We bring our doggie back and forth from T.O and FL all the time....best to check on the U.S aggriculture website...I know that for our dog he began travel when he was under 6 mos old...we just had to have all his vacination papers with us. That's what was required for his age. But for a young puppy they will for sure need proof of their vacines up to date.
Thanks, it helps, even when i called the vet for my cat asking what it's needed, there were contradictory answers: his assistant said it's needed a certificate of good health, then the vet said no,it's not needed, only the rabby vaccine. So it seems that for puppies/dogs is the same...and i'll have a look at the agriculture site you refered me.
I have a puppy now, she a bit older than the one you're going to bring in and my vet her in Nova Scotia told me that in order to bring in the pup she had to have a rabbies vaccine that was no older than 30 days and a certificate of health no older than 30 days. Meaning if I was going to enter the states at the end of the month, I'd have all my paperwork done the day before we left. When I traveled to the US with my other dog I never had any problems with his paperwork. Some of the customs people would check his paperwork and others just aked if he was up date. I don't think you'll ever get a straight answer. Just check the vaccinations the pup needs for it's age.

Hi everyone, my husband had posted this in another forum but I think fellow Canadians may be able to help answer this better than anyone else. I apologize now if this question has already been answered on a previous thread.
Hello all!!! I'm Laurent spouse of Amber-Lynn and I need your help. Many Thanks in advance.
Lease is due Sept. 09 I don't wanna buy it, I cant return it (too expensive) or cant sell it for that matter because buy back+(18 month @ 350) is to much!!!
So GMAC Canada tells me I can take the car to the USA only for 180 days but the car has to be back here for 1 month and so and so...
This is the answer from US CUSTOMS :
You may temporarily import the car; however, it cannot be reimported after the 1 year temporary import expires. Please se the following:
Question:
Temporarily importing a vehicle, car or engine into the U.S.
Answer:
Vehicles and engines imported into the U.S. temporarily may be eligible for an exemption from complying with Federal emission requirements. Generally vehicles are imported temporarily for the following purposes: for repair or alteration, display, testing, imported by a diplomat or foreign military member or nonresidents.
Generally, a Customs bond is posted for vehicles temporarily imported for repair or alterations, display, and testing purposes. The importer must file a temporary importation under bond (TIB)entry with CBP. A bond is usually required for vehicles that are shipped.
When a vehicle accompanies a traveler crossing the border a bond generally is not required. However, a CBP officer can require the importer to post a bond. You can obtain a Customs bond from a surety company. A list of sureties is available on the Treasury web site under publications, circular 570.
Generally, diplomats, foreign military, and nonresidents temporarily importing a vehicle through a land border do not have to file a Customs bond. However, a CBP officer has the authority to request a bond be filed.
Approval to temporarily import a vehicle is not required from EPA or DOT, however the forms 3520-1 and HS-7 should be filed and submitted to CBP. Ensure you check the appropriate box when filling out the 3520-1, and indicate the appropriate code for temporary imports in block 9 on the form HS-7. Vehicles or engines temporarily imported for the above purposes, must be exported or destroyed within 1 year. They can only remain in the U.S. if an entry is filed with U.S. Customs and Border Protection and duty is paid. These vehicles must conform to U.S. emission and safety standards to be cleared through CBP and to be registered in your state by the Department of Motor Vehicles.
The problem is, I will be a Permanent Resident. Anyone had to go through with this? any suggestions?
I'm waiting for a reply from CBP CUSTOMS web help and will let you guys know about it.
Thanks alot for reading.
This might not help you because I have bought my carin the US and did not lease it. When I brought my US bought car into Canada while I waited for my paperwork, GMAC said to make payments on it. I know that GMAC Canada did not honour my waranity when I ran into problems with the car. Canadian customs didn't make me pay taxes on the car because it wasn't staying in the Country. I do know that some dealership don't like their cars to leave the provinces of lease let alone the country. A little suggestion. Maybe you can decide on a car you want to keep for 5 years. Trade in your current car and buy the other one. That way the car doesn't have to be returned when the lease is up.

