I met with a very nice lady today. Her husband and 4 children were there as well. She was very helpful and sweet. I had lots of questions, which she answered, then I said my Shahada(spell?). She showed me some a few things we talked, I was there for more then 2 hours, the kids all played. It was great! I just got home, we ate lunch, trying to get kids to nap. I guess I need to go take a shower to start my new life now. Oh, they also have a store there, it was not open today, but I cant wait to check it out.

Are you feeling better yet?
Not really. I am getting really weak and lightheaded sometimes, I am sure from lack of food. The doctor wants me to come in today, I am sure to get a stool sample kit, uggg, I said, cant I just puke in a bag for ya? LOL They also want me to take a pg test. At any rate, I dunno what to do, the Dr office is 45 min away, and only open till 12 today, and my meeting is at 11. then tomorrow is my twins bday. I was hoping it would be better with some rest over the weekend. Maybe I should postpone my meeting at the mosque till this afternoon and go to the dr.

As you all probably know I am new this will be my first year, and am very 'wet behind the ears', so can you tell me what is Ramadan food? I think I got this part, you eat before the sunrise and first prayer, then break your fast at sundown. (layman terms, sorry) But do I understand there is a certain food I should break my fast with? And what is Eid?
Masha Allah, does that mean you are a muslimah now?
There is no special food to break your fast with but it's sunnah to break it with dates and some milk then you can eat whatever you want.
Eid is right after ramadan is done it lasts 3 days it's the time where you celebrate breaking your fast after a long time of fasting.
I have been 'looking into' converting/reverting for some time now. I have now decided to convert, I am actually going to meet with a woman tomorrow at a local Mosque, I am soooo excited! I have considered myself Muslim in my heart for a while, but for some reason trying to learn everything first. But thanks to Rahma's blog I read something that encouraged me to 'just do it'. LOL
Thanks for the advise.

I have been sooooo sick on my stomach since Monday, I got back on Sat. I was never sick while I was there. I guess it is possible to have a delayed reaction to some food or something?

Now that you mention that I wish I'd kept a t-shirt he wore so I could have something of him. If I had known I was going to be away from him for so long it would have been nice to have around me. At least for the first few weeks I could still smell him on the t-shirt.
I got the shirt! Of course I cry everytime I smell it. Only because I miss him, dang, now I am tearing up. uggg. I dont know what is wrong with me, I have been the biggest sap the past week. Cry at everything. uggg
We all have our times like this. I go through my spurts. Just cry....sometimes it makes you feel better. I kept a shirt from Ahmed too, I wear it to bed some nights and I spray his cologne on my bed. Sigh.....I miss him.
As for what to keep, Oliva said it all.
He sprayed his cologne all over the shirt. LOL I sleep with it.

It is just as hot here, so no thanks. Actually I think it feels cooler in Egypt cause at least there is a little bit of a breeze, but at least we can escape into aircondition.

Well, congrats on the offer, but too bad on the timing. That would be a tough call for me.

Are there any kinds of things from my trip I should keep that will help when we file for his visa?

Thank you all! I have luggage!!!! whoohoo! They delived to my doorstep about 5am. I did not realize that lost luggage was so common, thats not good. Next trip I will fly Delta all the way, no changing carries etc.
I cant believe how much I miss Egypt, I know I was only there for a week, but I like it there, well, I like a lot of things about it. It was a real eye opener about how disrespectful people in the US can be.
We did have air condition in the bedroom, but not the whole house, and not in the taxi's. And when stuck in the 2 hour traffic jam with no air and NO leg room, I was certainly appreciative of my aircondition.
I will be posting some pics on my facebook page.

I am back from Cairo, bitter sweet leaving. I did not want to leave him, but missed my kids terribly. I wanted to pack him into my suitcase and bring him with me, good thing I didnt, since my luggage is NOWHERE to be found!
I had a great time, although it was hot, it is just as hot here, just I have AC in my car and central air in my house. LOL I never saw any mosquitos, glad about that, but the flies, uggg. LOL
Has the airline ever lost any of your luggage? Was it ever found?

I was wondering the same thing. I am a fan and was really expecting it tonight. Guess next week.I am so confused!! I sat down to watch the latest True Blood and HBO is not running it tonight. Anyone else out there confused. It is 9 and no True Blood and Hung is on next...What is up?
Thanks for letting me know that I'm not going crazy over here. Watching last weeks for the third time. Blah! so disappointed. Maybe next week.
I just finished watching it. Now Hung is coming on. Hope someone else saw it and can tell me what the heck was that on her back?

OK, thanks. i am a nervous wreck!
inshaAllah you'll be fine!
If things haven't changed since 2005, there should be a women's bathroom by where you get your luggage. You may want to bring a clean shirt or something to freshen up after the long trip. Just don't bring too much liquid or they'll confiscate it when you get on the plane
Ahh, how I'm having flashbacks to my first time in Egypt. I was soooo nervous. I got my bag and headed to the door. There was a huge crowd of people waiting to greet the passengers and I was looking for AbuS in it. Not there. A bit of fear was creeping up when I looked to the right of the crowd in front of the rope - he had somehow convinced the security people to let him stand right next to the door, in front of the crowd
Then we hopped in a taxi and I attempted to negotiate the price - in english. Needless to say, we paid waaay too much for a ride into cairo, lol. We stopped at a payphone to call my family, and then found our apartment in Giza. Then he let me settle in, and went out to get chicken and koshari for dinner. Mmm, don't forget to eat lots of koshari while you're there!
awwww, so sweet!
What is koshari?

I will get some immodium today. What do I need to tell the them at the airport to get a visa? Just tell them I am there visiting? do I need the address of where I am staying? etc?
You hand them your 15 dollars I believe is what it is and they give you this visa sticker. You don't have to say anything but tell them how many; at least that was what my experience always was. Make sure you have American cash on you for this. You will then be directed into the line for non citizens and you will then enter from there. Good luck, don't be nervous and have the time of your life!
OK, thanks. i am a nervous wreck!
Anyone get sick after coming back?
in Middle East and North Africa
