  1. Kimbear - great news! Glad to hear that the roller coaster ride has deposited you safely in green card land.

We had the interview today. The adjudicator totally good cop/bad cop-ed us, which was a bit unnerving, but we passed, and my email is showing me those beautiful words:

"Application Type: I485 , APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS

Your Case Status: Card/ Document Production

On January 18, 2011, we ordered production of your new card. Please allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you. If we need something from you we will contact you. If you move before you receive the card, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283."

    Wahoo!

Thanks for all your help and support through the ride!

  2. I just wanted to update this thread and let you all know that our Green Card was put into production today!

    Yay!

 Whew hoo! Finally. Just got the update from USCIS: Card production ordered!

Congrats to both of you! Great news!

We have been called in for an interview on Jan. 18th. Hopefully this is the last hurdle we have to go over before we get E's green card!

  3. Welcome to the U.S., Jess! It's been a long time coming, and this long peninsula of Florida delights to have your lovely self in it. Hope you're feeling better!

Congrats on the GC, Naddy! I hope the job search treats you better! Keep your chin up, and something great will reward you!

Congrats on the GC to you, too, Jl_n_JL!

Our case was transferred back to the local office in Miami, presumably so that it can meet up with the medical file someday. I'm not going to worry about what's happening for another month or two, since Ewan is working and will be starting graduate school in January, we have no immediate need for the GC anyway. As long as we can get it before his work permit expires!

  4. APPROVED!!! APPROOOOOVED!!! Finally!! :D:dance::D

    FINALLY!!! Green card approved.

Wahoo! Congrats, you guys, on the GCs! Excellent!

Our case was transferred back to the local office, waiting for the medical file to link up, I suppose. I'm not too fretty about it, because as long as Ewan can work and start University, we don't really NEED the GC immediately. After another month or two, though, I'm sure I'll have a different tune to sing about it...

  5. Are you fracking KIDDING? I called USCIS today to try to find out why we have no touch and no indication that USCIS has received the RFE back even though it was delivered to CSC over a week ago. The (actually very nice, but still...obviously reading from a script!) lady on the phone basically said that they can't put in a service request or anything at all until it's been 60+ days since we mailed the response. SIGH. She said that most of the time the centers don't send an update until they make a decision. So I could be worrying about this for the next 52 days. Of course, if they haven't received it by then it will be denied. Sigh. I am so ready for this to be over :(

WHAT?! Man, that's BS! Ours was mailed and delivered, and they put a touch within a week of delivery. Of course, that touch was to say that they've mailed the file back to the Miami USCIS office so that we can go back to Initial Review and start the process from the beginning again, but still. How can they not tell you that they've at least received the thing?! Oh, Katie, I hope by the time you've check VJ again, you've gotten some good news. All the best!

  6. I am very excited but also very nervous and a bit emotionally overwhelmed at the moment!! In the last few days I have said goodbye to my best friend, my flatmate (and also my own best man :)), my step-dad and moved out of my flat in Leeds where I've lived for 2 years, the longest I've lived anywhere since before I went to university...my friends and family are my whole world so the last few days have reminded me how strong I will have to be to not let the homesickness break me. But I know once I get stateside and I'm living it I'll be ok :)Only 2h20m to get through immigration at Chicago though...wish me luck!!

Good for you, Jess! It'll be worth it. Wish you a pleasant and exciting trip, with not too much homesickness.

Well my wife and I had our AOS interview yesterday. Took about 15 minutes, and the man said approved. Green card should be on its way in about a week. :DHope everyone else is doing well. :D

    Great, wonderful news! congrats!

Congratulations good.gifAlso, we got our gc in mail today too!!All my information seems correct,no silly mistakes.I hope you get your RFE matter sorted out Megan :) I am so relieved, good God! smile.gif

    That's great, congrats Anwesha!

Our file has been sent back to the Miami office and we're in Initial Review again. Looks like we're back to the beginning of the process and in for a long haul. But hopefully we won't have to re-do the biometrics, and at least Ewan has his work permit. So whatever, as long as we get the GC eventually, and don't have to hire a lawyer or pay hundreds of dollars for a new medical (the ol' student salary isn't too kind to expenditures like that...) we're cool.

  7. Ok, everything is signed & ready to go! I'm sending it off today...wish us luck on an approval next week!!

Glad to hear that everything is on its way to being resolved!

We sent a letter in response to the RFE requesting that our files be located from the border control and joined with the GC application (woman at the infopass told us we could try this instead of doing another medical). It will probably take ages to be resolved, but hopefully it will be without us having to do anything else. At least Ewan is working, as has been accepted to graduate school for the spring semester.

  8. Well kids, I quit my job today!! I am simultaneously feeling liberated and poor ;)

Less than 2 weeks and I will be stateside...so excited!!

Great! Good for you, Jess! Are you getting excited?!

Good Luck with your big move Miss Jessgood.gif .Our whole crew will finally be here,so excited for you!

In other development ,today morning I got an email saying our gc was in card production.I am relieved but I hope it's not one of those trick things. One can never trust those unless one gets the card in hand.