HELP-DS230
in Canada
I saw where someone in London waited 2 months and they still had not received packet 4, and it was because they had not sentin the second part of the DS-230 form.....
I understood that you were to only fax back the first part to Vancouver....
Someone who has allready received packet 4 let me know what you did...
THanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!
For a I-130 visa, when interviewing in Montreal you need to fill in both part 1 and 2 of the DS-230 for the interview.

Can anyone please tell me if i can re-apply for my wife if she has a ten year penalty for overstaying in the U,S.
when i first applied for my wife i was an LPR and had filed the I130 for her.
She went throught the whole visa process n was denied, and had to fill out a hardship waiver because she had overstayed for 4 years.
I have just becme a citizen and want to get her back in the U.S and do not know what to do or where to start. If someone can please advise i will greatly appreciate it.
Do i need to file the I130 again or what.
Also i have three children
2 are u.s.c
1 British
all under the age of 5.
Rick
My understanding of this process is- that if your I-601 waiver is denied than your I-130 is denied. In some cases where people's I-601 waivers are denied people have filed paper work to appeal the decision. And an appeal can take from 18months on to get seen -approved or denied. That being said, if you've done nothing after the inital denial of your waiver you'd probably have to start the process over. I think you might get more information on the pocess over on the immigrate 2 us forum.

Hehehe .... at my 18 week ultrasound, my baby didn't move at all, just lay there chillin'. Of course, when we went to the doctor's appt. right after, baby was moving all over the place!
New Orleans Bound, I am curious .... why don't they tell you the gender of the baby at the ultrasound? Is that a Canadian thing or just specific to Nova Scotia?
No Autumnchik, It's just specific to Nova Scotia. The only time you might get told the sex is when you become a high risk pregnancy usually towards the end of the pregnancy. When my friend was pregnant 2 years ago with her little boy, she started leaking amoniotic fluid around month 7, and she had to go for frequent checks. She was able to find out than that she was having a boy but otherwise they don't tell you. One of my friends said that the technicians cannot tell you. Something about them telling you is against the law. Doesn't matter how much to beg and plead.
With all my planning to get home my husband and I decided to plan an appointment with an OBGYN in New Orleans. I've been sitting here in Nova Scotia with an approved visa for months but nothing in hand. If all pans out, I should have a visa soon and than maybe we'll know the sex. It's hard planning anything when you don't know the sex. My husband and I have to go shopping for everything when I return home. The only thing we have right now is a crib.

Has anyone here ever been asked to submit an I-601 when there was no outstanding ban for overstay or other immigration charge/reason for inadmissibility (even per the consulate)?
Has anyone ever been asked to submit an I-601 when they were only legally required to submit and I-212 (for example someone who was denied entry and given an expedited removal) who was not deported for other reason such as overstay/misrepresentation?
I am in this situation at this point, one consular official told me somewhere in the line, "This is the only way we do it." (i.e. accept both forms at the consulate) Note: This is correct, because if the 212 is submitted alone the consulate doesn't ever touch it in Immigrant visa cases.
All consulates have to go by the Immigration and Nationality Act standards, right? They cannot require a 601 if there is no reason that they can site, right? If they give you a form that says the reason for a waiver is an Expedited Removal they have to abide by INA 212 a 9 B 1, right?
(9) 12/ ALIENS PREVISOUSLY Removed.-
(A) Certain aliens previously removed.-
(i) Arriving aliens.-Any alien who has been ordered removed under section 235( B )(1) or at the end of proceedings under section 240 initiated upon the alien's arrival in the United States and who again seeks admission within 5 years of the date of such removal. . . . .
(iii) Exception.-Clauses (i) and (ii) shall not apply to an alien seeking admission within a period if, prior to the date of the alien's reembarkation at a place outside the United States or attempt to be admitted from foreign contiguous territory, the Attorney General has consented to the alien's reapplying for admission. http://www.uscis.gov/propub/ProPubVAP.jsp?...fb0686648558dbe

Have you tried emailing Montreal and seeing what they say. It's really hard to get them to actually give you a straigh forward answer. I wish I could help you. But I knew from the start that I would have to file a waiver. I just didn't expect that it would take over 3 years to approve.

