  1. I did not change the name on my passport or drivers license! Your name is on your license, you can include a copy and my name was also NOT changed on my social security card at stage of USCIS. NO problems!!!!!!!!!

I'm sorry....This reply was not intended to go under "je veux ton amour" post but in general posting to the topic only.

  2. FBI says it takes 14 weeks to process an identification record. Is it possible to get just a local police record from my hometown quicker? Would that be enough to satisfy the Moroccan government, in order to get married there?

I married in Morocco and I had my local police record and it took a couple of days.........make sure you take a babtism record or something to show your religion and to prove you are of the book. We had to have this document before he could marry someone other than a Muslim. Also you will go to the Embassy in casablanca and you will need to pay for an Affidavit of nationality (them showing you are American) and also an affidavit to marry (showing you are able to marry and show prove of any divorces).........take divorce certificate with you.birth certificate.....you will need passport.....and I think employment records or paystubs is a MUST!! They will also ask for your primary, second and high school educataion and parents info......also you must have been divorced by 90 days!!...I waited 4 years to get my divorce in writing from my estranged (American) ex- husband and it was 60 days by time my first visit so we had to wait and finish marriage on our second trip. Im putting this here incase someone reads it and may be in similar situation so they will have the knowledge.

  3. Just like any other gov't agency, USCIS could possibly mess things up but not necessarily. I never changed the name on my passport and it didn't affect anything. I still haven't changed it and it's been 5 years. Personally, I wouldn't delay sending in paperwork to change the name on my passport, if I were you.

  4. Short question.....Obviously I don't have any proof of anything joint in our names because we live in different countries. I was going to send marriage cert, photos of wedding and visit, passport stamps, boarding passes, phone records....do we need to do sworn affidavits?? Please help me out here, just don't want to mess anything up. Thanks in advance

Tanya...Hi, we did not do sworn affidavits and there was no problems at USCIS.......but we did get an RFE asking for the original and Arabic marriage certificate! make sure to send it and a copy and the English translation and request the originals back and they will mail them back. I think I had a current police report and so I went ahead and included a COPY just because I had it. I also sent lots of e-mails just like he would be taking to his interview all in a binder by months and dats with chat records. Not sure if they even looked at it, but I did send it and photos of marriage and his family at the family party. Just do not forget the ARABIC certificate of marriage and the Deed of Marriage in English translation! It cost us a week of waiting to see what the RFE was and another 3 1/2-4 on international mail getting the Document here. Hopefully you were wise, and you brought back the original? Some may have sent affidavits, but we were approved without them..Good luck!

  5. I did not think of this on the passport photos!!!! Thank you so much...that will help...now he will still have to mail the The extrait du Casier Judiciaire, but at least I can have them maybe processing some of the documents unless they are like USCIS and stop the case until they get the requested RFE Documents.......Thanks for your advice. Its much appreciated....Hope you have a nice Friday and upcoming weekend

Ok I did photoshop and changed the background color and you can not tell it ever was any other color! I have them printed with extras and ready to mail Ds-230 packet TODAY!!!!!!!

  6. well i dont know if its true, but the NVC operators don't really tell u the requirements. i know they'll say mail whatever u have but after the review send u an RFE. it clearly says it somewhere about the photo requirements that the background has to b white. i can't really say if they'll accept it or not but i hope someone here who's been through this situation is able to answer u.

he can maybe take another passport style photos and send u through email and u can get it printed here. tat's what i did.

  7. Everyone knows I have waited several weeks for M'hammeds DS-230 package to arrive........ now I find out even though he has a clean record and he has mailed me the extract of police report translated and the original extrait de la fiche anthropometrique...we need the The extrait du Casier Judiciaire( even though he has no court or police records)....... Secondly, M'hammed mailed me two passport size photos but with a plain blue background instead of white!!!! The operator at NVC told me tonight I can send what I have but they will probably request new photos with white background and also the The extrait du Casier Judiciaire.........has anyone had this same issues and not received an RFE??? or was told they can be brought to the interview???

We have just went through mail taking almost 4 weeks and another 5 weeks my mail and Ds forms sent to him was misplaced in casablanca and Im trying to avoid adding on another MONTH or so to get an interview.

