    Very sensible advice.
It is so much easier to change yourself, than to change, say... ~94 million people. The sooner you accept it, the better.
I definitely agree with you about panic and feeling out of place! It's like sharks sensing blood. OTOH, if you embrace the culture and show a desire to learn more about it, the more people are accepting of you.
Banking IS a pain! I really don't miss that part. Waiting literally hours to make a transaction. But you know...some Dept of Licensing/DMVs here in the U.S. are just as bad!

hehehe,,I guess they thought you have all the money in the world. I wouldn't be surprised if they thought so. You're always talking about all the money you're spending for your 'girl' and her family in this website. After all, you're DA MAN, right? I am actually expecting a scanned copy of all the receipts from you after that TGI Fridays dinner with her family.
You talk too much. I am hoping you are getting all the attention that you desperately need - whether it's good or bad - it's still attention, right? And you are obviously in need of it.
    Goodluck to Gretchen.

As a person living in the philippines ive learned you just have to accept whatever it is. Even if its backwards by our standards or makes no sense (which is often) , you just dont have a choice but to endure it.
But while you are in manila find some nice things to do, Mall of Asia, Robinsons mall are both nice, plenty of things to do and places to eat. Check out intramuros, its cool and the area is nice (has a starbucks)
Also keep attitude in mind, the more you panic and feel out of place the more you will be treated that way. I think its just the initial shock of being here , takes about a week to get over it.
My wife has to hear me complain all the time, i try to keep it at a minimum though
Just be happy you dont have to do any banking here

Are you f*cking serious? You really sent this email???
You really felt "in terrible danger?"
If you're so afraid of "peddlers and beggars," how much more when you're in the States?
What's your point? Whoever pays gets to dictate policy and procedure? Completely absurd...
This is the kind of thinking and attitude, which subjects a certain society/people subservient to another. I'm happy that you seem financially secure, but money (and where it comes from) isn't everything. You need to follow rules and regulations, regardless if they are backwards to you.
If you refused to give her the payment, then this would only delay your medical...and, eventually, your interview, as well. Not a very intelligent choice. This thread seems more like a TANTRUM than a valid complaint.
I completely agree with the previous comments. You may have been allowed to enter had you taken a more diplomatic approach. Have you ever heard of sipsip? You should try it sometime. It works wonders.
Anyway, good luck with your upcoming interview!

    Darren...
Quit making excuses. Your tantrum had nothing to do with your eyesight. And please don't tell me that poor eyesight is something I don't understand. I understand it very well. I go nowhere without my glasses. You made a choice to behave like the Ugly American. As a fellow American, I was ashamed by the arrogance and ignorance contained in your email.
It's plain and simple. You had other choices, but you chose to behave poorly. You also chose not to listen to those with experience at St. Lukes.
By the way, how is it possible for you to forget your glasses? If your eyesight is that bad, you would have known that you weren't wearing your glasses even before you stepped out of your friend's car at the airport. What's up with that?
Also, I never travel without a spare pair of glasses. With your eyesight, why would you choose to travel overseas without a extra pair. And please don't use the excuse that your glasses are too expensive to risk losing them overseas. Look at the position you put yourself in because you chose not to take along an extra pair of glasses.
Further, why didn't you choose to have your friend FedEx your glasses to you? You could have had them in three days. Or, why didn't you choose to simply get another pair of glasses in Manila? I guarantee they are way less expensive there. You could have done so in a day or two. Instead, you chose to go around blind. You seem to be making a lot of poor choices and not owning up to the consequences of them.

Markieboy got a reaction from JimyAnita in HOW TO TRACK YOUR CASE FROM NVC TO EMBASSY
Umm, sure there is! You call NVC.
Applicant: I'm calling to find out the latest update on our case.
Operator: Your case was completed and was sent to the Embassy.
Applicant: Can you please tell me what date it was sent?
Operator: Your case was sent on Wednesday, March 16th.
Applicant: Okay, thank you very much!
There is no assumption about it. Applicants can request the latest information from an NVC operator, which includes the date their case was sent to the Embassy. No, you don't have an actual tracking number. But you don't need one. You use the art of communication and the gift of common sense.
Just because you were unsuccessful with it doesn't mean others will be. Maybe you didn't do it correctly. Many others have had success with it, including myself. And yes, it does make us happy!

I highly recommend you reading this guide. It was written mainly for IR-1 visa, but alot of the information applies to IR-2 visa. I used this guide when filing for my stepdaughter (IR-2) and had zero problems.
Since your stepdad is the one petitioning, he would need to print out the AOS and IV barcoded cover sheets. You stepdad needs to complete the AOS packet, which is mainly financial/tax documents. You will need to submit documents (mostly NSO documents) for the IV packet to your stepdad. Please keep in mind that ALL documents MUST BE ORIGINAL. IMHO, I would recommend getting several copies of each NSO document (3 birth certificates, 3 CENOMARs, etc) It will be useful when you attend your interview.
Do you have your NVC (MNLXXXXXXXXX) case number? If you do, it is highly advisable to get your medical exam done. You'll need a copy of an NVC email, having your NVC number, passport photos, and passport. The exam will normally take 2-3 days.
Again, just follow that guide...and you should have no problems. Good luck and keep us posted!

Markieboy got a reaction from Tahoma in Is it really such a bad thing for a filipina to be with a foreign man?
No, there is nothing wrong with a Filipina being with a foreign man. If the two are happy together, why should this be of concern to others?
IMHO, this is a perfect example of crab mentality or sour grapes. People who say some sh!t about couples do that because they are small and insecure people. They wish they were in another, better situation. But, since this is not possible, they resort to tearing down others. It is done out of spite and bitterness.
If people will talk about you, they will talk about you in the Philippines...in the States...and wherever you go. There are haters worldwide. You can't please everyone. So as long as the two of you are happy, that's what really matters.

    Hello everyone!
I have seen many members here copy and paste timelines on their post, rather than their signature. Other members would comment and instruct them how to create and edit their signatures.
I thought it would be appropriate to make a tutorial video for new members to VisaJourney. I have learned much from many on this forum, and I would like to give back.
