  1. I just got yellow letter in the mail. I applied for citizenship in december 2012.

They're asking me if I applying based on marriage to provide marriage certificate, divorce decree, proof that my spouse is an USC. i already send them all this documents.

However i got married again USC after applying. Do they ask me because they find out or there a problem? I was planning to bring marriage certificate to interview anyway. dont know what to think. please advise.

  2. Hello All,

It's after a long time I am writing. I had my interview for Green Card and it was approved. It was a very easy interview with no questions. Also got Green Card stamp on my passport. It's 10 years card. The officer was very nice. He told me that I can apply for Citizenship in 5 years.

Previous to this I also had my medical and it was also very smooth.

I want to thank all of you and best wishes in your process.

    Thanks again.

deeplyhurted, congrats!!! Why they told you to apply in 5 years not in 3?

  3. Thank you Lost, Yahya and everyone here, the interview ran smoothly, it did not even take 10 minutes. I was sworn in first, then the officer asked me basic questions, e.g. my name, current address. Asked for a copy of my birth certificate, added it to my file. She said if I have a copy of my USC husband's birth certificate, I showed it to her, she looked at it but did not take it or asked for a copy. Then she said, "I believe, everything is in order, you should expect your GC in 2-3 weeks."

I truly believe that your prayers, advice and support helped me throughout this whole process, I can never thank you enough. I promise, I will never forget you and I will include all of you in my prayers.

If I could be of any help, please let me know.

Bubbles, i am so happy for you!!!!! Enjoy your life now!!!! :star:

  4. Wow .... so much has happened while I have been away. Congratulations to all the new approvals and Good Luck to those next in line.

As for the marriage question this is what the lawyer and the lady who interviewed me said....

If I stay married, I can file in 3 yrs. If I get a divorce I have to wait for 5 yrs.

So, if i divorced befor green card i need wait for 5 years? How it works?

  5. When my (then fiancee) arrived with her 3 kids (Jan 08) and we got married (Feb 08), there was NO requirement for a SSN in order to enroll the kids into school (Kindergarden, 3rd, and 9th grade) or to add them to my health plan (Aetna) at work. They asked for the information, but when I didn't have it they didn't push. You might want to go back and check if this is a REQUIREMENT or just optional information. I would be surprised if it was mandatory.

For tax purposes you will need ITIN number or SSN. Without this numbers you cannot claim them us dependent.

You will not have any problem with school and insurance after you get married.

    Decision

On December 15, 2009, we mailed you a notice that we had registered this customer's new permanent resident status. Please follow any instructions on the notice. Your new permanent resident card should be mailed within 60 days following this registration or after you complete any ADIT processing referred to in the welcome notice, whichever is later. If you move before receiving your card, please call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

During this step the formal decision (approved/denied) is written and the decision notice is mailed and/or emailed to the applicant/petitioner. You can use our current processing time to gauge when you can expect to receive a final decision.

Guys who got a green card -did you also received the same??

I didn't get anything like this but don't worry, you will get your green card in 2 weeks or sooner. :) If they stamp your passport you don't need to worry.
