I don't know what all this debate is about. The issue isn't Muslims or Christians or whatever. The issue I have is with the radical, fundamental, intolerant fringes of either of these religious groups (and they both have them). I have friends that are Muslims, I have friends that are all colors of Christian and I have friends that aren't religious at all. I don't have a problem with any of them. They're all nice people. Why would or should I care whether they worship a God and if they do, which God they worship. Since religion is a private matter between a person and God (my friends know that this is how I feel about the subject), it's simply not my business and they won't try to make it such.
I completely agree with you Mr Big...I am christian and my husband is muslim and we have perfect harmony and acceptance and respect for each others faith...there are fanatics in every religion...i find it hilarious that people call theirselves christian on one hand and spew hate about others...i know many muslims who are the most kind thoughtful loving people i have ever met and i know alot of so called good christian people who go to church on sunday to pray for forgiveness for the stupid things they did on friday and saturday...there is good and bad in all of us...i am really disgusted by this whole thread...this site is for multi-cultural spouses to share experiences and visa issues...not to put down someone else's choice of religion....if you don't want to help other couples and just want to spew hate then perhaps you should find another site.....

Thanks so much for your help...i didn't realize how many things contained pork..and while he knows i could never give up BACONNNNNN...lol... i respect his wishes that he not eat pork...wow, do i have a big job of making sure i check all the food i buy nowMy husband is very interested in the different types of dishes i cook and is eager to try new things...i am curious about the deal with gelatin tho...i assume some types of gelatin are made from (pork?)...could anyone give me some info regarding this so i can be prepared when he gets to the US?....I believe most gelatin in this country is made from pork (because it's cheaper than other kinds). It IS possible to find it made of other animals, fish, or even plants, but you have to look around. Those types are usually labeled "kosher" and/or "halal". Most products with gelatin don't say where the gelatin came from, though, so it's safest to avoid it since it's likely from pig. Oh, and I think that some products with the "K" symbol might still contain gelatin made from pork - it's only certain other kosher symbols that guarantee no link to pig.
I'm not trying to claim any extensive knowledge about Islam (or any other religion), so don't take anything I say about that as fact. However, everyone decides how closely they want to follow (or not) their religion and/or how they want to interpret the 'rules' and/or whose interpretation they want to follow. For example - some feels it's ok to take medications with gelatin; some will only if an alternative is not available; some won't take them at all.
That being said, I recommend talking it over with your SO to find out how he feels about it. If he does not want to eat anything that could possibly contain/be from a pig, then only use a product containing gelatin if it is DEFINITELY NOT from a pig (I found marshmallows that listed "fish gelatin" on the label). Ask someone who knows more than I do if there are ways to know about certain products.
Also, I have heard that some people get more strict or less strict after they get here. I'm sure there are even some who change their habits more than once. Kind of follow his lead. I think it's wonderful that you're supportive of him!
I hope he appreciates your efforts. Best of luck to both of you! I hope he gets here soon.

According to my math - your $45-$47k annual income would be enough to qualify for a household size of 8 (less if Hawaii or Alaska). So unless your household is larger than that, you should be fine.
By household, im assuming people who are dependent on me right? If that's the case it would be just my wife. I do live with my family (Mom, Grandma) of course but they all have their respecting jobs and support their own.
yes, if you don't have them listed as dependents on your taxes you don't count them

:blink:i never thought of it that way before...
...i find it hilarious how people put all americans in the same category...(quote)However, I would say that America, as a whole, is very judgmental... and pushy. For a country built on freedom and the right to happiness, they are very interested in telling you what they think your happiness should be and how you should acquire it(quote).....when it seems to me they are doing the very same thing....
...i see nothing wrong with age difference...it's the heart that matters not the age....my husband is 15 yrs younger but i don't go around bragging that i have a younger spouse...that's not why i fell in love with him or the main focus of our marriage...if you have evidence that the relationship is real then i don't think there would be a problem....
I really am not telling anyone how they should behave and I'm unsure where you got that impression. But, in that quote, I am talking about the typical T.V. American. The general feeling you get from TV, Radio, strangers, about how your life should be. That is what I was trying to adress. As far as the "typical American". I don't even think there is one. Every one is unique, we do have a similar culture, but when the lights are out, doors are locked and we lay in our bed with eyes closed, we all have different ideas of what the world should be like.
sadly, your words are very true though...quite a few are judgemental...i have had a few shocked looks when questioned about my husbands age...it seems women being the older spouse is more frowned upon here but i could care les...lol
The really funny part is that women usually live longer than men. You're just being practical!
Um...not really. MUCH more practical is the 19 year old woman that marries the 79 year old man and collects Social Security for like 50 years after he dies, instead of both making it to the finish line at the same time.
In all seriousness, the man being younger in many Muslim countries (including Morroco) IS a red flag and you need to be very careful to document your relationship well. Men being older is common in many cultures and not seen as a red flag (Ukrainian woemn tend to marry Ukrainian men that are considerably older, they are more stable and better fathers and providers...plus if they aren't alcoholic by age 40 they probably never will be) PLUs we are oh-so-better LOVERS (Oh Yeah!
) so it is not seen as unusual for a Ukrainian woman to be engaged to man 10-15 years older as to their way of thinking it is "ideal". For a muslim man to be engaged to an older woman is quite unusual in their culture.
No judgement here, just saying. Best to be well prepared
yes, we have all sorts of evidence...the best one being (i think) is an email i sent to Casa when they refused his tourist visa when i needed surgery back in June...lol....(at the time, i wasn't aware that since he was an intending immigrant they would not give him one)..i pretty much explained how cruel they were to deny him being here for my surgery and that i was offended that they allowed people here every day for pleasure trips while denying him one for something very important and asked them to explain to me why they denied him...haha...i was pretty upset at the time and stressed over the surgery and being alone for it...i speak to his family quite often through calls and emails as well so i told him last night i would forward the emails for him to take

We have a pending CR-1 visa application. Is it possible to apply for a tourist visa while we wait? A lawyer tells me "no" that it might affect the case....
Another related question is --- what about special circumstances like a health condition? Would it be possible to apply for a tourist (or perhaps another type) visa while we have a pending CR-1 visa if my wife needs to have surgery in the US?
my husband and i had this same situation earlier this year before we were even approved for the I-130..the consulate told him they couldn't approve because he was still considered an intending immigrant...you could try to expedite your I-130 but it has to be an emergent situation..the only option we ended up having was for me to bring my laptop with me to surgery and my mother keeping my husband company online while they waited for my operation to be finished
The Muslims are coming!