Anyway, I hope everyone's doing great,Job hunting is sometimes just frustrating, today I got rejected within 5 minutes of applying to one. That fast I meanblink.gif

    Ho Hum!

Anwesha, I'm sure you'll get some luck soon on the job front. Congrats on the GC in production! What sweet news!

We had an infopass on Thursday, and they told us we can send a letter asking them to look for the lost medical and join it with the file when they find it, so we've done that, and hopefully it will work!

  9. First off, congrats to all of those who got their greencards!

MalolostoUSA - Grrr! I hope they get their butts in gear! Best hopes that this will soon be behind you.

Katie and Sifa - what a nightmare this is turning out to be! I'm sorry to hear it hasn't been a quick, easy fix like we all hoped. What did you hear back from the private pulmonologist guy?

Things haven't been going smoothly on our end, either:

Got home last night to find a letter from the USCIS (after what was already a pretty awful day). It contained a change of address form and an RFE that had been returned to sender and sent back to us, asking for the FULL MEDICAL!!   And of course, they didn't extend the date, so it's due by Oct. 21st.

I'm so torn because I don't want to pay a zillion more dollars to do another bloody medical which we don't even need. I'm going to get Ewan to call and email the place in Christchurch where he did his medical for the K-1 and see if they can mail us a copy. Thank goodness we still have the DoS vaccination form (we sent one of two originals WITH the GC application, but of course they seem to have lost it).

Of course, there's the confusion that the online system says that the card is in production, so I called the customer service line, and talked to two people. One person said that yes, it was in production, but then she transferred me to someone else who said, "Document production can mean anything that they send to you." #######?! So, we've made an infopass appt, but couldn't get in until Oct. 14, meaning that we only have a week to answer the RFE after if that's what they tell us to do.

    SO FRUSTRATED!!

  10. Oh. my. goodness.

Just when we thought we were out of the woods...

  11. WOW!! Congrats on all the recent Green Card approvals and receipts!

Aaaand now we have an RFE...what the heck?? I'm assuming it's probably the same as that_girl. Sigh. I don't know what it could be for, since they've had it this long. If it's medical, he completed that less than a year ago so it's still valid...also shouldn't they have asked for whatever information it is that they need long ago!? It took 4 months to determine that something was missing? Frustration... :girlwerewolf2xn:

I sent you a PM, but hopefully it's just a "transitional" RFE, and your status will change to "Card Production" like ours did today (with no explanation!) Even still, I won't believe in that GC til I see it with my own eyes! Good luck to you two, and keep us posted.

I sent a letter off to our congressman today hoing that maybe he will be able to get our case moving along. It is 3.5 months now and I still haven't even recieved a letter for my bio appt  I think that it is even more frustrating that my husband (the USC) wouldn't do this for me!!!

Frustrating! I hope that this is the thing that gets the ball rolling, and your issue is resolved soon!

  12. Hey girls :)

I just had time to read EVERYTHING for the past 3 weeks lol

Gratz on the bio Anwesha , you go to Charlotte NC right? they won't even look at the date for the walk-ins, so just go ahead lol

Megan, RFE sucks >.< hope it's not something important and you will get approved faster after, just like the K1 RFEs lol

Travis, all my application got sent back to Missoury :bonk:. So I guess they must have opened a new office over there, hopefully they are more motivated then Cali lol

I received my EAD card last week, now I just need to translate that resume of mine, but have no idea on how to >.< . My job title doesn't even exists in America. They are so lazy here, that the 5-6 assignments I used to do in France with a single "job title", here, they assign 1 person for each assignment >.< . I'm still trying to figure out what to put in that resume, I think I'll have a 5 pages resume >.<

Oh, and Mrs D says Hi, things are getting complicated, but once she tame the dog, she will come back

    Hii Naddy and others,

I was able to successfully do a biometrics walk-in this afternoon at the Durham centre. Was in and out in may be 10 minutes,so that was easy peasy :).I am hopeful of seeing some action on the EAD now.

Good luck to everyone else :) Keep us posted Megan, really hope it's something silly. If not, like you said, this does not suck as bad as getting held up in the earlier phase.

Good luck with your job hunt Naddy good.gif

Oh after posting this I checked our case status, and guess what, my EAD has been approved :)kicking.gif

Wooooo!! Great news about the EADs, Anwesha and Naddy! Congrats! Naddy, I suggest you translate your job title as "Queen of the Universe" :)

Do you two know what kinds of jobs are available/what you want to do? Good luck on the application process, and such. Keep us posted!

Oh, and give Mrs. D our love!

As for the RFE, dudes, USCIS is at it again. Maybe they just wanted to stress me out a bit, because now I've gotten an email and online status update saying that it's CARD PRODUCTION! I hope they're not lying to me... I won't believe it til I see it!

  13. finally, finally we got our biometrics appointment notice ,but it is for the 1st of Oct.We will attempt a walk-in this week ,fingers crossed for it !!!