Thanks for any input or suggestions or express mail suggestions for Morocco especially El jadida.........Thanks again, Lisa

  8. Ok, but my original question is whether or not we need to get another copy again for the interview? We have a case complete at NVC and an assigned interview date. I just have seen some here on VJ who are preparing for the interview and are getting originals of the beneficiary documents again. Is that necessary?

Vanessa...did you have two different police reports one for court even if there were NO ARREST OR COURT records??? I did not have Mohammed to send this since I read on NVC site: since it said "IF" applicants have been convicted of a crime must submit one...so you are saying we will get an RFE??? We have already wasted so much time and he can take this to the interview with him if they absolutely need it.

    Court and Prison Records

Applicants who have been convicted of a crime must obtain a certified copy of each court record and any prison record, regardless of the fact that he or she may have subsequently benefited from an amnesty, pardon or other act of clemency.

    Court records should include:

    • Complete information regarding the circumstance surrounding the crime of which the applicant was convicted
    • The disposition of the case, including sentence or other penalty or fine imposed

  9. I think I read where you can REQUEST NVC to forward to the Embassy his birth certificate and police reports, etc. I know at USCIS I requested my ORIGINAL birth certificate and marriage certificates back and they did send them! I know what you mean about running him everywhere. Offices in Morocco are not that organized and everything is so scattered out and they want so much money for translations ($20-25 page!). I would like to ask here if you do not mind...if my husband has NEVER had a police record...should he still obtain a court record? Is it absolutely neccessary to get a COURT RECORD or can the police record be adequate enough.... and has anyone received a RFE asking for this with a CLEAN record.... Can he just get it and take it with him to the Embassy or will we get a RFE from NVC if we do not mail this with his police report???

  10. You can use your trip itineries can also prove as evidence of trips there to see your wife....I also sent e-mails and chat records and phone records from start to current at USCIS, not sure if they were needed. I also sent a police report since I already had it here. I sent photographs of wedding and with family members and i sent copy of his and my birth certificate.....We received an RFE from USCIS, they requested our ARABIC copy of marriage certificate after sending only the English translation.....passport stamps, insurance cards like BC/BS....if she is on bank accounts or beneficiary of 401K or life insurance policies since you are already married....I also had a copy of his identity card and sent it since it was in my pocession already...letters from her or copies of letter you have mailed her or receipts of mails...receipts of money grams, western unions, etc......... maybe someone can add more to the list.

  11. USCIS also sent me an RFE to ask for our orginal Moroccan Arabic marriage certificate because I sent only the ENGLISH translation which also had EVERYTHING important mentioned on it with the proper seal. Send both the ARABIC and ENGLISH copies. OUR CR-1 case took 4 months at USCIS and another one month waiting on Moroccan hubby to send Arabic marriage certificate. Also have her to send you the DS-230 form signed so when your case closes at USCIS and they forward it to NVC, you will AVOID the 3 week delay receiving the signed forms from your wife in Morocco. International mail is awful!!! Today is our 19 day waiting for signed forms from my Moroccan husband.....so it is delaying us getting a much sooner Interview date! Send EARLY cause the forms I mailed him also, got misplaced in Casa and cost us another 5 weeks! I-130 is the CR-1 if you are married. Once case is approved at USCIS, it will take 1-2 months for an interview date...maybe closer to 1 1/2 to 2 months....I would advise to wait closer to NVC stage to have your wife obtain her police certificates she will need at the NVC stage. Ours in Morocco were stamped for 3 months! So we paid for another moree current copy and I had him to send me both the Arabic and English translations. For each PAGE translated in Morocco, it will run you about $20-25 a SHEET!!!

There are plenty here on VJ who will help you with information to help guide you. Good luck in your journey.

