  1. I specifically asked them if our case has been sent to London yet, and they said yes it has, in fact, today they did! So I was like "YES!!!!!!!!!!!!"

I was on Skype-video with Nigel when we got the news, so I was bouncing off the walls!! LOL. My next step is next week call the department of state, the (202)number is bouncing around here or there i'll have to find it again, but they tell you if the consulate has received it or not. There is also a tracking method here too, but I figure I'll give them 3-7 business days sooo, I'm very very pleased...THANK GOD ! lol. 30 freeking days!

I tried to schedule an interview last night, and the girl at the embassy asked if my fiancee had received the "letter" yet. I said that I didn't think so. Then she claimed that I wasn't even in the system and could schedule in another week if my fiancee had received the "letter". Today I called the Dept. of State only to find out my case has been in Manila and the letter was mailed on the 10th. I think the embassy was just blowing me off thinking I still need to get together all the paperwork from the "letter" before worrying about an interview. :ranting: I'm calling back tonight and demanding an appointment to be set.

  2. Well today is day 30 and we are officially out of AP, I called today and they said that they sent it to London!

Good luck you guys, give it 30 days ok? I'm sure you wont go more than that!!

That is good news. I've been out a week now, but I still can't schedule an interview. I won't feel comfortable with it until that happens.

  3. Just checked DHL...two packages were delivered to the US Embassy Manila this morning at 10:30 a.m. Goodness I hope our cases are one of them...am going to call the 1-909 number to see if our file is in the system already...hopefully I can schedule the interview then.

We got out NVC case # in the mail (though we already knew what it was a week ago when we called NVC).

After 29 days in AP, I hope ours is there too.

  4. On hold - projected wait time: 10 minutes

Could be worse, right? could be 1/2 hour :)

Indeed, there's that. And the estimate was quite accurate: I had been on the line for 10:17 when the call finally rang through to a person.

I gave in and called the NVC today. They say I am finally out of AP after 29 days! I will believe it when USEM has my case. I don't see any packages going to Manila on DHL's website. Hopefully we are almost through.

  5. Well.....my girl is doing her medical right now even though we are still at the NVC. Best to get something else out of the way with the luck we've had so far. Most of her friends have already scheduled their interviews and some even already passed them while we still wait.

Wait..you can do medical ahead of time? I thought you have to have the USEM approve you for that?

Ya, i know, very odd indeed, but well, more power to him! lol

Not odd at all and common in the Philippines. You just need a copy of the NOA2 and letter from the NVC with case number to show the guard. And it worked out just great because we are finally out of AP as of Sept. 8th.

  6. Well, my congressman's immigration caseworker just called. She talked to NVC, and they gave her the standard "could be 2 to 3 weeks" line.

I'll just keep calling twice a day so I know as soon as it goes out the door—and in the meantime, they can be as sick of me as I am of them and their retarded process.

It's a different person each time, so not sure how anyone can get sick of you. I'm down to twice a week calls now.....Tuesday/Friday. Even if approved in between, I know it will take a few more days to get there before I can set an interview date. Guess they've worn me down some.

  7. I hope this week is productive....thats all I have to say! As with doing the medical, there is no point till the consulate has the info for that person cause the doctor's going to send it to them and well, they wont have their info and wont know what to do with it!

Anyway, good luck all. Lisa, as with books, i like Nora Roberts, Danielle Steele kind of books, definately not the sappy romance stuff but also not gory mystery's either...i'm sorta picky....lol

It's common for filipinas to fail the skin test for TB, and the sputum test, if failed, can add many more weeks or months to the journey. Wanted to get one more thing out of the way, and we did. She just finished up day 2 with a clean bill of health.

  8. ok... well, this just in!!

A review of the computer system shows that the fiancée petition is pending at this time, going through the security clearance process and you are welcome to periodically check for status.

The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) is committed to adjudicating immigration benefits in a timely, efficient manner that ensures public safety and national security.

Toward the end of the adjudicative process, USCIS requires extensive background checks for every application or petition it adjudicates. While background checks for most applications or petitions are completed quickly, a small percentage of cases involve unresolved background check issues that result in adjudication delays.

Background checks involve more than just the initial submission of and response related to biographical information and fingerprints. When checks and/or a review of an administrative record reveals an issue potentially impacting an applicant's eligibility for the requested immigration benefit, further inquiry is needed. The inquiry may include an additional interview and/or the need to contact another agency for updates or more comprehensive information. If it is determined that an outside agency possesses relevant information about a case, USCIS requests such information for review. Upon gathering and assessing all available information, USCIS then adjudicates the application/petition as expeditiously as possible.

