I'm sorry for this issue. My middle name is hard to spell for Americans, too, so I skipped it in the passport application form. I filled out the form online and system showed it as not required one.

Well we have good news, his corrected passport came in the mail yesterday. No errors this time.

Thanks for your response Lenny&Sanna. My husband has never updated his status in Finland to married, and now that he recently became a U.S. citizen, and he is going to Finland next month, I was thinking he should probably update both of those status's while he is in Finland. He said he was just going to bring our marriage certificate and his naturalization certificate to Finland and show them those. But is that enough? A couple of you of mentioned needed an apostille. I am so confused about apostilles. I'm trying to research about it now. We live in California right now, but we were married in Oregon. So we have to get an apostille for our marriage certificate from Oregon right? (I realize we can do this by mail, but I am just double checking.) As for his naturalization certificate, we can get an apostille for it from USCIS? At least that is what I read on one website. I am starting to wonder if he will have to time to get these before he leaves for Finland on May 27.

My husband got his naturalization certificate back in the mail on Wednesday. But yesterday we just had to send it back with my husband's passport and had to fill out a form and send another passport photo, because they misspelled his middle name in his passport. Just hope it doesn't take longer then the normal processing times, because he is flying out of the country on May 27.

My husband had his oath ceremony last week and is now a U.S. citizen! He applied for his U.S. passport after his oath too. He will be flying to Finland during the end of May. Now, we know as a U.S. citizen, he has to show his U.S. Passport when he leaves and enters the U.S., but I was wondering about when he enters and leaves Finland, does he have to show his Finnish passport? He said he thinks it doesn't matter since his trip is only two weeks long, so he just wants to show his U.S. Passport when he enters Finland. Does any Finn here know how Finland feels about this? (Finnish citizens using a different country's passport to enter and leave Finland)

I wasn't sure if I was supposed to add myself to the bottom of the list, or put myself in the right order for the date sent. My husband is now a U.S. citizen! I went with him as a guest for his oath ceremony this morning. It was a really nice ceremony in the beautiful Paramount Theatre in Oakland, CA. His Visa Journey is now over, but this place has helped us so much, every step of the way.

Well your husband is married, so he has to file as being married. I don't know if that will give a higher refund by doing that. But he has to filled as being married since he is married now. I am the USC. When my husband first moved here, I filed as Married Filing Jointly and added his name to the taxes even though he did not work in the U.S. that year. In that situation, I don't think you can really even file married separately, because the non USC spouse had no U.S. income to file taxes for. We always file MFJ.

Carolct79, I don't think you quoted the latest timeline, because my husband's oath date is not on there... And now when msh quoted yours, it still wont be there. We need to be sure we are quoting from the latest list.

One thing to consider about this option though (not just for you, but for any one) is that you might lose citizenship in your home country. Either because you a) became a US citizen or b) you have not been a resident in your home country for a long time and automatically lost citizenship.

That is true, I did not mention that what I said earlier is not an option for some people, if their home country does not allow dual citizenship, and you will lose your home country citizenship if you get another citizenship. I totally understand people not wanting to give up their home country citizenship. But if that is the case, then you need to make decisions if you decide to move out of the U.S. You can't keep your U.S. residency if you are not going to live in the U.S. So if you really want to not live in the U.S. anymore, you need to understand you will lose residence status if you do that. So you really need to weigh your pros and cons about living in which country and decide where you want to live.

Although the OP is from Argentina, and with a quick Google search, I found out that Argentina does in fact allow dual citizenship. It's too bad the OP didn't research this sooner? Maybe lived in the U.S. long enough to apply for naturalization?

I have only the expired 2 year GCs and the current 10 year GCs ..

Do they mean like appointment letters and notice of actions from the beginning? I am having trouble finding all of them.

Oh, I didn't think of making sure my husband brought his expired 2 year GC to his interview. (His interview was last week, he was recommended for approval) Will this be a problem? Will it be ok if he just turned it in at his oath ceremony? (Along with his current 10 year GC?)

My husband and I did everything ourselves.

