
And sorry, but what do you mean by a proxy wedding...I'm just not familiar with that term.

What was wrong with having the wedding in Canada and then applying for a Cr1 visa?
Once you are married legally in the United States then the Canadian wedding would only be a "renewal of vowels" in the eyes of the USCIS, no need to tell them at the AOS or K1 interview. When you go to remove conditions you can submitt pictures of your "renewal ceremony" as evidence of a sustaining relationship.
We didn't want to get married and then stay apart while the CR1 visa was being processed.
i guess my question is, if they ask what side of the bed my spouse sleeps on and i don't know because we aren't sleeping together, will they consider our marriage valid?
-
So my fiance and I are Christian and it's important to us that we have a church wedding before we consider ourselves married...ie. having sex. Since I really want to have my church wedding at my home in Canada, we are planning on having our legal wedding in the states, living at his parents together, not as a married couple, and then as soon as I get my green card we can go back up to Canada and have a church wedding, at which point we will actually consider ourselves married. I know this seems backwards, but its the only way we could come up with to have our wedding in Canada and still fullfill our Christian beliefs.
My question is, is this going to be a problem at the AOS interview? We will be living in the same household, will most likely open joint bank accounts and credit cards, have a legal wedding certificate, and will already have committed to being with each other forever. We just wont be sleeping in the same bed and will be having a second wedding after I get my greencard.
I plan on being completely honest, providing plans for our wedding in Canada, if asked, and probably letters from our pastor explaining the importance of a church wedding, etc.
Thoughts/advice?

Hey, I have a good looking younger cousin, if your sister is single.
Haha sorry I'm taken
And thanks everyone who has helped!

Sorry guys, I guess it's my fault, I asked her to do it. I dont know about you, but $250,000 is a lot of money for someone like me and I was just looking for some extra support....wasn't trying to offend anyone
