  1. Congrats Hunniraine :)

Thank you to everyone who has congratulated us :).

My husband gave me a general run down of what happened. Basically the common theme of waiting was there and the generic questions of who is the petitioner and where do I live. The first interviewer threw in some trickery of trying to convince my husband that I have a sister instead of a brother (the CO did the same thing). The first interviewer was hounding my husband about why my family wasn't present at the wedding. Both the first interviewer and the CO were shaking their heads as they looked over the documents and evidence of our marriage (which my husband offered to the first person and was accepted) but the CO never asked to see anything. After all of the scoffing and head shaking my husband figured he was doomed but as you all know, that wasn't the case.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining about the treatment he received. I know that it is a good thing to be scrutinized a bit. I think I am more proud of my husband who was a giant ball of nerves and not actively in the process the whole time (I did all of the paperwork) yet he pulled this off. :star:

Ok, I'm going to be quiet now :)

Good luck to the upcoming interviews :)

    CONGRATULATIONS on your approval

  2. Thanks!

We were living together in the Ivory Coast but because of the situation, I had to leave the country. The US Embassy is currently closed in the Ivory Coast and they are not sure when they will open for visa services. I am about 5 1/2 months pregnant with our first child, so we decided that I go back to the States while things calm down in the Ivory Coast. I was just offered a job here in California, and I would be making enough to sponsor my husband alone even with the baby. However, does it matter that I will not have tax returns for this new job? How wouldl I be able to prove that I make enough? Would it help with time, if they knew that we lived together for the last 6 months, however we have been together for 3 years?

But if the embassy is still closed how does he go for interviews? would he have to go to another country for that interview?

Sorry for all the questions, we just weren't planning to take this route.

    Thanks

You can ask your employer to give a letter on the company letter head that you are employed there, how long you have worked there, your annual income, and you possition there. You can also provide paystubs as well. Proof of relationship is great to have. Keep all phone, chat, letters rental receipts, plane tickets and other expenses you may have together. I suggest that you go to your local Immigration office and ask about the embassy in Ivory Coast before you file. You can schedule an appointment with an Immigration officer by info pass at https://infopass.uscis.gov/info_en.php

Good luck, I hope this helps.

  5. Overall the experience was good. The appointment was at 1 pm and was done by 3:30 pm. Everything went smoothly without any problems. The consulate asked my husband if he spoke English and he said a little bit. The next question he asked was when is the last time you spoke with your wife and he told him 4 hours ago. He then asked where will you live in the US and my husband said the city and state. The next question was what did you do for work in Greece and my husband told him. The last question he asked was if he has any pictures of the house in the US and my husband said yes in the photo albums. The embassy was not too busy and everyone was very nice. star_smile.gif

  6. Good luck to everyone tomorrow with the interviews I will keep you in my prayers. GO JANUARY INTERVIEWS kicking.gif