Megan, did you find out the reason for the obnoxiously timed RFE?Keep us posted if possible.I really really wish you get done after this!!High time for you guys good.gifgood.gif

Great! I hope the biometrics walk-in goes well.

Still haven't gotten the RFE in the mail. Will let you know what the story is when we know. At least we have work and school to keep us busy. I'd much much rather be hung up on this step than to have had this happen during the K1 process :star:

  14. So I got a email update over the holiday weekend. I thought it had to do with the greencard. What about it was a update that my fiance petition I-129 was approved June 2009. Really? Wow.... Oh well, the waiting continues, lol...

Ha! Nice. Timely as always, USCIS...

    GC RECEIVED!!!

    Great! Congratulations!!

I was shocked to log into our portfolio today and find a touch on the GC! First one since the 10 of July! Hopefully that means it's in the pipeline.

  15. Well, I received my SSN yesterday.

Guess what? WOOOHOOOOOOOOOO my GC was approved today!!!!!!!!!! yeeeeeeeeeeeeee :dance::dance::dance:

10 YRS GREEN APPROVED TODAY IN I551 STAMPED AND SEALED, HERE IN MY REVIEW FROM GARDEN CITY, NEW YORK.

The interview was schedule at 2 pm today, we got there at 1:30. We were told to wait in waiting area, then we were called to go upstairs at2 pm, we waited about another 45 min. After a while a white lady in her early 50's said call us into her office. First we were told to swore. Then, she proceed by asking a simple question: how did a girl from Honduras got married with a man from ivory coast. Sobe answer because she was ask the question indirectly.

Then she asked how long did we get married after we met each other. Sobe said a year and I said bout ten month to a year.

She then proceed with the yes or no questions at the back of the i485 to me. She asked about being ever arrest for any crime. I said yes that I used to sell DVD and cd on the street. She asked for disposition paper the original since she had the copy already. Then she told m that I will get my 10 year green card in 2 week and can apply for citizenship in three yrs. She then stamped and sealed the I-551 in my passport an said that I can travel any time I want from today. :D:dance:

Congrats to both of you, lucky Green Card folks! Great news!

  16. Hey everyone! Been gone for a while, good to see words from all of you :luv:. I just started graduate school, and it's been busy! Ewan's working now, which is good. Keepin' the boy outta trouble. We moved into a new apartment and finally own our own dishes, pans and furniture. Still waiting for the elusive GC (no touches since July 10!) but all's well. Ewan passed his driving test and scored well on his GRE (the standardized test you need to take to do graduate school in the US), so he's pretty stoked.

Thanks guys... I'm still a little stunned, and very happy, but there are so many people who filed way before me and were transferred to CSC who have no approval :( Not very fair processing - something the Nov 09 K1 filers are all too familiar with. Nevertheless, I am so happy to be able to start looking for work.

    Wow, KisK! That's great! Congrats!

    Hi Everyone!

Our first exciting update in awhile, we got an approval notice for AP today. No word on EAD or AOS yet though and I must say those are the two that we are more interested in getting. Hopefully soon, good luck to all of you as well!

Great! We got our AP without them acknowledging it at all - just showed up in the mail. Maybe the same thing will happen with your EAD?!

Jess - What a cutie! You guys look so delightfully happy!

  17. WOW! So much good news to come back to! I love it!

WhooooHOOOOO !!! Approved at Interview , Green Card on the way in next few weeks :) Was a great Interview and amazing officer that Interviwed , we are blessed in Love and this family is shining brihtest today . Thank you everyone from the word go of our K1 till now for all the support and words , you have all been fantastic , so happy to be done with this process for a couple of years , now we can live like a normal coiuple and family :)

Excellent! That's great - congrats to you both, and enjoy the USCIS-free next couple of years!!

Yes, we were approved for a 2 year GC today as well. Our officer was very personable and nice. She barely looked at any of our evidence, and did NOT ask any classic "newlywed game" questions. She commented how all our paperwork was in order. It was interesting to see all our stuff in a file on her desk. So, don't stress too much if you are a legitimate couple. Chances are, your USCIS officer will be able to see that a mile away.

ps, Speaking a COMMON LANGUAGE seems to be a MAJOR FACTOR in getting an "easy interview" and GC approval.

Nice to take a break from the USCIS for awhile!

    Good luck to all waiting!

    :star:

Great! Congratulations! Good to hear you had a pleasant and easy interview experience. Enjoy the shiny new PR status!

    Congrats Hopp!!! Great news :)

Sifa got a job! So that is our good news for the week. He started tonight...really weird being in the apartment alone again! It's been 6 months since he got here and this is the first time in all those months I have come home to an empty apartment. Weeeeird! I'm really happy that he got a job though, and he's super excited to be working!

Great! congrats to Sifa! I hope that you get used to the empty house (and the happy hubby!!) before too long :)

GREEN CARD CAME IN THE MAIL TODAY!!! Congratulations to everyone else who has gotten approved.

Starting to settle into a schedule. He is working at a job he really wanted and is enjoying; we're done with USCIS for awhile; and church ceremony is only a few months away.

    Great! Congratulations!
