  1. Fiancee finally received the packet from the Embassy today. One of the papers stated she need to bring was written permission from the non-custodial parent (not sure if it said non-custodial, but that is what it meant) that her son would be allowed to immigrate to the US with her. It did not specifically state her son's namel, but just in general, and that this paper be notorized.

Well, my fiancee does have a notorized paper signed by her son's father (who does not live in Russia, and is not Russian) stating that she is his mother, and that she has the right to decide on his health, education, and where he lives and what country. It does not specifically state the word "immigrate" but as I said, it does state that she can decide where he lives. It was signed and notorized. She has had this paper for several years.

So my question is this. Will this document be satisfactory? The father is NOT on speaking terms and would not sign anything else just to spite all of this, so there is no asking him for anything. I think since it states very clearly that she gives her permission to decide where her son lives, that this would be ok.

    Any thoughts?

  2. Fiancee finally received her packet today and there is a form in there asking if we met thru an Agency. Well, we did met thru a dating website called Elana's Models, but there was no money paid to them (other than me joining the website) to setup any meeting, or "finders" fee or anything. So just curious if others have had this experience and how they have answered this question. Just want to make sure that we answer it correctly.

  3. I can confirm that we are currently in Administrative processing after the inter view. The interview was on the 21st and we are still waiting for them to finish.

Wow... what is the wait after? Where you missing some documents?

I can confirm that we are currently in Administrative processing after the inter view. The interview was on the 21st and we are still waiting for them to finish.

Did you guys ever receive a packet in the mail?

  4. Is "Administrative Processing" done BEFORE or AFTER the interview in Moscow? The only thing I found was this:

An applicant's interview can be scheduled and an invitation packet can be mailed only upon completion of the administrative processing, which the Embassy is required to perform on visa cases. The procedure is obligatory and cannot be waived. It will probably take a few weeks for this to happen.

HOWEVER, I DID NOT FIND THIS ON THE Embassy website. I only found it on HERE, VJ forums.

Does anyone know for sure??

  5. When is her interview Kylejb?

    November 20.

You have PLENTY of time to get the Police Certificate. Just have her go ask for it asap, if she hasn't already. Even if it takes the extreme of a month to receive, you'll have it in plenty of time.

She is going this week. She has been at her dacha and is going back to Moscow on Wed. So she will be asking for it on Thursday or Friday.. so we should be ok.

I just hope that is enough time. All this long journey and stress, and don't want any delays. She (as I KNOW ALL OF YOU FEEL THE SAME) is my life and just want it to finally get thru all of this...

  6. I know I have asked this before, but just trying to get clarification. I have heard that it takes from 1 week to a month to get the police report from the MVD in Moscow. Does anyone know EXACTLY how long it takes? My fiancee has only lived 1 place in Moscow all her life. So it should not be difficult to get the report.

  7. Nervous...

Don't be. Follow the instructions, dot your i's and cross your t's, provide just enough evidence of a relationship without breaking your poor fiancee's back, and she'll be fine. You've already gone through the hard part, USCIS. If your relationship is real and you have all your paperwork in order, it's as good as done. :)

Thanks.. it is hard not to worry. She is 5000+ miles away and it is really out of my hands now. I mean we will have all the paperwork and everything lined up, so it should not be a problem, but you know what I mean.

  8. My fiancee's son is 3 years old and I was wondering if she needs to take him to the interview? I know what the website says, but he is only 3.

Doesn't matter. My future stepson is 2.

Also, what would they be asking him?

"Hi nice boy, do you want a sweet?"

Or maybe, "What do you think about the current state of relations between Russia and the USA?"

Should I email the embassy to verify if he needs to come?

    No, the instructions are clear.

He is listed on the petition, so he would be coming with her.

If the intent is for him to come over with her, they both go.

And don't forget he needs a separate medical examination and she has to pay for his application along with hers. Double the cost.

And don't forget to bring the original birth cert, a copy of it, and a translation of it. Plus, his passport if he is not listed in his mothers.

And the signed document from the father allowing him to go, if that applies.

    Thanks.

Why don't you fill in your timeline? :time:

I know this sounds dumb, but STUPIDSTITIONS... :)

  9. The website only says:

Copies and translations of each document into English are required. Translations must be notarized only when the original is in a language OTHER than Russian. (e.g. a translation from Ukrainian into English must be notarized, translation from Russian into English does not need to be notarized).

It does not even say anything about certification. Not saying that you are wrong, but just stating what it says.

  10. I am talking about the translation of documents for the interview purposes. The Embassy website just says they must be translated. It doesn't say there is anything that needs to be signed. My fiancee is VERY comfortable in speaking English. She is fluent in our language. So that is why I was wondering if she did the translation, would it be a problem. Can she just use a plain piece of paper and translate them line by line and then just sign at the bottom of the page?

  11. I had a queston about translations of the documents.

I know the website says that all documents must be translated into English. Not a problem as my fiancee is FLUENT in English. But it doesn't say if she can do so. So I wonder if this is a problem or does she have to have someone else do it? I know they do not have to be notorized as the original documents are in Russian.

She does not know of anyone that can translate. And if she can do it, that would save money.

    Thanks for any help.

  12. Hi everyone, I just wanted to run a something by everyone and see if I am correct. First of all is it just me or has the US Embassy in Moscow been slow to update the Interview Schedule page? Seems like it has been a couple of weeks since it was updated. Maybe it is just me?

Anyway, a few weeks ago I asked the US Embassy in Moscow to give me a status on my case, they sent me this:

    DATED 9/16/09

    Mr. Owens,

as of this date, the embassy has not received Ms. XXXXX immigrant visa case. The interview date the NVC scheduled is November 17, 2009. However, the beneficiary will not be invited for the interview until we receive the case. Once the case has been received by the embassy, Ms. XXXXXX will be notified by the Immigrant Visa Unit and invited for an interview.

    Sincerely,

    Public Liaison Unit

    Consular Section

    U. S. Embassy, Moscow

Now aside from spelling her name wrong in the email, it was pretty short and to the point, which is great. But, I wanted to know if NVC actually is who schedules the interviews?? If so then fine, I will take this date to heart and inform Tatiana, but I had been waiting on the posting to the website to confirm it. What do you all think? I am also considering just sending another email to confirm this one, hehe, to sort of see what they tell me this time.

    I know I am impatient, but I can't help it. :)

I know what you mean. I am in the same boat. I sent an email to them and they responded saying when the interview was, but they also said the packet was mailed to my fiancee. Well, as of last week, she had not received the packet yet. I believe the Embassy has received our K1 Application, from what I see from DHL, but I am not sure. I sent the Embassy another email asking them where the packet was, but they have not responded yet.

So they did not tell me it has not been recieved, only that the packet was mailed. I don't know why the website is so slow to update.

  13. My fiancee's son is 3 years old and I was wondering if she needs to take him to the interview? I know what the website says, but he is only 3. Also, what would they be asking him? Should I email the embassy to verify if he needs to come?

He is listed on the petition, so he would be coming with her.

    Thanks.
