  1. At May's medical examine yesterday the Dr asked to see her divorce document from Japan. She brought it with her today.

Can you imagine any scenerio in which the Dr. would need to be involved in that? I can't. I know the Philippines does not have divorce but COME ON! The doctor should stick to MEDICAL and leave the LEGAL to the bureaucrats.

    Criminy!

  2. We completed application for the police clearance from the Japanese Embassy (which included obtaining letter US Embassy, getting form from the Japanese Embassy, fingerprinting done police station on the other side of town then back to the Japanese Embassy to turn everything in). All-in-all 5 hours to complete.

Tomorrow May goes for her medical at St Lukes (1PM). I will be calling the US Embassy tomorrow to get a 6/18 interview date.

    Step-by-step closer!

  3. Happy Easter to all!

    @ spencer12 - Congrats, awesome news!

@ Audy_Rob - The info I have is that K1s are not a part of their automated system. The first prompt is for Haiti related or not. Then I choose option 2 (which includes K1). I ended up calling the NVC for both events(received by them and sent to embassy) 2 times each. For them receiving my packet, the first person I spoke with would only tell me that they had it but not when it arrived but he did give the case number. When I called back the next day the second person told me what day it had arrived and to call back in 7 days. A week later, the first person I spoke with stated that the package had left for the embassy "this week" but when asked for a specific date he simply repeated "this week". When I called back that evening I was told it left on 3/29.

The DHL package arrived in Manila on 4/2 so I suspect it will be delivered to the USE Manila on Monday. I plan on calling Wednesday night (their Thursday morning) to try scheduling May's interview for June 18th. She has to obtain a Japanese police clearance which can take 4-6 weeks. We are hoping an October wedding so the earliest she can arrive is the end of July.

I have just started packing for my 3 weeks in the Philippines with May. Then in July she should be here!!

  4. I confirmed that our visa packet is in Manila now. Should be delivered to the USEM on Monday. I will call them my Wednesday evening to book for an interview in mid June (May wants an October wedding so this should timeline quite nicely.

Since I will be in the Philippines from 4/10 to 5/1, I will go with May to her medical done, probably the week of the 19th.

If I read the posts here correctly, we can just show up with our NOA2 and her passport (although we might have the letter from NVC by then as well).

I see all the people who have posted on this thread and it feels like I have been reading most of your posts for a very long time and now we are all going through the process at the same time as well.

    Good luck one and all!

  5. I was lamenting that Nik and I weren't on track just one year later.

I mean, not only is 10/10/10 great (even a guy can remember that date!!) but 101010 in binary is 42, and it's just at the end of the 42nd week of the year - and for a crazy Douglas Adams girl like me, it would just be so great.

But, in the end, just getting married was more important. Besides, I bet most of the good places are already booked by now...

I'm sure you noticed you have a cool wedding date as well. If listing the year first yours is 2009-10-11

  6. It seems the update posts on the USCIS site is inconsistent. Our touch & notification occurred on 3/23 but it was for actions taken on 3/18 (the date on our NOA2).

I am all for them working on processing the packets and being a little slow on the touch updates (unless less an RFE is involved, then get those notices out as quickly as possible!).

On another note, called the NVC and got our Manila case number. May will be going to the USEM on Tuesday to get her letter to obtain her Japanese Security clearence (which takes about 30-45 days).

We are hoping our packet will arrive at the USEM duing my visit next month. Hoping to schedule her interview for mid-June.
