  1. My interview experience

This morning we went there 20 minutes earlier than the appointment time. After security check, we had waited 15 minutes as a couple arrived before us had been called. Then the woman came to us and call my name then said to follow her to her office. She introduced her name and told us be seated. She took off my I-94 from my passport and then opened my files. Asked many questions as am I a terrorist?......

    - When did we meet?

    - How we met?

    - How long we meet in person?

    - How I proposed and when?

    - How many people attended our church/wedding dinner ?

    - Have children or not?

    - Any photos that showed our relationship

I gave her an album and guest book. She had looked our wedding photos thoroughly. Then asked the evidence of our financial relationship. So I gave joint account, health insurance card, retirement beneficiary. The officer also asked for AP and EAD. Then I gave her. She asked me would you plan to go travel? I said yes, we planned to travel domestically. So she returned my EAD as a proof of ID. She said that congratulation as she will recommend me to approve. And give the approval letter to me. Told me wait for minutes cuz she want to copy the evidence I gave. after few minutes, she came back and then said my green card will be in the mail within 3 weeks. WoW!!! Finally, she told me I have to mail my EAD with a copy of approved letter given to the office after I got my actual green card. I said "Thank you very much". We shook our hand and she brought us to the door.

She is a very nice officer and friendly. Our interview was only taken 15 minutes.

Thanks Unique and congrats  I'll be bringing my guestbook too. Thanks for the idea. =)

  2. my parent consistent letter does it have to be stamp by a lawyer with a seal n they watch my parenets sign it? im confuse with that can somebody can explain it to me cuz i getting marry soon i need to know before i leave the states thanks.

    According sa travel.state.gov

"Marriage applicants who are age 18 to 21 must have parental consent in writing, those age 21 to 25 must have written parental advice (a written indication that the parents are aware of the couple's intent to marry). The revised Family Code of the Philippines, which took effect on August 4, 1988, prohibits marriage for individuals below the age of 18."

Actually, inemail ko ang St. Mary Euphrasia Foundation bago ako umattend ng seminar ng CFO doon. Ang reply sa akin ay mayroong:

"If you have a visa, please bring the original passport with the visa and 3 copies of the passport and the visa. If no visa yet, Bring two valid Identification cards (any of the ff: Passport, NBI Clearance, SSS digitalized ID, TIN, PRC or Birth Certificate on security paper issued by the NSO. There is a P250 registration fee and P400.00 for the CFO Certificate and sticker.

If you are under 23 year old, you may bring a copy of a notarized parental consent of your intended marriage. If previously married, bring a copy of an annulment decree of your previous marriage or if partner is also previously married, please bring a copy of his divorce paper also."

  3. I stopped wasting my time with the USCIS website's case checker.

Probably won't look at it again until Removing of Conditions, though I wonder if it's going to be just as unreliable by then too

I think your EAD/AP Approvals will arrive later. Your NOA1 date is March 1st (or Feb 26). My NOA1 notice date is Feb 16. My card was ordered for production only Thursday last week.

  4. Wow! 20,000 per month, if that amount of money is just for herself, really that's a lot.

If she lives in Manila, she can afford an apartment, internet connection, air conditioned room, cable connection, plenty of food, and new set of clothes every month. She can live luxuriously.

If she lives in the province, 20000 a month can afford her all the above, pay a helper and a driver. You want to treat her like a queen, eh? She doesn't need to work with that amount of money.

A piece of advice from me. Please don't spoil your Filipina partner, as earlier mentioned by a vj member. I agree with her.

Average Monthly salary in Manila is Php8000-Php12000 a month. If she lives alone, that is enough for her daily needs. If she lives with her family, she has extra money on her pocket.

Those who have Php15000-20000 a month salary in manila are those who can become managers, or work for companies based on US that outsourced their jobs. Call center agents have 15000 to 25000 salary per month, and I tell you that's a lot.

In the province 8000 monthly salary is plenty of money to pay for her daily needs. If she lives with someone, and contribute to the expenses, she needs a couple or four thousands more.

If you provide your partner with this amount of money, your partner does not have to work at all, and just depend on you. She might abuse your money in the future especially if she moves in US. Just track the expenses, and talk about money with her. This will allow you to become financially responsible couple in the future. If you have a lot of money, then I say she is a lucky Filipina to have found you.

  5. so 5000 may be enought to get by if you have the lifestyle my wife has wich is just basic nothing really extra, but how is 10,000? 5000 more i want to try and send about 10,000 every 2 weeks unless i have the money to send more that week.

  6. I did my initial name change when I applied for my SSS number. I dropped my mom's last name and made my dad's my middle name. I didn't see any problem with this. However, I just read a topic in the Adjustment of Status (filing) wherein an applicant mentioned that the AOS interviewer told her not to follow the Philippine's way of name changing their middle name after marriage. Instead, keep her mom's last name as her middle name. Follow US rules. Because it will be a problem on Naturalization.

    Does anyone have experienced this?

  7. She told me that I need to change my name. Dropping my father's last name as my present middle name and used my mother's maiden last name next time coz its required when filing naturalization someday. That I need to follow the US way of using name. (hmm ok)

    Congrats on your approval.

Regarding name change, how will you do that? Do you have to go back to the SSS office to change your name? I followed Philippines rule so I dropped my mom's last name. Hmm...

  8. I just received my AP :) (two copies!) - the online status still says "Initial Review" but I guess I don't care about that now :D. I think the approval date was 4/1 together with my EAD.

And then a text message came telling me that there is an update on my EAD case - I checked online and it says that they mailed my approval notice (including the EAD?) today.

A few more days to the interview!!!! :D

Congrats snivvel on your approvals and to everyone here.

I just got back from our vacation and no mails for me.. geezz... I was so excited to see the mailbox again and I was just disappointed not to see any mail from uscis

  9. Congrats to everyone who got updates this week.

For me, I will still not know if I have any until Thursday next week. I am miles miles away from our mailbox in Utah. We are here in California for vacation. I guess that will keep my mind occupied and not think about the case. I don't get e-mail updates anyway even I signed up so I really have just to look forward of any mail when we get back. ;) Have a happy weekend everyone :)

  10. For anyone else who is obsessed with checking their status online, our I-485 has not been touched since 3/5 and is still in "RFE" status. It's probably better so I stop checking it a million times a day :).

Thanks for sharing. I have noticed too that they haven't updated the cases online recently. Btw, congrats on your interview appt. And I usually check this thread for interview experiences. Thanks and congrats

  11. Im actually a March filer for AOS but I appliedfor EAD on Feb 3 coz I wanted to work as soon as I can. It was a mistake though, coz we read somewhere that you can apply for EAD as K1 even without AOS only to find out that it takes 3 months and it will expire once your I-94 expires. we were gonna withdraw the application but decided to let it run its course. We did biometrics and then we got an RFE for our AOS NOA. what happened was that they thought we forgot to send in our AOS NOA. they gave us 3 weeks to comply so during that 3 weeks, we sent off our AOS application then sent them back the RFE once we got the NOA. and 7 days after my EAD was approved. so all's well that ends well. I was pretty lucky I guess. I applied on Feb 3 and got approved March 26.

    Oh interesting. Congrats!