From K-1, to AOS, ROC and now Naturalization. (Which my husband is almost done with, his naturalization interview is next Tuesday, we're guessing his oath will be in March)

To be honest it was all pretty easy... You just fill out some forms, gather documents (and make photo copies of them to send in) and photos... Then you organize everything with a cover sheet and send the package off in the mail with a check or money order... I did some research at times of course, pretty much mostly here on Visa Journey, and if we ever had any questions, it was great to be able to post here and get answers to your questions! (Or sometimes I would find the answer to our question by just searching here on Visa Journey, finding other people who asked the same question in the past) But to be honest I thought all of this was fairly easy. We never had any RFE's, so I feel we did everything right so far, haha.

Passport tracker: 2016 US Passport Application Tracker List

Just checked my husband's case status and on December 28, his interview was scheduled. So he should be getting his interview letter soon.

My husband and I didn't file I-130, but I just checked the form, and indeed it says you have to send a check or money order. (Which I am not surprised, we sent checks for payment through every process, but naturalization. K-1, AOS, and ROC. Naturalization allows you to pay with a credit card, which we did this time.) Are you in the U.S. right now? The form says the check or money order must be drawn on a bank or other financial institution in the United States and must be payable in U.S. currency. My bank let us have checks for free when I signed up with them. But if you don't have any checks of your own, you can get a money order from a bank.

I had the biometrics taken on 10/13, still no in line. Should I be worried?

Did you check your Case Status on USCIS.gov? Without doing that, my husband and I would of had no idea his case was in line. He never got an email or text about it.

My husband went to his biometrics appointment on October 21. So far he hasn't gotten a text or email about being in line. So today I checked his status on the USCIS website, and saw that he has been in line for an interview since October 23. So weird he never got a text and/or email about it.

When I was looking at the October thread yesterday, and in that thread you said, "Note; After receiving numerous concerns about the NOA column, I have adjusted the legend so the NOA column should now reflect the Receipt Notice Date printed on the I-797 (NOA) notice rather than the date it is received in the mail! I hope this will provide more accuracy! We can always change it back if you all agree."

So that's why I thought I should put the receipt date, not the date it came in the mail. Or are you just starting that for October thread?

My husband is a September filer. I was waiting to join a N-400 filer thread because I wasn't sure if the NOA date would be in September or October. But his NOA came in the mail today, dated September 29.

Hi, thanks for responding to my post! That cleared up some confusion! I showed my husband that link. I asked him if he would have to register his new citizenship with the Finnish authorities within a certain amount of time after getting his new citizenship, and he said it seemed like you can do it at any time. He is planning to go to Finland next June, maybe he can even do it then. We sent in his N-400 package off in the mail yesterday, so we are thinking he will be having his oath around February or March. (Hopefully!) I see you had your oath already, and you were approved! Congratulations!

Hey, here's a Finnish/American couple! I know this thread hasn't been posted in for a few months, but I just discovered it now. My husband is Finnish. We did the K-1 visa in 2010, got married in the same year, did AOS in 2011 and ROC in 2013. Now we are thinking of having him apply for Naturalization very soon. But he believes that he read somewhere that Finnish citizens need to apply for something in Finland and pay a fee to be able to keep their Finnish citizenship when obtaining a new citizenship. But I am having trouble finding this information. He doesn't know if it's something you have to do before applying for a new citizenship, or after? I am just confused. I am starting to wonder if he remembered this correctly.

Back when we filed for my husband's ROC, I was a little worried we would get a RFE because we did not have any bills in our name. At the time we were also living with my mom, and she was living in that house and paying the bills there before we moved in. So we included with his ROC, a letter from my mother, stating when she moved into the house, and when we moved into the house, and that the bills are in her name because she lived in that house before we did. She signed it and left her contact information in the letter.

For some suggestions, some things we included in my husband's ROC were:

-A photocopy of our joint credit cards

-An emergency contact list from my job, showing that my husband is listed as my spouse and primary contact.
-Vacations together, we showed copies of car rental agreements, hotel reservations, and/or flight itineraries.

-Christmas cards address to both of us (although I see you listed letters, I assume that is something like this)

-And last, photos of us together. We sent photos of us on vacations and photos of us with my family.

We were approved without a RFE. But we also bought a car seven months before we filled for ROC, and used that as evidence too. But I think that you two had a baby is strong evidence. I would send the baby's birth certificate for sure. I hope I helped with some ideas for more evidence! Good luck!
