Good morning Everyone.  The USCIS website tells me that my fingerprint appointment has been mailed.  Is there any other way of getting the date or do we simply have to wait for the letter to arrive?  Just trying to book time off work. Roughly how long does the letter take?

N-400 received in Dallas. Now patiently waiting....

I had forgotten what this was like!

Couple of questions though. 

Is there any advantage to either paying by check or Credit Card? 

Is USPS the best way to sent documents or is FedEx/UPS etc any better?

We sent in all the paperwork and according to the automated phone hot line my moms case was approved on Feb 25th. We have yet to hear anything on the interview date. The interview will be in Sarajevo BiH. Should I be worried or does it take a few weeks to hear about an interview date? Also am I correct in assuming that the interview is the next step?

Congratulations! It will take a few weeks to be scheduled an interview date. Ours took two weeks but it does vary.

The next step will be hearing the interview date and then booking Mom's medical.

It will go very quickly now!

you can apply as soon as you can.You should have said yes in ds230 about the question if you want to apply ss.Cause they would have taken care of it and you will just be waiting for the ss card in the mail

We ticked the 'send SSN' box on the DS230.

We received both Greencard and SSN within two weeks, and that included Christmas!

The SSN came first and the Greencard a couple of days later.

At the POE in Orlando the Immigration Official gave us quite a speech on how to apply for an SSN but I knew we had ticked the box!

That's my problem too! I am even worse, Aos fee bill and IV fee bill are hanging on !!! I have just checked the website and they are still "IN PROCESS"...

I have to disagree about paying the IV Bill.

We and many others paid the IV Bill the moment it showed on the NVC Website. Some of us did not even receive and IV Bill by email or hardcopy.

Paying it immediately gave us no delay whatsoever. The only delays we incurred were processing of the DS3032 caused by a backlog of emails and clearance of the DS230 cause by missing documents.

All the people who paid their IV Bills quickly did not suffer as a result.

If the NVC website shows that you can pay your bill then obviously it is ok to pay it! Their system to send out emails and hardcopies really needs some attention.

People may disagree with this but from my and others experience - it does not cause delays!!!

I just got off the phone with NVC and they said that the website will be back up and running from noon today.

No matter how prepared you are there is always the unexpected.

Hopefully this will be the only hurdle for everyone!

I know - I want to send off the DS-230 packet and this website is the only thing holding me up.

Yes I did. We used a pencil so it can be erased if necessary. I know some people put a sticker on the back with the number and barcode but we were low tech!

It is just a 'just in case' thing to do. We imagined the documents getting mixed up and with so many names, family names etc we wanted to make sure our documents were trackable.

When you get as far as submitting the DS230 after a long long wait you tend to get a bit paranoid!

Looks right but I am still thinking why do they need the Citizen's marriage certificate while the citizen's pouse has nothing to do with this?

Don't forget to tick the send my SSN box.

Nimche, we had to provide the marriage cert and copy of spouses passport as this was asked of us when we went to interview. This was due to my daughters husband being co-sponsor.

This also cost us a two week delay.

It's been a while since I have last been on this site and it's always been a great source of information and help. Me and my wife have been married for over five years and more than enough time has passed for her to apply for citizenship. My question is if anyone knows how long this process from start to finish is?

I believe it is 5 years as an LPR although if you are married to a US Citizen then it is 3 years.

My daughter completed the process in 7 months.

What do your kids do....

I just called and got mine today. You have to use the automated service to obtain the case number and then when you get that you have to call back and speak to a real person and register the email addresses with the case number.

For the automated system

Press #2, then #1 for English , then #1. You will need your NOA receipt #. Follow the rest of the instructions.

When you call to register your email address you will need to know the NVC case number, the petitioner's date of birth and full name and then the petitioner's full name and date of birth.
