  1. My Tonya and I were approved today!!!!! (I know that God has shined a light on us and did this for us. I am really beside myself and speechless. I know that he was/is involved in this whole process. I thank him. ) Tonya did have a "lady" and said she was very pleasant. Some of the questions that were asked were:

    1) Did she know I was married before?

    2) Did I give her a ring (yes, and she showed the ring)

    3) What did I do for a living?

    4) How many times have I been there? (Answer was 4)

    5) How did we communicate? (showed all the phone records, SKYPE calls. One thing that I did was purchase a re-fillable phone card that has the ability to print out the detailed records. So this showed that I call her about 4-5 times a day, everyday. I sent her the records for 8 months. It was about 50-60 pages, but worth it I think)

    6) How many times have we met (yes, this was asked 2 times, then Tonya showed the 30 pictures I sent to her, and again responded with 4)

    7) Why did she want to marry me?

    8) Where/How did we meet? - Online at Elana's

    9) Did she meet other men there?

    WELCOME TO THE UNITED STATES!!

On piece of insight I can say is that I know this might be hard for others, but tell your SO to try and be as calm as possible. I know it is hard because I know how hyper I am. Body Language says alot. I think they know you will be nervous, but being nervous and sure of your answers are different. I think that the people are trained to look for the difference. I don't feel the are out to get anyone.

Also, do NOT go light on the evidence. I think this is very important. If you were only able to be with your SO 1 time, then make sure you can show that you are talking everyday, emailing, SKYPING, whatever. Have a phone card that allows you to print out the CALL HISTORY. Something that is detailed that shows what number you dial and the times.

Be ready for the "PERSONAL" questions. Like, the one about why she wants to marry me...again, it is not so much what the answer is, but how the person reacts.

Well, everyone keep praying becasue we ACTUALLY don't have it in our hands yet (the visas) so you know how it could pop up and they want to review something.

Thanks to everyone that has helped us so far, and I hope this insight helps.

  2. Natasha is in Moscow and her interview is today! I am so excited and so nervous. It will be 11 pm here when she walks through the Embassy doors there. I am not sleeping tonight to say the least. The medical went well, she said "simple." She also said that "The hotel is nice and cute. I love my room. I have shower, toilet, a little TV a huge bed and I'm very happy with it. I'm on the 25th floor. I went on a 2 hour bus tour while waiting for the medical results. (she went to IOM) Today I went guess where? haha to the zoo of course!" It was the IZMAILOVO VEGA HOTEL if anyone is interested. Please pray for us for a quick and successful interview and issuing of her visa Thanks

    Frank

Ours is on the 20th as well. We will pray for you, please do the same for us. Update us on what questions were asked and just the overall process.

  3. I know I was reading somewhere, but can't find where, that the time that people should arrive for the interview is like 7:30am or 7:40am. I know I saw it somewhere, but I just can't find it. The Embassy website does not state this, or again, I can't find it.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Which consulate.... Since you posted this in RUB do you mean Moscow, Kiev or Warsaw

Sorry, I meant Moscow. I know it says OFFICALLY 8:00AM, but I thought I read somewhere that it was supposed to be earlier than that... just can't find it.

  4. I know I was reading somewhere, but can't find where, that the time that people should arrive for the interview is like 7:30am or 7:40am. I know I saw it somewhere, but I just can't find it. The Embassy website does not state this, or again, I can't find it.

  5. Continuing on the subject on cultural differences and some life facts:

    1. Russians wear wedding bands on the right hand,

    2. Flowers are given in odd numbers (even are for deceased),

    3. Russian women retire at 55, and men at 60; however, average man's life expectancy is 59.

    to be continued

Isn't the ring on the right hand only if you are Russian Orthodox? I know someone that lives in the states and both are American. They recently got married and his band is on his right hand. I asked if he was Russian or what and he said, no, that it is their religion, which is Orthodox. So, just wanting to know if it is the religion or a Russian thing.

  6. My fiancee had her and her son's medical at IOM today. Here is how it went:

Got up early. Drove to the PAY STATION to pay for the medical exam for her and her son. Once she made the payment, she was provided with the forms and the location of where the actual medical exam would take place. She was NOT given the location to take the exam until AFTER she paid for it. They accept either US dollars or Rubels.

She then traveled to the location for the exam. There was a queue, as she states it, and the wait was about 1 hr. Once inside the rooms, she was greeted by a female doctor. The doctor was very pleasant and explained the entire process to her. They drew blood, did chest xrays and general exam. This drawing of blood and xrays was only for her. Her son is only 3 so he only had a general exam. She was allowed to wait for the results and the doctor discussed the results with her and then put the results in the envelopes, which my fiancee was present for. The doctor then proceeded to discuss with her what the process would be once she was at the interview, and then also at POE. She was handed the SEALED envelopes and sent on her way.

Overall the experience was pleasant, other than it took about 5-6 hours to complete the entire process. So she was exhausted at the end.

Things to make sure you provide them at the exam:

2 photos of her, 2 photos of son

    Internal and External passports

    Receipt showing payment for exam

She had to KNOW which visa she was applying for, in our case, K1, and the case number

Any shot records for her and her son

    Hope this helps others.

  7. Interview in 15 days, "sit on plane" in 30 days.

My house is ready, the little one's room is ready, we all are ready.

I'm working OT (pays for more preschool!!!) and we talk every day.

Our typical conversation? "What's new?" "Ahh, Nothing. I Love You" 'I Love You too"

We are all talked out; everything is planned, all documents in hand. We look to begin our new happy life together.

The time will fly by folks. Her friend Evgenia "sits on plane" this Saturday, to Atlanta. Others will follow, we will follow, you will follow.

Hey! That sounds EXACTLY like my conversation with my gal! Same interview date, same plane flight! Hehehe...

Just trying to relax and let it happen now... (as I bite my figernails down to the nubs of my fingers)

  8. Has anyone had their medical already thru IOM or MOM or whatever it is now? I was curious as to what the process was. SO was told when she called to make an appointment that the appointment was to pay for the cost of the medical, then she could go get the exam. So she has an apointment for this. Just curious what others have experienced.

    Thanks..
