We had Saddam under UN sanctions for 10 years. He was still thumbing his nose at us. How long were you willing to give it? The UN is a useless body. They cannot do anything. As far as I am concerned the UN should be disbanded.

Part of the problem Gary, the US has never really either backed the UN or the issue of human rights (partly because the US wants to continue to be able to do 'its own thing'. The US doesn't have an unblemished human rights record)

The fact that Sadam was 'thumbing his nose' at us was irrelevant and yes, these things can take years and no, the US didn't really care that much about the human rights issues in Iraq then, nor does it now.

war needs the existence of god to propogate itself. w/out the delusional directive from god we could have avoided many many wars/conflicts.

if you take god out of the picture, you leave people to fight for something they can achieve, and thus the war must come to an end.

when your platform is we're fighting evil - well there will always be evil to fight - you never win, the war continues, the rich keep pocketing from the spoils of war while the poor send their children off to the slaughterhouse all under the false pretense that god is on their side and they are waging a just and noble cause.

war is war. both sides are screwed. if you have any faith in this almighty, omnipotent being called god - why on earth would he want ANYONE to kill that what is gods? who benefits when two individuals, groups, countries go to war - evil.. evil has already won by bringing out the worst in everyone.

so, back to my original point - war needs god to exist.

i predict speedy approvals and letters to everyone stating that their cases have been completed, and an order for the gc to be processed has been issued.

look for this in the next 24-72 hours. valentines day present from the uscis. or wishful thinking on my part... ;-)

maybe they are trying to get everyone done before the extension is valid for - i think someone just already said that...ok back to work.

what's even odder is that typically i am used to emails being generated overnite - at like 4am.

i got the letter past couple of days here - haven't read it so dont' know exactly what the wording is, willc heck and provide update.

hi, my company uses the same thing.

whenever i needed to provide or verify such information, i have directly contacted our HR/Payroll dep't and explained to them that I need a letter, in writing - the number isn't going to cut it for me.

They were well aware of the situation, and happily got me what I needed.

The worknumber is great if you are standing at a bank and applying for a loan, or trying to buy a car and someone needs to verify your income.

For immigration purposes, it just doesn't seem to work for me.

i predict an onslaught of approvals by end of february.

someone is really busy at vsc touching everyone.

i am guessing that the touch is nothing more than an indication on vsc's part that they have gotten our files.

i too was touched today.

....maybe they can ask everyone to look the other way when they are washing their hands if they're so persistent about the matter.

They couldn't pay me enough! This thing keeps getting weirder and weirder, too. Some people have apparently received email saying they were not only transfered to VSC, but transfered for an interview. People with NOA1s a month or two after yours and mine, too. So if they looked at these files enough to determine who warrants an interview, why didn't they just go ahead and approve the others?

I have no idea what's going on. It wouldn't surprise me if I were approved this Monday, or in August.

all i remember is the last time i got an application transferred - back with the i130, from texas to california, it took me two weeks to get an approval.

I got transferred, too. Looks like we all have.

I think it SUCKS OUT LOUD!!! The actual approval times from VSC have been very steady -- about six months, regardless of what the official processing times show. That means we have to wait until August???

Unless of course they put us at the top of the pile. Hell, that's precisely what they should do, given that right now they are approving people who sent their I-751s to VSC in early August 2007. We were ahead of all of those suckers.

James - are your stats on VSC approvals based on VJ? The USCIS website shows they are working on March 2007...

I have a feeling that the USCIS has a defined threshold of back-log - for example 6 months, 9 months - something to that affect. It might even vary by processing center derived from their available resources. So for example - TSC should be 6 months backlogged, whereas VSC can be 4 months backlogged. If one service center exceeds their backlog for x number of months, while another hasn't reached their threshold, it spills over.

Thus, we see a series of transfers from TSC to VSC.

In my analysis this simply means that VSC has the capacity to take on enough load thus that they would be 2-3 months more backlogged than they are now....in the end meaning we will get approved faster their than in TSC.

..Or maybe I've giving the gov't too much credit for planning their operations. ;-)

..and now i can't tell if that is a good thing or a bad thing.

i start wondering about our application status, get one vj to find out what the heck is going on - and last night got an email stating that i had been transferred to vermont.

so james - if you could update your timeline to reflect that on 1/31/2008 i was transferred to vsc, thanks!

another question - for those of you that did contact your senator, and are in texas - who did you contact? cornyn or hutchinson?

did you do it online, or email - i saw some sites had the ability to correspond online.......

this really sucks. i hate the inefficiencies of our gov't - especially after the fees we pay the uscis....

so looking at james's list - this is what i can trend - no one that applied in 03/07 and beyond has been approved. the few approvals we have date back to 01/07 and 02/07.

also, of the 6 approvals - 3 invovled senators.

so based on those loose facts - the best way to improve your chances of approval are:

1 - have had applied prior to 03/07

2 - get a senator involved

....now whats this i hear about transfers to vsc? a rumor, or fact?
