So you are saying we should not send copies of his green card or send 2 copies of his photos along?
-
Can anyone help me with any of the other questions? Do I need to send any other money for my son's biometric costs or app fees? Do I just include his photos and green card info along with the application? Is it ok to write UNKNOWN in the Date of Birth field for the previous wife birth date?
-
I don't have a copy of the Marriage Certificate to the previous wife. I only have a copy of the Marriage certificate to the new wife.

Ok, my wife and I have been married for 7 years. So she has been a Perm Resident since Dec 2009. We have moved a couple of times, but we have a home and all is great. We now want to go for citizenship. So I understand that we must fill in the N-400 application. So we also have a child (he is 11, he is my step son). So she needs to fill out section 11, and put his information there on the form. However, I am not sure how much money we are supposed to send. How much do we send for her, her bio fee, his bio fee, is there an application fee for him also? I also see that we are to make 2 color photos, but it doesn't say the size. I am thinking passport size photos, so we can have those done at Walgreens or CVS and make 2 copies of everything that we send in and keep the copies for ourselves. Are there any other forms besides the N-400 to fill out?
I was also married before. I see on the application in Section 10, it wants to know what was the date of birth of my previous spouse. I don't remember what that was and I am not on speaking terms with her. Can I just right unknown in that box?
Thank you for helping with the questions.

Ok, So I know the fee is $595, plus $85 dollars for bio. What I don't know is how do I include the fee for my stepson? Do we make a copy of his perm green card and send that in also?

Ok, my wife and her son (my stepson) have been Perm Residence for 4 years. We are getting ready to apply for Citizenship. Do we only have to fill out the N400 and then include his information on the form or do we need to fill out an N600 as well? Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you.

When you send in the application, it usually takes a few months to get the interview.
Just to clarify, you are talking about the N400 process of becoming a US Citizen, correct?
-
We have our 10 year GC, and my wife and son are able to apply for Citizenship. However, she was to travel back to her home country for a month or so in the summer. I didn't want to be in the process of trying to get everything completed and her interview come up while she was gone. So I was wondering how long is the process normally taking? We may just wait until she comes back to begin.
Thanks.

Thanks... I am trying not to be anxious. I was wrong on a few dates... the BIO was 5/2/2012. So a bit later than what I thought. The NOA was 4/4/2012. So I am not sure if that makes me an April instead of March...??????
-
Waiting is so hard to do... I am wondering now if they might have lost something. We got a letter saying they (USCIS) got the application on the 22nd of March. Had the BIO appt on the 11th of April, 2012. Website still says INITIAL REVIEW... sigh...
I sure hope no paper work or anything has been lost. We have not received anything in the mail since the letter stating about the bio appointment. I guess the letter about the BIO is the NOA1 letter? I have not looked at it in a while to see if it actually says NOA1 on it.
Although the WAC numbers did change. The first WAC number we have when I key it in on the website to check it, it tells me that nothing has been received. When I key in the other WAC number, (the one on the BIO appointment letter) it tells me INITIAL REVIEW.
-
Still waiting since March 22nd... sigh... Already had BIO. Have not received ANY RFE or anything... website says.. Still in review. I guess it says that until they issue a card?
-
Does the "6 month" turnaround for the removing of the conditions start when they California Service Center RECIEVES the paper work and you get the NOA or after the bio appoinment? We had our bio appointment in May. Thanks for any input.
-
Ok, I went to the website to check status, and it still says initial review. We have already had our bio metrics appointment back in April.
However, on the site, I saw this at the bottom of the page:
OMB control no. 1615-0080
Expiration date 6-30-2012
Not sure what that means... any thoughts?

What can be done depends totaly on your age. My husband retired at 62 which triggered SS benefits for myself and daughter which is his step daughter. These benefits are affected by her age ( 15 ) & remain in effect until she is 18.
See your SS office for more info or the web site where my husband found out about this.
Well, the person told me that he(k2) has to be adopted by me or something? I don't know. I will ask her to give me more details and find out.
Thanks for the quick replies.

I am a bit confused on something. I was told by another immigrant here that since I (USC) married my K1 wife and she has a son (K2) that we can draw some kind of assistance or Social Security for him since he is not my biological son?
Is this true?
-
Ok great. I planned on taking him with us to the appointment. Thanks everyone for the quick replies.

Ok, so we filed the i-751 petition for my wife (K1) and son (K2), at the SAMETIME, on the SAME FORM... including the bio fee for both. My wife and son got letters in the mail(the standard ACS notification letters). My wifes letter said they recieved the information and would be processing it accordingly... my son got a letter saying that he was included on the application of my wife... so far so good. I expected these and they seemed correct.
So now my wife just received a letter saying when her biometrics appointment was next month. The CASE # is different than the notification letter. Not sure why that is different. However, my son, did not receive a letter. He is only 6. Should he go to the same appointment? Maybe because we got the previous letter saying he was included on my wife's petition, then they are just assigning one appointment?
Everything was included in the packet. Both Green cards, passports, copies of SSN cards, 2 letters from friends, .. he was listed on the application.
Anyone have any thoughts or experienced the same thing?

I am a bit confused, and I am sure I am just missing something. We are about to file for the I-751, and I need to know the total cost. I would be filing for a K1 and a K2.
So is it a total cost of $505, plus $85 for biometrics x2, which would make the total cost $675.00?
Sorry if I am just missing it on the site. Thanks for any help.
-
Ok thanks for all the replies. The names do match what is on the passports. We didn't change the last name for this reason. Way to much to go thru for name changes. Besides, all the SSN and Driver License are already in her last name. So it was easier this way.
Ok, so it should be fine then. Thanks again for the replies.

My wife and son got their green cards without any issues. Now they have went back to Russia, her home country for a visit with family members. I will be going there in a month and then we all are coming back home together. Is there anything that we have to do to "use" the green card? Has anyone ever experienced any issues using it? (Sorry if I am using the wrong term of "using it").
Thanks.

Has anyone ever gotten their GC sooner than a travel document or work permit? If we get this before the others, then that is all we need, correct?
-
Thanks, I was thinking that is what that meant, but was not sure.
-
Ok, we got a 2 letters about a week or so ago saying when our biometrics appointment is for my wife/son. Great... no problem, we will attend that in 2 weeks.
But now we just got a letter saying:
To speed things up, we are transferring your file to California. What does that mean? Any thoughts?

I have a couple of quesitons about this form.
Part 3 Questions 9.
The question reads: I am sponsoring the following family members immigrating at the same time or within six months of the principal immigrant name in Part 2 above. DO NOT INCLUDE any relative listed on a seperate visa petition.
Here is my question. We are married and have a son. He is a K2 applicant. So I know to list him on the form, but so I check the box 9?
Part 5 Question 21
A. Enter the number from line 10 - so that would be 2.
Then it asks:
B. Yourself - so that would be 1
C. If you are currently married, enter "1" for your spouse - Do I put one there?
D. If you have dependent children, enter the number here - Do I put one there?
H. Add together lines and enter the number here. Household Size - So if I add ALL the lines, then it would be 5. However, we don't have 5 in the house. It is only 3 of us. So that is why I am confused.
Last quesiton, do I fill out this form for my son also? Or do I just make a copy of the one I did for my wife and attach it to the I-485 form that I filled out for my son?
Sorry if the questions were already covered. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
