I believe i have everything that needs to prove that i have ongoing relationship with my fiance but we lost the receipt for the hotel during her visit to Ghana will that be a problem ?
Did you sign a register book? You could possibly contact the hotel and see if they would write you another receipt, but you are probably ok...just all the more proof the better....

I just checked on the USCIS website and our application is approved!!!!! Finally!!! Now the ball starts roll!
Well Done! Happy Days - Congratulations.

I'm just wondering how most the people on here met their lovers initially...over the internet or in person? I ask because I wonder the number of couples the consulate deals with that met over the internet as oppossed to meeting in person initially. I met mine on a dating site and then we met in person. It makes me wonder at times if the consulate sees couples that meet online at first as more of a red flag than not. I don't see why they would, granted that I'd expect most of them met online.
Yep - Met my love through someone I met online.

Hello, everyone i've been waiting for my wife's interview at the Ghana Embassy ,and the people at the visa center are impossible my case was completed since 07/31/09 i've went to address my issues with my congressman but all i got from them is a case load amount and not an actual date, since this process has began we have had a child and i've managed to get his U S Citizenship and ss#,has anyone else been waiting for an cr1/ir1 appointment for an interview.
I'm sorry, I am a little confused here - you say you are the husband here in the US waiting for your wife's interview in Ghana? You already have her SSN? Whose citizenship are you talking about?
I have been watching the timelines and it is a VERY long wait in Ghana for an interview. Daily prayer and a ton of patience is what I am learning about now. (God grant me patience and do it NOW!) James & Wanda were waiting for a long time.... I think earlier this year during the Presidential elections in Jan/Feb, all cases were held up causing a huge backlong in Que.
Not sure why....

You only needed to send the 2 photos (the other 2 is brought to the medical)... As far as the birth certificate, you will probably receive an RFE to send that... Sorry
Thank you - I asked him again today if he had it & he does, it is just an inconvenience, and extra $50 and a slight delay. Communication sometimes a little tricky somedays....
-
I have just prepared & sent off the IV package to the NVC after receiving all the docs I asked my husband for. The police Certificate, the birth certificate (or certified copy), and copy of his passport page... etc. WHen I received the package I added the Cert. Copy of our marriage Certificate and added 2 2x2 photos and sent it off. After reviewing some VJ information, and looking over the copies, I realized that I may have sent a copy of his Certified copy of his birth certificate for it did not have any seals or imprinted stamps on it.... Is this going to be a problem? Also I think I was supposed to send 4 2x2 photos..... Will these generate an RFE and then I can forward this on?
Thanks in advance for any advice....

It is the $400 I find very confusing - there is no $400 fee of which I am aware, and generally, unless you have paid the necessary fee up front and in full they don't process the paperwork. Are you going through a lawyer and this is the lawyer telling you about the $400? All of the forms submitted together would cost $1010 (AOS and biometrics) plus $355 (I-130). You have to do the immigration medical before hand but that fee is paid separately to the Civil Surgeon.
Yes, green cards can be approved without an interview and the length of your marriage plus having several children together speak to the validity of your marriage. It is quite possible that you are approved without an interview. Did you go for a biometrics appointment? That would occur before any interview or any approval. Any interview would be done here in the US at your local USCIS office, though. Definitely DO NOT leave the US until you get a green card. If you do, you will incur an automatic 10 year ban and would have to start the visa process all over again with you outside of the US and then when it was denied, file a waiver - you definitely DON'T want to go that route.
Hmm - you applied in 2007? I wonder if they are charging you for the increase in AOS fees since you submitted the application? They shouldn't do that if they have had the application since 2007 - they should process it at the old rate, but that is the only situation I can see that might fit this scenario.
Also, did you talk to someone at the 1-800 number? That is also called the Misinformation line. They people who answer the phone are call center employees, not immigration officials - unless the call was forwarded upward to an Immigration Official the information itself is suspect. Did the person say an interview at the Embassy? Did she use the word visa? Neither are involved in this process so that may be another reason for the confusion.
One last thing - the online status update showing it at the Document Production or Oath Ceremony status is a good thing.
(the $400 fee is what the NVC is charging for IV fee)

I am stuck and need help please! I am reading the list of required documents for the DS-230 and am wondering what & why I need to send my marriage certificate when it is already included in the packet and also why do I need my previous marriage certificate when I am now divorced but it does not ask for my divorce decrees?
Petitioner Documents
Applicants in the following visa categories are required to provide 1) an original or certified copy of their Petitioner’s birth certificate and 2) original or certified copy of their Petitioner’s marriage certificate from the Petitioner’s current and all previous marriages.
ok then it asks for:
Parent of a U.S. Citizen who is at least 21 years old (IR-5) What does this mean?
Brothers and sisters of United States citizens (F4) What does this mean and I do not see the forms. What do they want?
Please help I am weary.
Thanks,

That is the one thing that I found true first hand when I went Ghana. We had to pay "I can help you" money for our already paid for wedding pictures.
My husband paid over $100 for his police report and that was mostly "I can help you" money...
That is how things are at times.
We just had to do what we needed to do...my husband told me that was even the negotiated price.
...but thank God that we are now waiting for our interview date....

