  1. Hello everyone,

I am getting ready to purchase my wife's ticket for Continental Airlines. I'm curious if anyone had their first time POE in Guam and if there are any problems going through here. Any feedback would be great, thanks! :)

If you search here, there are some positive reviews on going through Guam. It's one of the easiest entry points. My fiancee will be going through there soon as well.

  2. Naty is flying from Manila to Fort Lauderdale via Guam, Honolulu, Texas, then here. She has a layover in Houston. Do they have calling cards there in the terminal? I do not have a land line so she cannot call me collect. Those cards can be a real pain to use. Any Ideas?

My plan, if she travels alone, is to add a second line to my cell phone plan and ship the phone to her to begin using from Hawaii forward. I also use a phone service where she can call me from anyone's phone at my cost. Feel free to pm me for details.

  3. Cut myself off on that last reply. Again, congrats to all the filers who have had their paperwork approved. Like I said, I'm not one of them. My NOA1 date is 03/02/09. I'm starting to get a little concerned. The paperwork has only been "touched" once, on 03/05/09. Is that normal? Should I continue to be patient or consider calling the USCIS customer service line to find out the status. Any help or advice would be appreciated. Thanks so much.

Unortunately it is normal. Nothing since 3/12 myself.

  4. Approx dates of travel and length of stay, number of pax?

December 17 to January 4 for 2 passengers preferably Korean Air with 1 stop in Incheon airport.

PM me if interested in a very good travel agent handling Korean Air and the Philippines.

  5. Hi, I had my roaming sim here in US. I bring my old cell phone in my last travel from the Philippines last June. I activated my Smart roaming sim card an hour before we boarded . When I arrived here in U.S-MI last (June 18). I don`t know why it is not working. I don`t even got any signal from my phone, my roaming sim has 300 load last June. Now, I can`t even open it because it is already drained .I am quite nervous to use my charger here because it is my charger in the phil. and my husband said my charger can`t be use here. All my friends cell phone number was stored in that sim and can`t even open it so now I lost contact from them. I am quite frustrated about it.I don`t know maybe the model of my handset is not applicable for roaming sim. I am hoping I can still use that phone here and got my friends number in my sim but I guess can`t do it.

So, check also your phone and place here in U.S. if it is reachable by that roaming sim. I hope you can activate your roaming when you get here in U.S. Thanks and God bless!

You have to allow more than 1 hour before leaving to activate roaming. You may want to try activating from the Smart website. Not sure if that will work now that you are already out of country and if you are now below 100P load. As long as your charger says 100-240V and 50/60Hz, you can use it in the US.

  6. hello,me and my fiancee applied for k1 visa, were just waiting for the schedule of the interview, but my fiancee was bothered about the proof of evidence that we have to submit,i mean we got a lot of emails since we started as a couple, she has card from the flower i sent her,she has money transfer receipts from western and we got photos together, she was worried about if she needs to show some photos or proof like a photo of me with her parents and her brothers,do we really need that, because i dont have the chance to meet her parents when i visit her,but i met her brothers, but we dont have the chance to took pictures,do we need it?i mean her parents know about our relationship,i just dont have the chance to meet them,my fiancee is 24 so i think we doesnt need it as a proof,i mean i love to meet her parents.

I don't think you have anything to worry about, but personally I would not marry any girl without meeting her parents first. I made that mistake once and will not repeat it. Just take that as some friendly advice to find a way to meet them your next trip.

  7. hi there! i just want to ask if we could bring and used either GLOBE/SMART sim and activated it as a roaming sim? if we already in the US? any idea?

I got a Smart SIM on ebay. Works fine for me for over a year now, and I just activate/deactivate roaming as I travel in and out of the Philippines.

  8. Try Korean Air and Continental for late night flights out of Manila. I know Korean Air flies late night out of Cebu (but not sure about Manila schedules) and Continental flies late night out of Manila.

  9. What's the fastest way to send money to the Philippines without costing an expensive service charge? Any idea's? Can I fed ex to the hotel or her home some money form? just an idea... can i go to my usa bank and have it wired to a phil bank?

I travel internationally for business all over the world... I find the best way to get cash,, Is the use of ATMs.

For my wife, I set up an extra checking accouint (in my name) with ETrade bank.

Just use a bank that doesn't kill you on ATM fees and exchange rates.

With ETrade I get the international bank to bank rate and no fees.

I just transfer the money online into her account from mine. She can get the money in 2 minutes.

Note: I put the ATM card in between a couple of pieces of thin card board and wrote on the outside, Pictures please don't bend.

Just to make sure it arrived...

    Regards,

I agree....the easiest, cheapest, and fastet way (in the future) is to give her an atm card. Banks like Citibank and HSBC allow for easy withdrawals in the Philippines.

  10. I know this is a little late.............but we filed our paperwork in March 2009 and received our NOA1 on March 3rd. Like everyone else I'm hoping and praying that we hear something very soon. We're real close to the 100 day mark and it looks like the average wait has been around 100 to 120 days. I sure hope I'm right. Good luck to everybody in their Visa Journey.

Welcome to another Georgia boy. So where is your fiancee from? Mine is in Cebu. Hoping for NOA 2 in the next 2-3 weeks!

  11. Whoa.....lot's of chit-chat here. My eyes are really tired. Just joined up and moving most of you to the right but............well, 6 months is short based on my past experiences dealing with the USCIS.

Whoa yourself and welcome! What do you mean "past experience" Just curious.

A previous application that took about 3 years and USCIS and lawyers messing up everywhere possible. It's a lot fast than it used to be!