We always had dogs in my house growing up and we have never put any of them in a crate. My family always had the perception that it was kinda cruel.
Every where I go with Cooper- he gets lots of attention being a puppy- there are always people talking about crate training. One of Cooper's siblings went to another guy at my husbands work and he is doing the crate. He says it is great- the puppy is quiet and sleeps all night. Another couple I met at Petco yesterday who also have a lab pup said the same thing.
I am debating about it- from what I have heard it isn't cruel for them - it is a safe haven for them. It would be nice at night- I wake up several times if I hear him and am always worrying if he is chewing anything that he might swallow or hurt himself.
What are your experiences with either your own dog or a friend/family's dog that is crate trained?
With my first dog a lab mix, I never properly crate trained him and had problems with him. I could never really trust him in the house for fear that he would destroy things and he did. The Second dog I got I crate trained him however my roommate and I shared responsibilty for him and my roomie was too much of a softie and she wouldn't put him in the crate so we had some issues there. He was another dog that we couldn't trust to be alone cvause he go into everything and was terrible out peeing in the house. Now my last dog- a border collie loves her crate! During the day she can go in and out of it. It has her favourite blanket in it and all her toys. As she gets bored with one toy she fetches another one. She'll eat her treats in there and a night she head straight for her crate. Sometimes in the morning I have a really hard time coaxing her out of her crate. Her crate is her own safe haven. I know that it sound cruel to crate a dog but it's actually the safest and kindest thing to do to a young dog. After successful training this dog to the crate, all the otehr dogs after her will be crate trained. And as someone mentioned it, it was a bonus that she liked her crate for flying purposes.
There's lots of literature out there on how to crate train a dog. And peoples opinions vary with this topic. However I feel that it's something a dog should be use to. If you ever go away and put your dog in a kennel-it will need to know how to be comfortable in a crate. Also crate training needs to be a positive experience for the dog and not a negative one. That's why I try not to use the crate when I discipline my dog. Good luck with what ever you try.

Congratulations Chad. I have my 'big' US on the 26th and we're sooo excited about the gender...can't wait to find out.
Hi Eveline.
Are you going to be 20 weeks when you go for your Big Ultrasound on the 26th? I'm going to be 21 weeks when I go for mine on the 25th. I think you're lucky to get to find out the sex of your baby. Here in Nova Scotia they don't tell you. I have to wait until I give birth. I really wish they did gender ultrasounds at the hospital. Oh well. what's another 20 weeks, right.

Yes, I got a reply today from them. Stating he needs this certificate and they need more proof of relationship. We submitted the following:
1. Over 200 hundred pictures
2. All the phone calls since filing the 129f ( I figured they would have the other proof that I sent with the I129F?)
3. A few emails
4. Copy of passport, boarding pass, Itinerary, from second trip.
We talk more on IM now since Fiance connected to internet at home. I don't have any records of that only earlier.
They told me the burden of proof was on me. I cant possibbly think of anything else? Only stuff from interview forward. I can have my friends and family write a letter. I can write one on my behalf
They want more. I dont have any more. Sometimes we would talk for over an hour a day.
I guess I also feel offended that they think it is not a bonafide relationship. I mean why would I waste my time or energy on something like this if it is not somethign I want.
They do receive all the information and proof I sent with the 129f?
I feel like writing them back that we will send more but they need to also open there eyes and look at what they have and see it for what it is. THe guy at interview asked my fiance why I did not stay longer over there. I am in a job where the first 2 weeks of the month we are not able to take vacation due to work load and it being month end. Do you know how hard it is to take off 2 weeks at one time for me.....My fiance explained this to them and they said I am lying everyone in goes over there for longer. I don't if they are provoking him or what. I mean yeah I can go and quit my job and stay there for longer but than they will say I have no income and deny him for that. It is a no win situation.
I don't know how others wait months and years to get through this BS.
What is this DOS number I found to check a case? Can I call them?
Fiance will be going to get this certificate so hopefully they have time to review whatever they need to
Thanks
Now what I have is evidence for establishing a Martial Bona Fide Relationship. But I'm sure you can take of few of these and use them in your case.
-bank books or bank statements with dated transactions which show names of both of you and your spouse
-any letters which you and your significant other received addressed to both of you
-any leters or cards exchanged between you and your sign. other during your courtship
-statements from acquaintances knowing about your relationship and having seen you and your significant other together
-copies of telephone bills showing calls made between you and your sig. other
-any photos taken of you and your significant other either alone or together(make sure to write a short description of each photo)
-any receipt for a purchase you may have made together that lists both of your names-such as furniture.
sorry not edited for spelling. Hope this helps

