  1. Hello Carolie and everyone,

    Thats weird that they told you 9-12 weeks because the first time we sent in our additional documents, they received it around February 9 or so and they actually sent a letter to my husband that was dated the 27th asking for more stuff. That means it took them about 2 weeks or so to look at it and ask for more so definitely not as long as they told you. Also, other members on VJ have received their's within 4-6 wks and ofcourse there are other poor souls who it took longer for. Lets just hope we will be in the sooner pile!

    I am one of the poor souls!!! :(

  2. I called DOS today, they say its taking about 9-12 weeks to get to the additional documents. I sent my stuff in in the beginning of march, and they still havent looked at it from what I can tell.

    Really,Coralie? Tomorrow will be my 6th week since I sent in the additional documents. In one of the sheets that the interviewer gave me after my interview was an instruction on how to send in the additional documents and at the bottom of the sheet it says.."pls allow 4 weeks from the time you send correspondence to receive a reply from the Consulate" ARRRRGGG...they should have changed this statement :angry:

  3. UGGG.. perhaps. My mom sponsored me to Canada 8 years ago when I graduated high school. Just when the time came for me to get my canadian citizenship, is when I met my hubby, so I never persued it. Perhaps me still being a PR after all these years has raised some kind of "red flag". They didnt mention it or even ask about it at my interview though.

    Wow, this really worries me now. I've been waiting for my visa,too. It's been over 5 weeks since I submitted the additional docs. Hopefully, my status here is not an issue.

    When I received an email from Montreal in response to my query as to the status of my case (after 2 weeks that I sent the additional docs)they did not mention that I am into an AP. They (MTL consulate) said that once the documents are matched with my file they will review them and advise me and due to the high volume of mail they cannot guarantee that my visa will be issued on date that I requested.

    I am hoping that there will be some news from the Congressperson office's this week! Whew!

    Hubby checks canadapost 3x a day, hoping he can find results of our tracking number :(

    I'd like to believe that i wrote down the wrong tracking number so that I would just be surprised if my visa is on the mailbox!

  4. Yes someday this will be over for all of us.

    Now when he sends that letter for the Canadian Immigration should he send in his passport as well? I sent my passport in with the additional docs when I submitted them at MTL.

    What exactly is a CENOMAR? Certificate of No Marriage( had to obtain if from home country-Philippines)

    Are you from Canada? I've been here in Canada since 2008 (working visa)

    Do you mind me asking what your status is in Canada? Right now, I have a visitor's permit until December 2010.

    You actually emailed the US Consulate and got a quick response lucky you. I emailed them on Feb 9 and I just got a response on March 25.--- Yes, I got an email from them on the following day.

  5. I spoke with my hubby last night, and he told me that he received a letter from the US Consulate. The letter said that he needed a letter from the Canadian Immigration on his pending case there. Now I called the DOS yesterday and the lady didn’t even tell me that they had sent out a letter the only thing she told me was his file had been touched this month. I sure hope they can issue his visa once they receive the letter from the Canadian Immigration on his status there. His case is still in AP pending the letter they just asked for. :wacko: This is totally driving me crazy. Can anyone give me any feedback with him not having any status in Canada, but a pending asylum case with this letter from the Canadian Immigration can he still be issued a visa? :help:

    Mstangie, when I had my interview last Feb 8 ( I saw your husband on that day,too) I was asked to submit a proof of my legal status in Canada since my work permit expired in December of 2009. I told the interviewer that my visitor's visa application in Canada was approved on Feb 2 (thru CIC phone service inquiry) and told her that the mailing of the visitor's permit will take 7-10 business days, but still she wanted me to show it to her. Actually, I got a mail from CIC on that day of my interview. I was asked for a CENOMAR,too. I submitted those on March 3 with my passport. I emailed Montreal on March 23rd telling them that my husband is scheduled for a surgery on Apr22nd and got a response on the following day saying:

    "Once the documents are matched with your file we will review them and advise you. due to the high volume of mail we cannot guarantee that your visa will be issued by the 22nd"

    Yesterday, my husband faxed a detailed letter about our application to his CongRep which hopefully today the CongRep office will contact Montreal so that we can hear something promising about our case.

