You shouldn't have any problems (every trip was nerve wracking though because they don't need an iron clad reason to say no) I carried the NOA and return plane tickets (never had to show the NOA)and only had packed what I needed no over packing. I went back and forth for 6 months through Pembina crossing. I'm so glad that is over though :)If you do get denied at some point it doesn't affect your application at all, you just be honest in the interview and tell them CBP denied you because they thought .fill in blank.

October filer here as well, although my situation is a wee bit different I have EAD and SSN but as you can see from my time line no biometrics appointment letter for AOS
Personally I would call but I know from experience that they tell you they will email you within 30 days with an answer that doesn't make any sense LOL but you will get a biometrics app letter with in 2 weeks
I wouldn't go to a walk-in appointment without an appointment letter but that is just me.

I didn't know the K3 visa was out? I got mine last year because I wanted to get down here faster than I-130 could get me here. I traveled back and forth without hassle. I found that the only thing they ever asked me was when I was returning and did I have the ticket already. Yes K3 is more expensive in the long run but it did get me here faster and if I wanted to I could have been able to apply for employment prior to Adjusting status. As I did but much later on
We did K3 because we wanted to be together faster but yes it is more expensive.
Brandi (see timeline for info)
K3 visa 6mon EAD 3mon total 9month process
CR1 depends really could be 5-10months? Just to live together? You're choice unless the K3 doesn't exist anymore?

Local police station is perfectly fine. takes anywhere from 3-6 weeks to get to you unless you go rural. Going Rural you can get it the same day LOL in the city it can take a long time. You should be fine to apply for it now I would think
I applied in Winnipeg got told 4-6 weeks then drove to Selkirk (20 mins north) and got it the same day. Be aware that you usually can't get it done in a rural community unless you have a 'connection' there.

That's exactly what I did. I called 12 doctors in the Denver metro and none of them would do it. It was ridiculously frustrating! Nobody knew what I was talking about, and nobody wanted to listed. I got comments ranging from "a foreign medical is not valid for AOS" to "There is no such thing as a K-1 visa" I even got a quote from one doctor who wanted to redo my medical and charge $850.00.
Wow we are in Denver and the first person I called did it for $10

The instructions say that checks are to be made out to United States Citizen and Immigration Serves OR US Department of Homeland Security. They will probably just stamp over it anyway
Should be ok

Sorry!! Ugh uscis sure earns the name useless

Yes we had to register both maiden and married names on our mailbox. Most inconvenient but it must be done in some areas, not all but I would do it to be on the safe side. USPS sent back my biometrics appointment notification for my EAD (that is why it took so long) my maiden name was not registered on our box but some mail did slip through, just not the MOST important stuff!

yes before Nov 23, it is $1010

Pay close attention to the RFE wording though. In our case we did go to a civil surgeon, get all vaccines up to date, turned in the I-693 vaccination history all checked "complete" when we originally filed the AOS and we still got an RFE because they misplaced the overseas medical. Our RFE specifically said that the vaccination history was received, it was the REST of the medical they were missing. So don't assume anything.
You have a VERY good point there
I sure hope this isn't the case!!

This may be it. It's actually my husband who is the Canadian, so I am not sure what shots he had and when for his MMR. I would have thought this was taken care of through the K-1 Visa process. Did you do a fiance Visa first?
I came in on K3 which does the same medical as K1 - I also did it in Toronto. Because Canada doesn't require a 'new' MMR shot they will mark it complete or incomplete not age appropriate columns. Either way it appears some, not all people get asked for the I-693...
If that is the case ALL you need to do is go to a civil surgeon with the Vaccine copy from Canada and they will tell you if he needs it...You can do this before you receive letter but don't pay ANYTHING until you are sure that is what he needs:) If it is he will need to pay for MMR shot from anywhere get a piece of paper that says he now has it then go to a civil surgeon and then pay for transcribing of the vaccination report. We paid $10 in Denver and I got my shot for free but I hear they are about $60-85.
Hope that helps

Looking at your timeline information, I bet it is an RFE for I-693 medical form.. Assuming you are Canadian like me...you will probably need a second MMR shot (USA wants a current shot not just the one we had at 5 to go to school. Yes it is dumb but that is my guess. Sorry!!

NOA1 will come in the mail, Biometrics appointment letter is typically the next step. Sit back and enjoy the wait
National Benefits Center= code for the place that they will process your GC. MSC (Missouri Service centre is mine as noted by the 3 letters at the beginning of receipt number.

You will only need a copy of the birth certificate for the application I-485. Make sure it is the long version.

I've read other places that you don't need the SSN to get married only to get the marriage licence (Colorado you don't need it at all). That being said I just applied for my SSN and they gave me a receipt and said I"ll receive it within 2 weeks.

should be there at noon today...again. here's hoping for a better result. the form I-485 was the one out of date. Thought I'd let everyone know
-
ok we found out what the problem was...Application was mailed back to us saying we had an out of date form..I checked all the dates and they were current so I'll be checking them again on Monday and mailing Monday evening again!! Sigh!
Good news though I have my EAD in hand!

We still have nothing
We mailed to the Courier address though

Brandi

Curious...What mailing address did you use? USPS or the courier one?

Cheques not cashed, no email, no text, no nothing except saying it was received on Oct. 4 signed for by J.C.

Ok, just wanted to make sure we weren't in the lost box LOL...yeah cheques not cashed here either. ARGH!
RFE
in Adjustment of Status (Green Card) from K1 and K3 Family Based Visas

I could be wrong here (I'm certain Vanessa&Tony will correct me
) but that shouldn't stop the EAD from processing, reasoning being that you can apply for EAD first, before AoS. Fulfill the requirements of the RFE by submitting a letter from the source of these payments (ie. cheque stub, letter from SS and inheritance provider stipulating the amount and duration that sponsor will receive money)