  12. Tahlisha...I am so sorry to hear this happened to you both and without good explaination. They should have at least gave him the reason for the denial. M'hammed is working so much and extremely long hours that I don't know where he will find the time to study and prep. The man barely gets 5 hrs to sleep every night then it's back up in the early AM.........I have to wonder how they base their decision........the wife's salary? Obviously not too much religion since you are both Muslim.......did they question him of past relationships or other relationships on-line? It BUMS me how they approve some without looking at a single piece of evidence "because I believe you" and others they call liars and refuse to look at evidence brought to the interview. These CO's don't understand that when we talk to our loved ones, because of the time difference, evening here (if the wife works) and night there...we don't think to talk about past names of schools we may have attended 20-30 years ago,lol or even talk about siblings if you may not be close to the siblings...we spend the time seeing how each other's day went at work, things that may have happened, troubles bothering you, or just the fact we miss each other...It's hard for me to remember my own dates, think how hard it is for our loved ones to have to obtain so much knowlege not just about us but our family members and ex's too, lol. What they need to realize is, a terorist or scammer can remember dates and PASS their test too. Being discriminative does not make one's husband/Fiance any better or more loving than the next....They mess with people's lives by not looking at all Evidences. It's unfair to the people like Tahlisha and others who have waited their turn just to be rejected and not understand why. Just because the CO that day didn't like how he was dressed or way he answered something or if he was a handsome man or not? It makes me wonder REALLY how do they base their decision if the man has a clear police record, job record, good family, education and the wife in USA may too????

  13. Our CR-1 waited til 4 months before we received any RFE's or anything to do with the case after we recieved a letter of receiving this petition of course. If it hasn't been 4-5 months, you may not hear anything from the CR-1. I married in Morocco and filed I-130 for my Moroccan husband. Once the USCIS received the Arabic marriage certificate they requested...we were APPROVED at USCIS the next day and our case was sent to NVC..... Has it been at least 4 months since your Notice of action date on the CR-1 or I-130 petition/form? ...Our RECEIPT of NOA1 was Sept 22, 2009...got RFE on January 26, 2010...so 4 months. You can always call USCIS and tell them of the problems to the operator and ask advice what needs to be done since You have filed CR-1. If they feel it is necessary, they can put you through to higher up (their supervisor) if they do not know answers or can't resolve this. Will not hurt to try. Good luck.

  14. Did you enclose the ARABIC original marriage certificate and the translated English copy? We recived and RFE because I mailed USCIS the Translated english copy and not our original ARABIC copy of marriage certificate.....If not most cases for CR1 they wait there til 5 months and then we got our RFE and was approved the day after they received it but I did not bring our Arabic copy back to USA.

  15. I totally agree with you. My husband comes from more of a modest upbringing but also a religious family. His mother wears the hijab and scarves in public and at home too mostly ( I never saw her uncovered---just adjusting her scarf) and her children wear more westernized clothing without hijab, kaftans, scarves...but sometimes they wear when they want so it's their choice and not pushed onto them, but they respect everything behind the covering up. I agree with you this teacher is allowing this child to see it's ok not to listen to the parents and she is confused enough when seeing other children not wearing it. A lot of the children in Morocco DO NOT wear coverings and wear jeans and nice sweaters tops. Obviously this family is more strict with the teachings and it should be obeyed and it should be between the family and child to make this decision. A lot of people frown upon Islam and I hear all kinds of comments too, and I ignore it because there is stupidity between people and you just can't argue religion with anyone. I am glad I have an open-mind and therefore I think this is the reason My husband and I will get along better without religion being an argument for us. I will probably attend a Mosque service here to see for myself and I try to learn and understand this religion more and as one told me here, it's not just a religion...It's their entire culture and up-bringing and it should be respected. I think the family needs to know this school is going against their up-bringing and teachings at the family home. No one understands unless you are married into a Muslim family or are friends with Muslim families.....I know you don't want to be put in the middle, and it's a hard decision to make.