If we got married would it effect us applying for a k-3?
Same effect. You first need to determine if there was an overstay of more than 180 days. If there was, any visa will be denied during the ban period. Waivers of inadmissibility can be granted for hardship, but not until after the visa application has been denied. If the overstay was less than 180 days a waiver should not be required and the visa may be granted.
John and Marlene- it's not necessarily true--if one's overstay is less than 180 days. I had an overstay of less than 180 days and it triggered a ban of 3 years. ANd even with a hardship application, I still didn't get approved till the three years were up. I'm going on 43 months and still no visa. Montreal says I've been approved but no documentation. Still pending.....

ok trying this again. I went into the hospital for an ultrasound, the doctor was haing a hard time hearing the fetal heart beat. I was so worried that something was wrong, but the ultrasound showed one very large active baby with a heart beat. This is our third try, with the other two pregnancies ending in a miscarraige. I was very relieved to see a live baby. Now we're starting to get excited.
-
You already stated what you are. Why the big deal about this?
So are you one of those people who support the murder of inocent babies?
It's not murder of inocent babies. A woman has the right to terminate a pregnancy if she wants to regardless of how it happed. It is a person's right- just as free speech.

I will definitely keep the skin condition in mind.
Most of the dogs we have had have been from the SPCA- mixed/crossed breeds. As far as health problems went- there was rarely a problem. They all lived to be at least 16.
I know that "purebreds" can often have medical problems- I assume from over breeding, etc. I will definitely want to look into a reputable breeder.
Did you get you dog yet? I bought a border collie and she drives me nuts. Too smart for her own good or maybe I'm too dumb for mine. She trained easily enought but I can't get her to sopped chewing the wood in the house. It was a chair yesterday and last week she ate a portion of the kitchen window sill. Before that she was chewing the quarter round. I'm starting to go gray now with all this chewing.
-
does this now mean we can call Montreal. I've gotten no-where emaiing them.
-
Sorry having troube down loading a ticker. Will try again soon. I'm not that far along and hoping the pregnancy sticks.
-
So I am wondering if there are any couples out there who had a waiver approved? I trying to find out how long it takes to get a visa pick up appointment after a waiver is approved. I've already tried the waiver forum but there's not manu canuks there, that's why I here. Any takers?
-
I agree next year in America! Happy Turkey Day!
I see by your time line, that your bundle of joy is not that far away- only 4 days! I hope you have an eventful delivery and congrats.
-
Hey KitKat,
Hoping you get this message. I know that you're dealing with the Mexican Embassy and I'm dealing with Montreal, but I thought I'd ask any way. Do you have any idea on how to get an embassy to arrange a visa pick up appointment? I already have a sensator involved but neither of us are getting anywhere with my embassy. I keep sending emails and they keep sending form emails back to me. Any suggestions?

