Congrats to all who are approve!!
I have a question guys , did you submit the original copies of the affidavit of your friends or family??
I am finalizing my packet and wondering about this. thanks.
Riza
Yes, I submitted the originals since those affidavits were made specifically for the I-751. I did make a copy for my own records.

Wow! Congrats everyone who got really fast approvals! I didn't know they would send e-mails so late at night, hehe. I always thought it was early on in the morning. Yay! Let's keep those approvals coming!
My email was sent at 6PM local time in California. But remember, they didn't really "send" the email. Since I created an account online to track my case, they may have updated my file which generated an automatic email to me. I guess they just decided to update as many people as they could today, since so many of us got the updates today.
What I think it happens is: if your file and documents are good enough, they probably just wait until you have your bio done, and once they get that updated, they approve. If for any reason they have to check something or look further into the documents you provided, then some people may take longer to get approvals. The officers probably wait for the bio done, then go look further into the process and documents, etc, until they approve it.
I will continue checking in here to see how you my fellow September filers are doing. VSC people, hang in there, the approvals will come!

OMG!!!! Guess what???
I am still in shock. I got an email saying "card production ordered"!!! 1 month and 2 days from the date they received my application!

GUESS WHAT I FOUND OUT THIS MORNING???
"On October 20, 2009, we ordered production of your new card. Please allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you. If we need something from you we will contact you. If you move before you receive the card, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283."
Wow! Oh wow!!
Just so everyone knows... If you signed up for mobile alert, the text message will only tell you that there was an update on your case. It's not going to tell you whether they sent you an RFE, interview letter or approval. So imagine how the excitment almost killed me when I received the infamous text message while I'm out of the house. Since I couldn't wait any longer, I have decided to buy a one day pass internet browsing on my phone just so I could see what kind of updates they did on my case. I almost jumped for joy when I found out that it was an approval. Yesterday was supposedly my scheduled Bio and I got approved today. I guess the early bio really, really helped speed up the process.
Thank goodness!!!
To all my fellow Sept. filers, I wish you all the best and quick approval.
--Mae
SO happy for you Mae!!! Another fast approval. And you are the proof that even without a NOA you can be approved fast! :-)

Maybe I am wrong, but don't your GC need to match your passport?
I mean, in order for your husband to change his name (or delete one of the names) I would think he first need to change it legally and then use the new one for immigration procedures.
I also have 2 last names, and on my card it shows my full name (with the 2 last names). But I use only one at professional level, when I travel within the US my tickets only show my first name and very last name, same with bank accounts, etc. So, I can say I only use one of my last names even though I still legally have 2 last names.
Sorry if this is confusing...

I guess I moved in the right time...
I used to live in NY until March 2009, and when I applied for AOS I submitted my application to VSC. It took only 3 months from the date I mailed to the date I was approved (interview). But it seems they do take longer for ROC.
We are now living in California, so I submitted my ROC to CSC. So far so good, things seems to be moving in a good pace. I guess they should have another service center to process ROC. Just 2 for the whole country is not enough...
-
Maybe that's the reason you didn't receive your card. For some reason someone may have "forgotten" to send you the letter for biometrics.
During biometrics, they will take your fingerprints (usually from all fingers) and a photo. When you enter the country, the fingerprints at the airport are just to access your immigration status, so the officer at the point of entry can see when you have entered and left US.
Wit the stamp on your passport, you can travel in and out of the country. But I would wait for biometrics first before you travel abroad.
Edit: since you were approved such a long time ago, you may be already eligible to apply for citizenship.

I also did my bio on Friday (10/16) and it shows an update today, so I guess a "touch".
Here we go September CSC filers!
Hoping that VSC gets on speed as well...
-
With the new layout, how can I tell if I have been 'touched'? I did a walk-in bio. on Saturday but don't know how / where to look for a 'touch' on the new page. Thanks!
For some reason I can't see where in the new page you find if you were "touched". Is it the "last updated" table headline? Or is there an specific place you can see "touches" ??
Figured it out with the help of a VJfriend. I thought they would keep a record of the dates they "touched" your case. But now I see that the Last Updated date is in fact the touch...

