I am new to this and need a little assistance please. This site recommended to me by my ex husband who used it and swears by it.

After 7 months online, I went to Ghana to meet my fiance and we married while I was there. Now I am back in the US and need to start the K3 process. I read over the I-130 forms and they want affidavits or proof that we are married such as joint checking or joint tenancy but we don't have any of that, for we were only married for 1 day before I had to leave to come back home. I have a copy of my marriage certificate - will this be enough? Also I am having difficulty having my name changed because SSN & DMV do not recognize a forgein marriage certificate.

Soon after our marriage I tried to have my name changed as well. I was told the same information. I contacted an attorney to find out what my options were to bring my husband over and I mentioned the name change. She stated that I didn't need to change my name at this time and that it wouldn't be an issue. I still haven't changed my name and am processing my documents under maiden name. We are planning to marry here in AZ once my husband arrives and at that time I will change my name.

Thank you for your post - I have received some great help from a lady on this site who has been a great encouragment & God-send for me. I just mailed off my I-130 today and I have already changed my name - this is think is a great thing for I am taking on my husband's name. This also helps me feel a little closer to him as I adjust to the new name! I wonder about marrying a 2nd time? Can you do that here in the states?
