Just curious - it doesn't concern you that he's had so many relationships with American women? And then his response in the other thread about never getting tired of trying to get to the U.S. That would freak me out to be honest.

Some irreligious are atheists, some are not. I am an atheist, and my (Egyptian) husband has absolutely no problems with this. In the end I do not believe there will be any judgement for this.. or well anything, because I do not believe in god. My husband appreciates my perspective.

I am very happily irreligious, no need to be offended for *us* . She didn't call your wife irreligious.

Can't you get married at the justice of the peace? It's non religious and legal. Why would you want to complicate matters by having to travel to the nearest Egyptian embassy? You can register the marriage with Egypt at a later date.

She said on the first page they had both agreed to not get married by their respective faiths' officiants. What's condescending is telling other people what issues they should or shouldn't have, religiously, because your family was cool with what you did. You are not her. your family is not hers. Another family's objections to that kind of a wedding ceremony does not inevitably mean they have issues with her marrying a Muslim in the first place either, it could be a myriad other issues or reasons!

Can we please change the name of P&R? The amount of active threads that get moved to OT for "not being religious or political" is getting silly.

Guns have actually killed more people than anything in the history of this country - including all of this nation's wars COMBINED. And guns have done that in just 4 short decades. And you mean to tell me we need more guns? Really?

I think it's more stupid than sexist or hilarious.
Though I guess, if she were a man, they'd never write "no wonder his wife's afraid!!" ... so, I guess so.

Stop clutching your pearls. It's not a racist phrase, and I doubt val intended it that way, given her posting history. It comes from the Greek, and the first instance of the phrase was in a 16th century translation of Erasmus, predating the first recorded instance of the word "spade" as a pejorative term for an African or African-American by almost 400 years.

    okay..
anyway. if the words "get another one" had been used by a filipina in regards to an american man, your opinion would be different.
also, serious question: how could i keep my ex from providing for his son financially?

Imagine that, gun owners who are willing to have a rational discussion without crying that someone might take away their guns.

Wow.... But be careful about walking too early. That can be bad on the bones and cause bowed legs. Our son started at 10 months on his own.