  16. I agree with everyone here. You need to keep excellent records of your relationship and they ask him questions when your wife visited you in Morocco and how long she stayed and what you did when she was here, etc....also you as the petitioner need to know that once it reaches the second stage of the process which is NVC...you sign an Affidavit of support form which is a contract between you and the government saying you are financially able to support this man for basically 10 years! You support him until he has earned 40 working credits which averages 10 years and if he has worked all these years to earn 40. If you are not able to show you are stable enough to meet this man or he can't pay for you to come to him, they will not approve you. You have to make 125% the poverty guideline the government sets each year. You have to show you can support him entirely so he does not fall upon the government for assistance. The government can sue you for paying them back too if he was to ever have to do this. You haven't met this man in person to know his true self and character. You need to meet his family and possibly friends to make sure he is who he says he is. So many women are falling into the Moroccan scams for quick visa and other country scams by not protecting themselves. At least meet this man especially if he is way younger than you... the consulate is turning down couples who have made several trips and they turn down people too on disability. Sometimes cases are hard to prove to the consulate to accept as genuine. Go read the reviews and obtain knowlege here on VJ. I am afraid, you have wasted your money too by starting the process too soon. Keep in mind too, even though USCIS homeland security may approve you, an operator told me they were separate from the NVC and US Consulate and they don't look at the same things in a relationship so nothing is a guarantee. I have been there twice and I am still worried after reading all the discrimination coming from Morocco's US Embassy. It appears sometimes its whatever mood they are in that day....Good luck to you whatever you decide.

  17. From what I have read " 221g for administrative processing/security checks is standard procedure for MENA consulates" AP is normal but I too am confused why they said Congratulations and made you feel he is approved then tell you they have SUSPENDED the processing of your visa. I have heard of others here on VJ CALLING the Moroccan consulate to speak to a live person there and maybe you can get a little more info if your husband is actually approved. I would search for the consulates number here and I am sure someone has posted it...Good luck and keep us posted.

  18. Hi...someone will correct me if I am wrong but I think the short-cuts was meaning for you to PRINT out three copies of each form...Send 3 copies to your Fiancee and have him sign them....he keeps one copy for himself and send you the other two copies back...this safeguards so that when you the Choice of Agent/Petitioner mails these forms to USCIS....if one gets LOST, you will have another for back-up to send to them. USCIS loses and misplaces forms, etc due to so many files and moving around from desk to desk I have read here.....He keeps one incase he goes to his interview and needs one or needs one for his records. .but I think you are to print two 325-A...one for you and one for spouse to fill out..use this short-cut to understand and help..... Good luck on your Visa journey

  19. Petitioner is the person who is asking for the Alien Relative to come to the USA.

Example USA citizen is the PETITIONER who is asking permission or filing for the Moroccan husband/Fiancee either a 129F (Fiancee visa or I-130 for spouse/relative).. The Moroccan Fiancee/Husband is the Beneficiary. He "BENEFITS" from the petition by recieving a visa.

Make sure he does not sign the second part of the DS-230...i understand NVC will forward this form to the Moroccan/US Consulate-Embassy and they will have him to sign this part 2 in person to witness his signature.....Hope this helps.

  20. Have you not ever met any of her family or parents? Has she never met your family or parents? In honesty, I would question it to. Parents names are on the Petitions, paperwork and is something you just know, remember, and want to know who your in-laws are and out of respect. I know my husbands sisters, brothers, parents, friends names..but of course I have met them all and my husband knows my parents and sister and her husbands name. You have got to be prepared when you go to these interviews. According to some VJ member's testimonies...they are even asking when your wife married her ex husband...where did wife go to 'Middle/secondary school'...Things we usually do not discuss or care to discuss in relationships. ...Good luck.

  21. Yeah...i would love to know what the major differences r too that make some just fly through...is it the initial application that is sent in or what?? i guess we will probably never really know :) And my fiance says the same thing...tells me not to worry, that he knows our love is true and so will the interviewer...inshallah he/she will...wish it could have been over today, but everything for a reason...so we wait for May 18th & planning for a July 17th wedding...I know, I might regret planning it, but everyone knows its all hinging on the visa, I just have to do something to keep from annoying Hicham about the interview all of the time...especially since I'm here...makes it harder to not do anything about it...lol

Well I hope everyone has good interviews & quick visa jouneys...we can all dream can't we :innocent::whistle:

    Monica

Hello Monica........i know it is stressful. My husband knows English and big words but sometimes its the simple words he does not know or is slow about understanding but once you tell him once, he is smart and remembers and he is busy with work so we haven't had a lot of tme preping for an interview. I try to follow questions here that were asked so ladies thank you for advice, help and posting your interview results. Monica don't worry too much Allah/God has brought us together and no man will keep us apart.....Lisa