I had sent our Affidavit of support package on 10/19(signature confirmation) and the last activity shown on USPS.com is 10/20 1:48 AM (left chicago, on its way to destination). There are no tracking updates after that which makes me really nervous. I talked to USPS supervisor at the drop off location and she tracked my # and had a big ? in her face and asked me to check back tomorrow. Typically my experience with USPS until this time has been really satisfying, and they tend to update USPS.com periodically with each and every events. It has never taken more that 3 days.
I hope they haven't misplaced my package. Should I send another set? I don't want to confuse NVC with multiple copies, had they already received it. I am lost!
What do I do?

Oh don't worry!! The same happened to me & USPS sent me a letter indicating they have fixed the problem ... just add a "94" to the confirmation number

Hello my VJ friends - I just received the Paid form for the IV fee, but now am confused... do we need to send all the birth ceritficates and police certs and all the rest of the papers now or just the DS-230 to NVC? Why do they need MY original cert copy of my birth certificate? Will I get that back? It is my only copy and it is extremely hard to come by for I was adopted. Also can you point me to where the list is here on VJ.com so I can make sure we have everything in order? Thanks everyone in advance - you always come through for me.....

Hello all my VJ friends! Ok, Paid the $70 fee online Sat. And I already have his signed DS-3032 AOS which he emailed to me, but does the NVC need the original signature for this form? I realize I can't send it until NVC receives my Payment and marks it Paid, then I can Overnight it - is this correct? Then he starts working on the Immigrant application form next ..right? If it has to be original signature I should have him send both forms to me at the same time - ??? Thanks for the feedback and direction.
Dina
There are 2 streets for the NVC process... One is for the petitioner and one is for the benificerary
The petitioner 1. pays the AOS fee bill, then 2. mails the AOS package to NVC
The Benificerary; 1. mails or E-MAILS the 3032 (can be e-mailed, just see the guides or the instructions on the 3032 NVC sent) 2. Once the 3032 is received and processed, the IV fee bill needs to be paid, 2. once the IV shows paid on the website, you can mail the 230 paciage with part I signed with original signature and Part II left unsigned to sign at embassy.
Once all the documents are received at NVC and processed, both streets merge and you get a case complete!
So you can sent the AOS package once the bill is paid... and wait for the 3032 to be accepted (but e-mail that ASAP)...
Best luck!
Thank you so much!!!
The DS3032 does not need to be sent after payment. It can be sent at the same time or prior to payment. They also do not need the original signature on the Choice of Agent. You can email it to them.
Thank you!!!

It takes 2-3 weeks nowadays for your file to get to nvc
1. You can call them at 6033340700 and select the option to speak to an operator, give him/her your uscis case number and they will tell you whether they have your case or not
2. Your husband can mail his DS3032 to them and select you (the USC?) as his agent of choice, in that case he will need to send the DS230 and accompanying docs to you to send them off
3. You send the 864 to NVC, you send this off before you send off the DS230 i beleive
i'm still a rookie, especially in relation the last two questions
but this is the understanding i have gained from reading through several threads
post #396 summarises the process beautifully : http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...t&p=3311106
2-3 weeks? I just called NVC to see if they finally have a case number for us..still nothing, though..good grief! we got the approval notice on August 5, and it's obviously been more than a freakin MONTH! What ticks me off is what the operator told me.." it takes 2-3 weeks for your papers to get to NVC, sometimes as long as 90 days. I suggest you wait till the 90 days-period is up." BTW, hubby filed on April...the long wait is soooo absurd, I just wanna bang my head on the wall till I get our case numbers (mine & our daughter's). Is this normal?
Oh I'm sorry - please take a deep breath and give it to God! I do not know why it takes longer then others.... mine came from California
Where did your come from?

Hello all - I received my NOA2 approved and now waiting for the next step. As far as I can see I should have been received at the NVC by now? (approved 9/10) But I was never notified by email on the USCIS and I only found out from a letter they sent in the regular USPS mail.
1. How can I find out if NVC has our paperwork from USCIS?
2. I plan on sending my husband the D-3032 & the D203 forms to fill out & then do I have him send them back to me?
3. If I have to compelte the I-864 do I send those to him as well or to the NVC? Sorry, this can get a little confusing.
So glad to see so many APPROVED! Posts - gives me hope!
God Bless & Thanks,
Dina
our approval was 9/8 we dont have our case number yet..i called NVC twice a day but they keep on telling me that they dont have my receipt number yet...wait 2-4 week...gossshhh.... hope and pray that our case number will be in our way sooner... as of now we starting to gather all document.... dont worry,,, lets wait....
Come on girlie, get the NVC case number, so we can get you thru NVC!!!! Im sooooo happy for you on your NOA 2!!!
Told you it would be okay!!!
Got it!!! Called the NVC this morning and after 2 attempts was able to get through & the Operator gave me my case # - YIPPEE!!! but ok, now what? I gave her our email addresses and she said that the forms will come through and we can start there. The D3032 can be scanned and sent to them electronically? I guess my question from the advice is... Do I wait for them (NVC) on everything? Now that I have my case number and they have email addresses....it is just waiting game? Thanks for your support
