I hope it doesn't take a month so that I have to start the form over again.
You don't have to add any more info within the 30 days on the website, you just need to login to the account to reset the timer. Just login once a week to keep it active. Sometimes I've had to go in and re-write a field just to trigger it, so just re-write a name or something simple. -
6 hours ago, fores said:The officer called my name at 11 am. Then he asked me to provide my green card. he escorted me to his office and introduced me to another person that will be observing my interview beside him.The officer said he will be looking at the computer most of the time, and he will start with the civic questions;what is the land of law mean? what is the name of the national anthem? what ocean on the west? what happened on 09/11? how old you have to be to vote for the president?
In case anyone was interested, I actually got asked the exact same questions as fores (from another thread), plus "Why does the flag have 13 stripes." So I'd assume the offices are all working off the same sheet (my interviewer had a few pages to pick from and it looked well-used).

Passed my interview this morning. Got the first six questions right so those were all I was asked. They're short on attendees for the oath ceremony on Thursday so asked if I'd "volunteer" for that one instead of waiting a month. Um, yes. I would very much like to be done. So by Thursday I'll be a citizen.

I have a terrible memory so I started studying as soon as I applied. Maybe once a week or so, just reading through the questions to get used to them. My interview is on Tuesday so I've spent the last couple of weeks doing quizzes on one of the apps. At least give the questions a read through every now and then until you get an interview date.

Is Cincinnati so much faster than other field offices that you're looking at days rather than months for your notice?!

There have been a couple of people I've seen get their interview appointment scheduled very quickly through Cincy - copied from the June and April threads:

Though I'm not going to get my hopes up based on these. I know they are most likely outliers. But these are probably what SusieQQQ was referring to.

No interview notice yet. I'm not expecting that for at least another few months or more.

I applied on 10/17. Got an email on 10/20 saying they'd scheduled my biometrics. The letter with the date showed up a couple of days later - 11/6. So 3 weeks between application and fingerprints.

Just because some people get gender reassignment doesn't mean the error on your passport won't be a problem. I don't know why you would think that.
Here is the link that explains how to fix it. Yes it could be a problem if you try to travel and it isn't fixed.

It means what it says.
Did you apply online? If so, the website will give you an estimate of how long the rest of the process will take. You can also search under the timeline tab on here and look at your local filing office to see how long it took for other people. I'm going through Cincinnati - the USCIS site says it will take until next November, but other people on here have had their interview through Cincy in 3-4 months.
-
I got an email from USCIS on Saturday saying they'd scheduled my appointment. The letter showing the date didn't show up in the Documents tab online until this morning though.
-
Finally filed online last week, Oct 17th. Just got my biometrics appointment for Nov 6th (Cincinnati office). The online estimate was 13 months but I'm hoping it'll be much quicker than that. Wishful thinking.

My case status finally updated, but only after they ordered production of the card. The tracking number says my green card should be here tomorrow!
-
I got my approval letter today (yay!) and mine still says initial review.

The green card supersedes the work permit. He no longer needs the work permit now that he has the green card. You just need to renew the GC when the time comes.

Thanks for the info!
No proof of your income is required. It is all self reported. Same with the exchange rate. I will try to post a good summary of taxes soon, but going away for the weekend. Hopefully Rin&John will contribute because he knows all about getting itin numbers and spouses still abroad, which I don't.
Not sure this applies to me since I'm in the US and have a SSN.
-
So it's OK to work out how much I was paid in dollars using the exchange rate for the day I was paid? Do I need any proof or do they just take my word for it?

I'm trying to get my head around how me and my husband can sort filing jointly this year. I moved over in July of 2010. We married in August, and I got my greencard at the very start of 2011, so I wasn't considered an official resident until just over a week ago.
I understand we can send a statement claiming me as a resident alien for tax purposes, and I'll have to claim my UK income too. Can we go to somewhere like H&R Block or are we better off sorting it ourselves? Can they deal with cases like that?
Also, do I need to send any kind of proof of my UK income? I don't think I have any official forms and I only have a few online bank statements but not for every month. I was paid January to June, my last month of work before I left to move. I know how much I was paid for every month and I've gone back and checked the exchange rate for the dates I was paid and it comes to around $8970. Is that what I'd need to claim as my income? I'm really confused!

I received my AP and EAD last week, and just got an email saying my greencard is in production. My file was only transferred to CSC on the 1st of December. Excitement!
-
Just got another email saying my AP was approved that day after my EAD. I don't have any immediate travel plans at the minute but at least I know I can leave if I need to.
-
Got an email this morning that my work permit was mailed out on 29/12. Woo! Hopefully that'll turn up soon and I can finally start looking for work!
-
My husband and I noticed a lot of films and shows were marked as being unavailable after the 20th of December earlier this month. Most of them were still there afterwards so maybe it's just a case of renewing their license or such?

Thank you all for the advice about the SSN. I haven't told Julian I messed up on this
How did YOU mess it up? Why didn't Julian research it before he even moved? It's not just your responsibility to know and understand how the process works. I'm sure they would have said something if he didn't come up in the system. If you don't get the card, go back and check again. It's not the end of the world.
N-400 application while I-751 pending and "expired" conditional green card is lost!!

The guy sitting next to me at my oath ceremony yesterday had lost his green card. USCIS had given him a form to bring in place of the GC. I heard him mention that he'd reported it stolen/lost to USCIS, so I'd assume there's some way to notify them that it's missing.
