Hey Tab, welcome back
Leave from VJ! Completely understood Have a nice time with your hubby
Did your hubby get SSN and GC?
Loto
Hi, Loto
My hubby did not get his SSN or GC yet we visited our local Social Security Office one week ago and was told that it can take up to 4 weeks to get the Social Security card. We are visiting the Social Security Office next Monday if we do not receive it by then, they can issue a number for him at that time. No GC yet either and no welcome letter... But my hubby is here so I am happy

I started loving your new avatar, Indigo Do you have any plans to promote any new stuff (If you carefully look at it, it has a virgin holding a wine glass!) in this new avatar?
So, how's weather in your area, IS? I think you are in Atlanta, right?
Loto
IS I like the new avatar as well. Loto that is hillarious

Tab, due to the snow, checked in luggage collection took almost 1.5 hours, but this was in parallel with immigration timing. Otherwise, it should have done under an hour.
Also, ask him to complete customs declaration form in the flight itself.
10 siblings - no wonder - that's why his stress
Loto
-
It will be tight, Tab.
Ask him to get out the plane and be in the immigration line immediately.
POE has 2 parts - first by the regular officer and then in the secondary room. My wife's process in JFK was completed in 10 min. It took more time to collect the checked in luggages.
How much time needed to report at the gate for domestic? Isn't it 30 min or less?
But it should be fine, I think.
Loto
I think so too Loto
On my last trip to China, on the return trip at LAX, it took me 2 hours from the time I got off the plane to get up to the boarding gate of my next flight. My connecting flight was with Delta, what a mess. Maybe Chicago is more organized.
I hope Chicago is organized as well I know that thay tram that takes passangers from one terminal to another so that will help as well.
-
Most domestic flights are at least 10/20 minutes late. So he's going to end up with 3 or so hours to do POE stuff. Plus he knows English. He won't get lost. If he misses the flight, the can take the next one. One you get started on POE, it's over in 30 minutes. It's just the line. That's the bad part. Especially if multiple international flights land at the same time. But he'll be fine.
Thanks IS that what I told him as well...I think he is just nervous about meeting my whole family I have 10 siblings
-
Congratulations to both of you and happy reunion in US soon God Bless you both.
-
Congratulations BigJohn have a safe trip to US and wish you a happy and long life together. Be blessed!

My husband is freaking out about his POE in Chicago...he feels that the two and a half hours in Chicago is not enough time to go through customs and still make it to his next flight ...does anyone know if the two and a half hours are enough? I believe that there is enough time

Hi Guys,
Firstly let me apologize for having not been on this forum for a while. Am still in India and having a good time here.
My wife had her interview yesterday at the Chennai Consulate and her visa was approved.
Her interview was at 8:00 AM. We reached the consulate at 6:30 AM and was called in at around 7:40 AM and she was given a token.
She went in and waited for around an hour for her interview with the Indian ICO.
She was called by the Indian ICO around 8:45 AM and she was asked if she needed a translator. She said yes. I had asked her
to get a translator as I wanted to make sure the accent wasn't an issue.
He asked her for the documents she had and she gave him the phone logs, tax documents and our travel/stay together in India. He skimmed through the phone logs and gave it back to her. He said the travel docs are not required and gave it back to her. He specifically looked at the tax document for 2009 and he removed the w2 and other papers from the file which was given to him. He also asked her if she had her album but did not ask to see it. He asked took the medical reports but asked her to remove the X-ray from it. She opened the cover, removed the x-ray and gave him the other medical records.
The Indian ICO asked her the following questions,
1) what is your full name ?
2) Who does you husband work for and what does he work as ?
3) Where is he right now ? Is he in India or US ? when did he come to India ?
4) What is his DOB ?
5) How do you know him ?
6) Where do you live now ?
7) Do you have your birth certificate & marriage certificates ? She said they should be with him as it was already
submitted.
8) Did you fill the form (Ds-230 form) yourself ? she said yes. He asked her why would you need a translator if you can fill the form yourself. She said she was capable of reading and filling the form herself but she wanted a translator as she was not very fluent in english and he was ok with the answer.
He asked her to sign the DS-230 part 2 and asked her to wait.
She had her finger prints taken in another 15 minutes and waited for about 45 minutes for the American ICO to call her.
She took the oath with the American ICO and the following questions were asked by the American ICO,
1) What is your full name ?
2) When did you get married ?
3) How do you know your husband ?
4) Did you get married on your own accord or otherwise ?
5) Where did the marriage happen ?
6) Asked for the album and asked her to show the "Solemnizing" pictures. He looked at the pics smiled and said his birthday
was the same as our wedding day.
He said Congratulations, Your visa has been approved and gave her the original birth certificate and marriage certificate back. He also took the right thumb finger print again.
She was out by 10:20 AM.
Congratulations on your Approval  wonderful news Have a safe trip back to US and I wish you a long and happy life together.

12 days honeymoon where there is no TV, Radio etc. So, I presume there is no telephone and internet as well
So, it will be 24x7 honeymoon Nice, nice, nice - mountain view in a dense forest where there is no noise except cricket's and bird's chirps, fox's howl-like crying and frog's chorus! Let the light breeze pat the leaves and give you soothing pleasure
Just kidding, Tab
Loto
My idea honeymoon/vacation with the wife would be being stranded on a tropical island for exactly 3 weeks and 17 hours. Because that's how long I can live on booby breasts. No more.
/Les Stroud
I like your idea as well...
-
Tab,
Little one adjusted on the same day of the arrival.
We both adjusted after 2 weeks, this week is good, no more runny nose
Glad to hear you will be re-united with your hubby in 2 days  Another honey moon!?
Loto
I am so happy to hear it Loto I am glad you all are feeling better. Family is awesome.
Yes another honeymoon for 12 days we are going to the cabin on Government Camp Oregon. Nice place on the mountain, quiet with plenty of time to catch up...no TV or radio... hahaha. My kind of getaway

Okay wife got VISA delivered by 2GO today at 1030am.
Bad part is that she is now at doctors because she has been feeling ill all day. Looks like she has the mumps by what I see from swelling of face.
Hope she will be better by the time we fly, Looks like no celebrating receiving visa today.
Congratulations on your approval and sorry to hear about the mumps not fun...

It's over folks. The wife is approved. It was short and sweet. Don't know the details but will post review once. But she was only asked my name and the wedding date. They didn't ask for anything else. My wife was the first one interviewed today.

VISA APPROVE!!!!
Wife called around 12.30am and gave me the good news. They didnt ask anything at all. Just standard questions:
Who is filing for you?
Where does your husband work?
Whats his job title?
WHen did you last see you husband?
How come you had a late reception (almost 9 months later)?
Showed them the pictures of the reception.
How come your in-laws didnt come to marriage?
Who from you in-laws side came to the wedding?
What are you doing currently?
Then the lady said: Congratulations. Your visa has been issued and you will get your passport in the mail.
The pre-screener and the CO asked the same questions. She had to wait 2 hours in between and then she got out in less than 10 mins.
Thank you all for the help and prayers.
Congratulations Johndoe12 finally...you can now look for a plane ticket and forward to your lives together I wish you all the blessings.
Good Luck to the next 3 on the list for tomorrow
