Good morning everyone
I travelled to London yesterday for my medical.
I took the train to Victoria station and then the 73 bus to Bond Street. From there it was a 5 minute walk to the Knightsbridge Doctors Clinic. I arrived one hour early but they allowed me in to wait.
At the reception window they took my medical questions sheet, passport and passport photograph.
After waiting for about 10 minutes I was handed another sheet to complete. It was similar to the questions sheet with a few more extra questions. However there was nothing that was difficult to answer.
I completed the sheet and after 5 minutes I was taken into a side room and explained what vaccinations I needed. It changes for age and country but mine were:
MMR (Measels Mumps and Rubella)
Tetanus
Flu
The cost of the three was £80.
After the injections I waited anothe 10 minutes before a chest x-ray. Again another short wait before the medical examination itself. The doctor was great, very friendly and thorough.
The examination lasted about 10 or 15 minutes.
At the end I paid at the reception window and was on my way home. The whole thing took about 90 minutes.
The doctor said that there were no problems which was a huge relief.
I did stop off at the US Embassy just to familiarise myself with the queueing system. There were two queues, one for US citizens and the other for visa applicants. There were around 60 people in both queues which were moving quite quickly.
I did chat with a Police Officer who advised me to be there 30 minutes early and also showed me the best parking spaces.

70 year old medical insrance.
Ouch, that is going to cost.
Yep it sure is... For my parents it is $1,200.00 per month or $14,400.00 per year or $72,000.00 for the next 5 years (After 5 years they can become Citizens and will then qualify for State Subsidized health care) These amounts do not include any annual increases so you could add about 10% extra for each year..
That is not too bad, but there are deuctibles, limits, exclusions etc. So Say $100,000 for 5 years in premium.
Do you mind me asking who with?
There is no deductibles or limits and the only exclusions are Non-Medical treatments, all pre-existing conditions are coved. They do have a co-pay of $25 for office visits and specialists.
They are with Neighborhood Health Plan in MA. It has to be purchased through the Mass Health Conector, but remember it is compulsory to health insurance here in MA so the state have approved plans that individuals can purchase for a simmilar price as employment groups.

No not available outside MA.... but it could be if the Public Option is included in the Health Reform...

If she is going to do child care for you (basically for room and board), that is "work", so you could put child care.
My wife has retired as a Nursery Teacher and that is what she put. I have heard of many VJ parents who have gone to the USA to retire as LPR without any problem at all.
That is why you fill out the I-864 to prove that you can support the immigrant benificiary.

Unsure about this one. When flying to the States for the first time as a LPR do we have to fill out the APIS?
I seem to remember being told that this is unneccesary for a new immigrant.
Any suggestions anyone?

If I am correct, for the first time coming in, you go to the immigration folks with your packet, you dont need that little form everyone else fills out. I believe thats all you do for your first entry here. Yours is special for the first time. For the next time you DO fill it out as a actual resident.
Thanks for your reply but I am referring to the online declararion one has to make through the airline website rather than the green temporary visa waiver form one fills out on board prior to landing.
Now to add confusion. I am told there is something called ESTA as well.
Any inspiration will help please!

After case complete the next thing we heard from the NVC was an email with our interview details. The NVC AVR system has not been update to reflect the interview. It still has the case complete date. (I just checked!)

I called NVC this morning. My was case completed yesterday, Oct. 30th. Waiting fro the interview...

thank you for taking time to reply. yes she was charged but the case was dismiss. that's why when she got her police certificate it says "no criminal record on file" this is the reason why i am so confused

You said 'NBI people asked her to have a Municipal Trial Court to clear her name and she got one'.
Was there any letter or document after the Trail Court confirming all of that? If so perhaps you could submit with the Police Check. From what you said then you would have to confirm that she was indeed charged.
Can anyone else help ikyang on this one?
Should they call and ask the NVC directly?

I received my interview date email from NVC! for Dec 1, 2009!
Domi22, there are 2 types of RFE:
FALSE RFE - if NVC claims it is missing entire document and you just sent it less then a week ago
REAL RFE - if it was more then a week since you mailed your packet and NVC emails you a request for a specific document like birth certificate etc.

My IV Bill ($400) is showed up this morning but as far as I know I cannot pay before I received email from NVC right?
Technically you could pay right now - but sometimes if you pay before the fee bill comes in the email, it causes some confusion in the system. You should get the email today or tomorrow.
We paid every bill the moment it showed up as available. We did not suffer any setbacks as a result of that.

Thanks, mooninlove. so there is nothing i can do but wait now. one more question, how long it will take to get to NVC, and how would i know, do they send a mail or email. and after i got the case number, do i call NVC to provide to them my email?
i received RFE on oct.6 to USCIS, and USCIS sent me the approval notices on oct. 27th.
updating my parents cases. i just got approval emails from uscis for both of my parents I130. it also said the approval notices was mailed it to me on OCT 27th. very happy.please help me, what should i do next.
congratulations!! you have to wait till it gets to NVC then provide to them your email or your parents email to receive notifications and payment of fees..Btw, when you receive RFE, does NVC sends email notices too?

Many congratulations on your USCIS approval.
You can now call the NVC automated service on 603 334 0700.
Just follow the prompts and enter your USCIS case number.
The automated service will probably say 'We have no record of your case number'.
BUT when your NVC number has been assigned it will tell you what that number is.
It may well be a week or two before the message changes but at least it gives you something to do while you are waiting!

Spoke to an operator and she said the scheduling for this month is done, and I will have to wait until the second week of next month to be scheduled for an interview in December

NVC usually issues interview dates during the first 2weeks of each month. So the next lot of interview dates will be given out next week. I have seen a few people who have got their interview date issued to them in the last week of the month but for most people it is the first 2 weeks of each month.
Hang in there.. it will be coming soon..

As such your interview will be allocated during the first two weeks of November for interviews taking place in December 2009.
That is the most concrete piece of news I have had for months.

Richard that is the same thing that I was told for my Parents back at the end of May, "no interviews left for June but you will get one for July" ... I had the email with the interview date 4 days later...