I received a waiver application at Montreal for an I-601 and also got a 212a, but haven't filed, instead I sent a copy of everything I had to the director of DHS/USCIS in Washington for an honest opinion of the facts as the reasoning for the waiver in Montreal was tainted by a COs noting in my file her impressions which were wrong. Hoping to hear from DC soon.
Ron, I hope you and Sharon get a resolution too. I'm sure your file with be delt with faster than at Vermont or Montreal, now that's it's in DC.
-
I am, 212, and for Montreal to reply to ANYONE...
So I was reading your signature/timeline have they made any new progress??
Sorry it's taken me so long to reply. We have goten no where with our waiver. It's really hard arguing a case when they wont listen to me. And it seems government workers really hate it when you point out mistakes. That is our obstacle, no one is willing to listen. I keep telling them that the I-130 has been approved another 5 times since it's second revival in May 2007 with the last approval being Sept 25 2007. However CIS keeps telling me that a waiver is necessary.
I ask what for and they say because we sent one it, and it's being processed. They can't give me an answer till processing is finished.
So I say finish processing it for what- CIS says overstay.
Me- I've already served my time for the overstay, why are you processing a waiver that is no longer necessary? Let me transfer you to.....
This has been my coversation with Vermont for the last 5 months.
I have a senator involed and even they get the run around. I keep pushing for answers and nothing until today. Today we founf out that our wiaver-which was no longer needed has been approved. YEAH CIS! stupid a$$es. However I am grateful. Now I get to wait another 6-8 weeks for the paperwork to arrive from Vermont and another few months for the visa to arrive from Montreal.

Here's the deal..
Please keep in mind he was 20 when all of this happened 1999. His licensed were suspended due to excessive 24 hour suspensions (alcohol related). He was caught driving with a suspended license at a road check and had to go to court for that. He was sentenced to 10 days of electronic monitoring at home but only had to serve 7 days (?!). His licensed were returned to him but unfortunately, later in the year, he got a DUI and stayed overnight in the "drunk tank" to "sober up" and his licensed were suspended for a year. That is his criminal record.
Two questions:
1) In your opinion, would either the DUI or driving with suspended license constitute a crime of moral turpitude?
2) If yes, can we submit the waiver now, or do we need to wait until the interview?
Thank you so much in advance for your help.
You might need a waiver. Not sure about that. What does his police record state? What I do know is that you will not be able to file your waiver until his interview.

The waivers section of this site is really struggling since kitkat1 left...
[/
Did KitKat really leave? That really sucks. Kitkat is quite knowledgeable with filing Mexician waivers and waivers in general. Sincerely hoping she lurks from time to time.
-
Look on the bright side -- at least you have an option to even enter the US without a waiver having been approved. The majority of people who have to file waivers definitely do not have this option and are forced to remain outside the US (and usually separated from their SO for a long, long time).
With a somewhat valid reason and the right documentation things can happen, but only if you try and make it happen. This will be my last entry into the States for a while, but that doesn't stop Sharon from coming here to visit.
Ron, how did you find out about this waiver program. Can yo direct me to the site. I'm praying like crazy I can get something that would allow me to attend a family members wedding. I know it's different in your situation with Sharon's father passing away-my condolences to you both.

I've been reading all your posts ladies and have to say that I'd take back pain over morning sickness. I thought that after week 14 it would go away but it got worst. I was really surprised at how bad it was. I'm not a small lady by any means but even my doctor was concerned because I had lost weight from my inital visit with her at 14 weeks. Up untill now (I'm 21 weeks now) I didn't even look pregnant. Now I just look like I've put on weight in my mid section. I'm looking forward to the day I pop out.
I worry thought because I haven't really felt any kicks or movements. I know the baby is a live because one of the doctors I work with did an ultrasound for me at 18 weeks. I guess it's a small perk to work in a hospital in Nova Scotia. My next ultrasound is on the 25th. I'm hoping the baby has his/ her legs wide open and I can tell if it's a her or a him.
I've also started to buy things now too. I can't believe how much I still have to get. I'm kind of stuck- I'm not sure if I should buy my things from Target or Walmart. What do you guys think? I bought my stroller and basinet in Nova Scotia but it's the rest of the things I have to get. Did anyone find the task of buying everything over whelming. I have no idea what to get. All of my coworkers have different opinions. Has anyone bought or heard of the baby monitor that's a pad on the crib that monitors the baby's breathing?
