Hello All,

It's been so long since I've been online. I hope all is going well for everyone.

Things are slow here, but Ahmed has been hired as a substitute teacher's aid. He is in the process of updateing his bachelor's degree so he can teach here. It's been crazy, and we constantly go through a learning process. Everything takes so much time. However, I feel confident he is headed in the right direction.

Oh, and he had told the superintendant that hired him he was worried about his accent. Turns out the superintendant wasn't. So folks.......never let the little things stop you.

I wish you all the best. And again, thank you for everything. I couldn't have held it together so long without you.

As a note........I spoke with Deb of Deb and Ali, and she said her fiance had another interview today. It's been well over 3 years for them. Let's all send some mojo her way.

I started my diet the day after Memorial Day last year and I have since lost 60 pounds. Ever since January 2009, it seems like I have hit a brick wall. I have tried everything. Walking two miles a day and there have even been times when I did not eat for days . My doctor says that I am now in my range for my height/weight but it is at the upper end and I just want to lose another 40 pounds to say I lost 100 pounds ! I just feel like my body is fighting me tooth and nail to stay at this weight and at 30 years old, it is just not like when I was 22 in college trying to lose weight. I just feel like a failure.

I am sure there is a nice log cabin you can go live in in some wilderness where you will not have to bother with taxes.

Do anything that is not right under the bible, find yourself in jail by the Christian police. Alcohol might find itself in prohibition again. With a strong emphasis on capitalism and no social safety net, poverty rates would climb and most of the wealth and power would be held by an elite few. No free education, and most of the talented academics would probably not hang around. Even if they claim to be democratic, the country would eventually revert to some kind of totalitarianism, driven by religion and an unequal distribution of wealth.

The "Left" country would be socially very free, you can choose whatever religion you want, or don't choose any. You can do pretty much anything you want as long as it doesn't interfere with rights of others. Economically wealth would be more distributed. There will be rich and poor people, but wealth distribution would be much less dramatic than it would be in "Right" country.

That makes it sound like the socially aware side of the country would be the better place to be, especially if you were poor, or had other special needs. Of course, if you were rich and greedy, you would want to take your stuff and head to the other side. Do you see any problems with that?

• Need public safety assistance - Police, fire or ambulance.
• Make you pay the unsubsidized costs for both fuel and food.
• Want to visit a park or other public meeting space.
• Want to go fishing or hunting on public land.
• Charge you hourly rates for use of the courts.
• Catching a criminal that damages you or your property