I did with yellow highlighter to make it easier for the person who is reviewing my file. I highlighted names, addresses and dates on bank statements, flight itineraries and other joint account documents, as well as some separate accounts that arrive on same address.

I was getting worried about our Bio appt, as people who filed after us were getting theirs. We got the Bio appt letter today.
I noticed my husband's middle name is mis-spelled on the Bio notice, (his name was spelled correctly on the NOA1), do they manually type these?? Should we report this anywhere? I dont understand how one notice is spelled one way, and the other is different.
Hi there,
When I did my biometrics last Friday, I was able to see the officer typing all my information (actually, checking) on the computer. When you arrive, you need to fill out a form with some basic information. Then, when I was called to have the biometrics taken, first thing the officer did was to type and check my information to see if anything changed (name, address, A#, etc). I guess you can ask the person to have it changed right away. I read carefully everything (she didn't ask, but I did) to make sure all my info was correct. Then she started taking the fingerprints.
So, I would just wait until your bio and mention it to the officer, and ask to have it corrected during biometrics.

Congratulations calitoday! That is amazing fast, what a great way to start the weekend! (I inserted your approval date in the list)
I did my early bio today in Santa Rosa (CA), no problem, very quick, in an out in 15 minutes.

Has anyone done early biometrics in Oklahoma City. I got a letter to re-take my fingerprints but I will be traveling for work and I do not find in this forum someone with early biometrics in that center. Any experience?
I am on the same-quasi situation. I also have a bio appt letter (but not a second one) that is coinciding with a trip I have to make. I hear it is case by case, sometimes they let you, sometimes they don't. I am not sure how long a drive it is for you to go to Oklahoma city for the appointment.
What I am doing tomorrow is to try to do a walk-in in Santa Rosa (about 1:30 hour driving no traffic), and I am also bringing a copy of my itinerary/ticket receipt to prove I won't be in the state on my scheduled appointment date. If they don't let me do the walk-in tomorrow, I will try again next week. If they don't allow me again for a second time, then I will submit a request to have the appointment date changed. At least that's my strategy.

I filed the I-864 for our most recent move, but I haven't filed the AR11 on either move. Should I send in the AR11 for our most recent move when I file the 751 or should I send in the AR11 for both moves or none of the above???
Thanks Again!
The sponsor (USC) who filed the I-864 has to file/mail the I-865 (I guess that's what you meant?). The green card holder (you in the case) has to file the AR-11. You can file the AR-11 online, and you should do soon for your most recent move. At this point, don't file the one for the previous move.
-
check cashed, yesterday! eac########## written on the check!
thought to update here!
Just so you guys know, the receipt number (WAC or EAC) is NOT the one you can check your status online. You need to wait until your BIO APPT LETTER. The number on the back of your check won't help you with anything. Wait until the bio appt comes, then you can check the status of your case using the case number they give in that letter.
-
I think this is one of those things they don't really enforce UNLESS the sponsor is purposely trying to hide. I hope so - I'm one of those who didn't realize I needed to send the I-865 until more than a year after we moved, while filing ROC. I just sent it a day before sending the ROC, and added a copy of the I-865 with a cover letter explaining that I didn't realize, and apologizing for the oversight. We had no problems, and his 10 year card should be here any day now!
Same thing here, I always reported when we changed address but I didn't know my husband had to report as well until I found VJ and saw a topic about it. I talked to a lawyer and he said usually it is not a problem, but that we should submit his I-865 asap. Only the most recent (we moved twice since I got the green card). The lawyer said that usually it is a problem when the green card holder is receiving government/federal benefits (something like that).
So, file the I-865 asap. And file it separately. As the lawyer told us, the person who is reviewing your I-751 does not deal with change of address requests.