    I may not answer your queries, Mstangie. But I am hoping and praying that we (Coralie, mstangie and tHund3r who were interviewed on FEB 8) will soon get over this whole process and be together with our loved ones because after all, this is what this visa is for.

  6. Hi everyone!

    Just letting you know I'm waiting to hear back from a few people to confirm their interest and get their info (I have PMed them, just waiting for a reply), then I'll be doing a draw! It might not happen until tomorrow morning. Get excited! ;)

    :dance:

    just sent my email to you..i am so excited!!! :dance: :dance: :dance:

  7. Well, I think after trying to get my IR-1 visa for 3 and a half years, having my interview on Feb 8th,only to be put into AP, Im feeling ready to give up. At this point I think theyre just trying to find reasons to not let me immigrate, and they can have it. I was pregnant when I left after we got married, thinking it would be 9 months tops, and our daughter is now 3. :( This just sucks nuts so bad.

    Coralie, were you the one who got A that day? Mine was letter D. I was asked to submit additional documents on that day. The Consulate received my additional docs on March 23rd and until now I am waiting for my visa.

    I do understand how you are feeling because me and my husband have been separated for almost 2 years since we got married.

    Don't give up! I do believe great things will happen to those who wait!

  8. Hey, when did you send your email, what did you say and when did you get a reply?

    Reason I ask, is because there are many of us here that have sent emails, waited several weeks without any reply.

    I have sent 3 total emails throughout this entire process.

    1) When filing out my forms after my interview at the Toronto Consulate before the interview with the Montreal Consulate. Emailed a question about a question I didn't know how to answer, and they replied within a week.

    2) Emailed after my interview at the start of January after being denied due to needing further proof of domicile, asking a question about my passport and the return envelope. It's been 7 weeks and never got a reply.

    3) Emailed just over a week ago, to check on the status of my case and tried to ensure it was in fact received. Never got a reply.

    I'm starting to suspect that they are screening emails, and only answering the ones they feel need or deserve an answer.

    Hey, when did you send your email, what did you say and when did you get a reply?

    I e-mailed them yesterday that I had my interview last Feb 8 and the interviewer asked me to send additional docs which I submitted and received at MTL consulate via Fexed last March 3. In my emailed I mentioned that my husband's surgery(rotator cuff)is scheduled on April22nd.

    This morning, I got their reply.

    My additional docs were not of domicile issues. I was asked on my visitor's permit( legal status in Canada) and the CENOMAR.

    This waiting time is so frustrating... :crying:

  9. I am crossing my fingers that there will be a positive response from the email that I sent today at MTL Consulate. Tomorrow will be my third week after I submitted the additional documents. Hubby is scheduled for a rotator cuff surgery on April 22nd.

    :crying:

    Got a reply from MTL consulate and this is what it said:

  10. Hi there! I had my interview last August and was denied and needed to send in additional doc's. I sent the first one back in August and got it back 4 weeks later and was denied again....needed more doc's. I sent the second package the first of September and hadn't heard from them in 8 weeks...so husband contacted Congressman (seemed to work since we got answer within a week of that) and was denied again....need more info. Then we changed everything up....whole life!! LOL.....and sent in package #3 on January 14 of this year. After 4 weeks of waiting...I was inspired by trailmix and her comment about how you shouldn't wait to contact Congressman..yada yada yada...and so husband contacted again! 2 weeks later I finally had my Visa!! That last package was sent January 14 and got it back on March 3. I honestly believe the Congressman email had something to do with it....only in the sense that it made the consolute look at my file. I too believed that contacted the Congressman would annoy the Montreal Officers....they had/have total control over a lot of people's lives! It's easy to say....you shouldn't worry about them being annoyed since it's their job and they work for the people.....but when you are the person waiting for the approval and knowing that you can't be a family until it comes....then it's a total different story. I would recommend calling your congress person when you are comfortable with it and after the original '4 week' waiting period has past. The 4 weeks that I am referring to are the 4 weeks that it 'usually' takes to get a response. On my final package...I waited until the 5th week knowing that by the time the consolute received email from Congressperson, it would be in week 6. Hope this helps.