We have checked into your constituent's case and have been assured that USCIS is aware of your inquiry, and is monitoring progress related to it. However, unresolved issues in your constituent's case require thorough review before a decision can be rendered. Unfortunately, we cannot speculate as to when this review process will be completed.

We realize that your constituent may feel frustrated by delays related to his or her case. USCIS must weigh individual inconvenience against the broader concerns of public safety and national security.

We hope this information is helpful. If we may be of assistance in the future, please do not hesitate to contact this office.

hmmmmmmmmmmmm, what do it mean (think Gomer Pyle)

....and then they do it all again at the NVC level for an undertemined amount of time.

  9. I would suggest that you simply call and set an interview date. If something comes up in the medical St. Lukes will contact the embassy and reschedule for you.

Is there a reason that you have not scheduled your interview??

    Phil

Well......his fiancee has already had and passed her interview. However, you can't make an appointment when you are stuck in "additonal processing", but that's still no reason not to go ahead and get it out the way while waiting.

  10. Yeah....I've actually made money with some of my credit cards, and one of them will be flying me to the Philippines next time off of the airmiles.

I have never paid any interest at all though on any of them. ;)

  11. What are the best options on airfare to Cebu from the USA? I need to fly from the midwest. Any ideas? Thanks.

I am flying to Phils. this coming Sept. 5 and when i check the airfare from Florida to Cebu ( rountrip) it cost me $ 1700 so I tried to change my itinerary from Florida to Manila and it cost me only $ 936. so i just let my sister book me a flight from manila to cebu and it cost only 1,500 pesos so I save a lot .

    I used www.expedia.com

I've flown Korean Air twice. Online they will give you a price like that......$1700-1800. Through my travel agent I can get it for $1100-1200. Worth the extra over flying into Manila for me and losing a day each way.

  12. anyone in particular you're referring to for posting tagalog posts/replies? i agree with you that english should be used when posting but we are in filipino forum.. i think that's the reason why they have the regional forums so that those in the same region can gather together and share views whether in tagalog or english and visitors should deal with it..when you enter Philippines forum, you should expect that most of the posts (if not all) will be in our native language because it's"ours"..hey, not trying to be selfish here, hehehe..that's just my opinion for what its worth. btw, have you seen tagalog posts in other forum?

Native language.......and which one is that? It's funny to be in a room full of filipinos that can't understand each other. My girl hates to talk tagalog and would rather speak english I think. Rather than fight over tagalog and bisaya (and plenty of others), they should have just made english the national language with their fascination of "americans" anyway. :P

  13. Good Luck! :star:

thank you everyone for all your well wishes... i will update and share our/his experience once he's done with his medical. thank you again.

    Hi Else,

I messaged Keith a couple of times but no response. I am from Georgia and my fiancee lives in Cebu City. We hope to have the medical and interview in September as well. Message me if you would like her contact info. Best of luck!

  15. Hi everyone. Sorry I haven't posted anything for a while - been pretty crazy. I've started to add a comment or two, but I feel almost guilty since we got our NOA2 and so many others are waiting. Crazy to feel that way, I know. Nevertheless....

Just an update on us and how post-NOA2 has been so far. NVC got our paperwork last Monday and sent it to the embassy on Tuesday (8/18). I waited to call until 8/19 and it was already through. Calling NVC was painless except the number was busy a lot so it took a while to get through. Once connected, very fast and efficient. They gave me the Case Number assigned (see below) but I also got a copy in the mail from NVC on Saturday with that information.

I've tracked what I believe is our package from NVC using the link http://track.dhl-usa.com/TrackByRef.asp?nav=TrackByRef I entered "EXP 18 AUG 2009A" as the reference and chose dates to/from of 8/17 and 8/19. It's documented elsewhere on how to do this, but if you need any assistance, send me a PM and I'd be happy to assist. Anyway, it looks like the package is in Manila now, but hasn't been signed for at the embassy.

Amy has her medical tomorrow. For Manila, it's first-come, first-serve. So all she needed was the print of the NOA2 notification email and the Case Number assigned by NVC (not the EAC number from VSC), along with passport photos.

We hope everyone from March gets approved soonest. My sprinklers are on right now and my pom-poms are out. Hang in there and let me know if I can be of any help. And be ready - as others have said, things happen fast once this step is done.

My paperwork has been at the NVC since Aug 10th while I keep seeing how others are in and out in a couple of days. Seems like things there are just as screwed up as at the USCIS. Not sure what "additional processing" they could be doing all this time.