Not a red flag, they have the option to put you through special processing at the airport. I have never heard of a spouse travelling with family who has been given a hard time though.
A little bit of the discussion of living abroad, but they gave me a hard time at the airport when I was arriving back from vacation WITH my husband and when I arrived alone after a short work trip. I never had any secondary inspection ( the "special room") when I was a tourist on B2 visa, or when I was a student on F1. But after I got my green card, every single time I entered I was sent to secondary inspection. In one of them my husband went ballistic with the officers, we were waiting for over 2 hours! Anyway, they claim it could be an error (such as missing document) or my name is a match on the terror list. Come on! My name is not that common, and it was never a match when I was a B2 or F1. Their system is just messed up!
So, yes, even if you travel with your spouse you can still be given a hard time at the airport. THey never denied me entry, "just" let us waiting for over 2 hours, handled back my passport and green card without any explanation and said 'you can go'.
-
even better, you had a pumpkin pie to celebrate it!
-
For your information. I was not able to post this under my user name. Josie recieved this letter and is totally unprepared. I/we do not keep any records for three years! except tax returns. I also belive I have read to much into it.
May I ask which documents/evidence you sent with your application? It will be helpful for other VJers. Sometimes people are called for interview if they don't submit enough documents. And I wonder if you did submit enough evidence and was called as a "lottery" or USCIS thinks it is lacking some documents.
As others have said, if you are indeed truly married and is still a couple, you shouldn't have any problems. Just try to gather all information. Usually, bank accounts have statements available online. For older statements, you need to request them (online) and they become available for your viewing a couple of days later. You can always go to your bank and ask for a letter from the manager stating when you opened your account, who are the authorized users, etc.
I don't think you need statements and receipts for every single month. That's why I asked what you have ALREADY submitted to them. BUt it would be good to have 3 statements per year.
Good luck.
-
I'm a little concerned today, tho - they've still not cashed my check and no NOA. They signed for this packet last Thursday a.m.; what's up?
My check took more than 1 week (from the date they received) to be cashed...
-
I paid $8 at CVS and I got 4 photos.

If I leave the US before my green card expires with no intention to maintain my PR status, what do I do with the green card (as in, the physical card itself) ?
Must I inform USCIS? Must I return the card, or simply destroy it maybe?
It just seems to me like a bad idea to up and leave and not tell anybody. I realize they'll know that I left anyway, but if/when I come back to reapply for permanent residence somewhere down the line, I don't want any trouble then.
For the record, I'm married to a US citizen but we're moving to my country and my 2-year green card will expire this January.
In my opinion, you should inform once you have already left and your card expired. When are you moving and when does the card expire? Remember, if you are abroad and for some emergency you need to come to US (while the card is valid) you can still use it.
What I think you should do is: once the card expires and you are abroad, you should send a letter to USCIS informing you did not submit a I-751 because you are out of the country and will be for few years. Therefore, you would no longer be considered a permanent resident. I think you should state in your letter that you have destroyed the green card. (I don't recommend sending it back, it could get lost in the mail, etc).
Anyway, that's what I would do. Maybe you should call USCIS and ask a representative what is the appropriate procedure.
-
Probably not a bad practice since many 'immigration' sites don't keep as close an eye on these types of things like we on VJ do...[/i] [/color]
OMB (Office of Management and Budget) number/date have nothing to do with the form's expiration date (bottom right of forms show version/expiration date).
Thanks! good to know
Experiences With Early Biometrics / Walk-Ins
in Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussion
Posted · Edited by NycBra
I had to do an early bio because I will be traveling to Chicago during the scheduled date. I decided to first try a walk-in in Santa Rosa, CA (about a 1hr30min drive each way for me) and if it didn't work I would send the request to change the date (which could also coincide with one of the other 3 work trips I have to make by December).
Anyway, I brought a copy of my itineraries/flights in case they gave me a hard time for going for an early walk-in. I arrived in Santa Rosa support center around 1PM and there was only one person ahead of me waiting. The officer was really kind and let me do the early bios without questions. I guess because they were not so busy. But in any case, I had the itinerary printed out so he could see I couldn't make to my original schedule date.