    My goodness, I really have to wait for that "4th week" :crying::crying::crying: ...hubby and I talked about this...a week before we reach our "4th week", we will contact his congressman or a senator whom he knows to help us with this.

  11. The gal yesterday at the window told us the mail backlog right now at MTL is 8 weeks. I'd take that into account for anything you mail in.

    Kbaltex, the guy you're reffering to is one of the MTL Consulate officers/workers? This is so frustrating to know...I sent my additional docs last week..SIGH! :unsure:

  12. APPROVED!

    :dancing::dance::dancing::dance::dancing:

    Back at the hotel now after the interview. It was all very smooth and easy...nothing to worry about! I froze my butt off outside the consulate for about an hour and a half before the doors opened (I got there at about 6:10), and sort of regretted getting there THAT early, because the next person didn`t get there until about 6:45...AND he wound up getting the A! :protest: It was because they had two x-ray lines going and I guess I was a bit slower than the other guy. Grr.

    Anyhow, I`ll post a review shortly! Just wanted to let you know in the interim that I got in! Wheee!!!

    Whooo hoooooooooo! :dance::dance::dance:

  13. Hey Everyone,

    I am a VJ newbie who is in need of some help! I am getting ready for my medical in TO on April 5th and am a bit confused about immunizations, specifically Dr. Seiden's website immunization requirements.

    Since I have no immunization records, I am planing on getting my MMR and Tdap next week at the travel clinic. But what worries me is the timing. Do I have to have the Tdap within 4 weeks of the medical? I may be reading too much in to this, but as we all know, the closer you get to the end, the more the little details freak you out! Thanks for your comments in advance!

    Combination Vaccine for:

    * Tetanus Diphtheria (Td)

    * Tetanus Diphtheria Pertussis

    An initial series of three immunizations, which are normally received in childhood at ages 2, 4 and 6 months and a booster immunization within the last 10 years must be documented.

    or

    If you have no proof of a primary series you must begin an adult series of TWO doses of Td 4 to 8 weeks apart with a third dose 6 to 12 months after the second. You must be as up-to-date as possible with your series at the time of your immigration medical.

    or

    You must have proof of a Td booster within the 4 weeks prior to your immigration medical.

    or

    An antibody titers blood test showing proof of immunity to tetanus and diphtheria.

    I did not have any medical records of my vaccinations in Canada,too. What I did was I got a Td shot at a clinic and I asked a written note from the doctor's secretary that I had it--that includes the date of the shot, name of the shot and the doc's signature.

    I had the antibody titers blood test,too. I got the lab result 5 days after I had the test.

    Good luck!

  14. It's official! VISA APPROVED!!!

    Waiting since 615...cold....one other couple ahead of us. little after 730 doors opened, felt like I was in the DMV, Visa approved. Out by 930.

    More details late tonight or tomorrow.

    Awesome!!! way to go,Mike777!!! wooo hoooo! :dance:

  15. I know what you mean exactly Trialmix. I this the wait time for Montreal is killing and no one wants to take any chances :(

    That is absolutely right...when your interview date is getting closer, the more that you will think all the WHAT IF's in the world!!! When I had my interview, all the proofs that I can think of were on a big plastic bag(JACOB) with me. Though, in my appointment letter, it says everything is submitted at NVC. The CO did not bother to ask anything from those stuffs that I have in my JACOB plastic bag:-)

    I was just so shocked that I was asked about the CENOMAR---it never occured in my mind that I will be asked so does our lawyer. When I asked our lawyer about the additional doc, she told us that the CO has the discretion to ask additional doc during the interview.

    Good luck on your interview....You will be fine.
