I'm Canadian and my fiance is American. We are in the first stages of our K1 visa....I had a question about getting a temporary EAD while I wait for my AOS? Is that possible?

Once I do move do I have to go for another driving exam for my drivers license ??? I already have a BC license.

And it also depends what country the beneficiary is from. Some consulates are quick, some, not so much. Remember those time estmates are just that "estimates"

I looking at the processing time for the Vermont office and it states 5 months. Does this include my interview in Vancouver??? Or is that the time to get the NOA 2 letter to my fiancee? Also do some cases go through faster then others?

Also when I have my POE into the US, can I get a EAD, while my AOS goes through?????

I do apologize if I have offended anyone here personally for any reason.

I tend to approach a lot of things from a sarcastic point of view a lot of times and one that also gets amused by people who get up-tight about silly little things.

No harm was meant and I'll try to do better about expressing a better opinion on things that fits better with people so they don't take it as an 'attack' but more of an 'indifference' on certain subjects.

People won't always agree on things, that's a given. Just know I'm not attacking anyone personally. I can be very critical of things and am of my own state and country as well as others.

My fiancee got the NOA 1 last week and are waiting for the NOA2.

What should I be doing while they are reviewing the forms? I'm Canadian and my fiancee is American.

I don't know how to get the long form birth certificate and what other documents do I need to get together?

Also does he need to fly here for the K1 interview? When does the medical happen..day of the interview??

Hello everyone

My boyfriend is American and I'm Canadian. We are going to do the K1 visa due to the long delays in Montreal.

I'm wondering if anyone is doing the K1 visa ??? How long is the wait, for an interview for the Vancouver office??? Also will I be getting a copy of NOA 1&2 forms in Canada or does it only go to my bf in the US??

Also after we file the K1 visa, can I go visit him for a few days??? Or even go shopping in Seattle??? These maybe silly questions but I'm new to all this.

Just had another question about the CR1 visa...what are the pros and cons compared to the K1 visa other then it takes a few months longer...

Also when I do have my cr1 interview would my boyfriend have to go to the interview in Montreal????

Its expensive to fly both of us to Montreal ...and if we decide to go the K1 route...how long would that take possibly?? How many AOS interviews and how long before i get my ssn????

I'm a little confused about this whole process but this website has been VERY helpful. So thanks to everyone that has helped me so far!!

I just found out that I would have to go to Montreal for my CR1 interview.

Now if I apply for the K1 visa, once I get my K1 interview and get my visa...and after we get married. We send the forms etc within the ninety days..... do I go back to Canada and wait for AOS or can I stay in the US and wait for the rest of the process to go through? and is the K3 visa the same process???

I was reading forums about the Montreal wait times for processing for CR1 visa and its close to 6months.

Please help...thanks everyone!!!!!

I found some good information on this website and still have a few more unanswered questions,

My boyfriend is American and I'm Canadian. We are planning to get married in the Spring. I think the CR1 visa is the best route for us.

Once I got to the US in the spring and we get married. Can we go ahead and apply for the cr1 and I continue to stay in the US till it goes through?

I know Canadians can visit upto 6 months. Also who goes for the interview. Do I go for the interview or both of us to to seperate interviews?
