haha, it's so confusing, I know.
Send in the forms + the checklist.
Do NOT send in the photos, birth certificate, or police record.
The birth certificate is supposedly the long, official type one and I think there's a link on how to get one on the London embassy website.
lol star, thank you so much... if thats the case we could of sent it weeks ago rather than waiting for the certificate!
Clear as mud lol.
On one of the forms though it says about attaching the police and birth certificate with the passport photo's... so I don't send anything in at all with these ds forms and checklist - I just take all that stuff with the evidence to the interview? What about the affidavit of support?
Sundrop - Yep I managed to order 2 copys from the GRO website, they only do the long versions on there. I just entered in my details and that was it. Ive no idea what district I was born in, just the county.. im sure that will be ok?
Thanks again!

Hey guys and girls,
In reading the IV-15 checklist it says that "Please do not mail any documents to the Embassy. You will be required to furnish all documents on the day of your visa interview." However, on DS-156K it's asking me to attach my police and birth certificate... so which do I do?
Is this IV-15 checklist nothing to do with the DS forms.. as in its not a checklist for that? I send that in seperate?
Also its asking for certified copys of my birth certificate.. im assuming they mean original or? Not sure how you would get a birth certificate certified? Do they mean one ordered from the goverment website online?

Thats so awesome, congratulations guys! Fingers crossed some of us will be in that boat this year!

Just to minor thread hijack here (sorry!) but some of the links posted are awesome - specially the one for britishdelights. I was starting to wonder if I would ever be able to get some proper 'squash'! Does anyone else have any similar links such as that one which contains a wide variety of British produce?

The NOA1 is a useless document and is only a receipt. No harm, no foul. That said...what on earth is your fiancee doing sending original documents to you in a foreign country? NEVER do that. She, the US citizen, should keep ALL original correspondence. The NOA2, approval, IS an important document so she should stop doing things which will cause problems in the future. This was a freebie, the next documents are important, never, ever, send or give away the originals for any reason
First off how rude.. second off the guidelines stated that all originals are needed for the interview..
First off how rude.. second off the guidelines stated that all originals are needed for the interview..why are you going off on me? we were doing what we thought was needed.. maybe the guides should be updated?
-
NOA is not needed in the future but it carries your application number
where you would be able to check on any updates for your case ,( so i hope he made a copy before he mailed it out )
my advise is in the future to make copies of everything you recieve or you mail out
so you always have a backup incase a doc gets lost ,( also i would never send any orig in mail always copies )
specialy the NOA 2 wich will be needed at the interview as well as after the K1 is aproved and you have to file for AOS
Thank you for the help.. and it was me (adrian, female) that sent it..i wouldnt have sent it except they say that originals are needed for the interview.. thats the only reason.. and it wasnt suppose to be sent in the mail.. he took all the other papers back with him when he went home.. it was left here by accident and we thought he needed all originals.. we are sure that its on its way just want to make sure we have a back up if needed.. but upon looking it seems that the noa1 just means they got the packet..and the noa2 is the one that is of importance..

Heya,
My fiancee sent the NOA1 in a letter about 2 weeks before christmas from the US - however its still not here yet. Understandibly with the christmas post being what it is im crossing my fingers that it'll be here in the next week or two, however is the NOA1 needed when I go to the interview or at any other stage now between packet 3 and the final bit? If so does anyone know how much it costs to replace, and where should I go to do this as ive been all around the USCIS website and can't find a thing, just replacement NOA2's.
Cheers!

The doctor I had during my medical was quite chatty. Many of the things she talked about could easily have been relevant to the k1 application, or they could just have been idle chatter. It's difficult to tell, and sometimes the uncertainty is a bit unnerving. I'm sure it'll be okay, but I know I'd have been worried if they'd have gone on at me about my weight.
Regarding the chicken pox: Well, I'm sure someone can confirm this, but I'm pretty sure that the reason they ask is because if you've had it already, they can sign off on the vaccination form and you don't need to worry about getting the vaccination for AoS. Since you've had your medical now, I don't think you can do much about them not having signed you off on the form as having had chicken pox, but I would maybe try to get some sort of written proof from your doctor to confirm that you had the illness when you were younger. People who have had chicken pox don't need to be vaccinated. When you get to AoS, you'll need to see a civil surgen to sign off to say you've had chicken pox, and also update any other immunizations you've had (or will need for AoS) since the medical.
Thanks for clearing that up. I just want to be prepared just incase they do need some kind of evidence, guess its just best to just ask my GP next week when I see him. Im sure the weight thing was just idle chatter.. I mean can they really deny someone with a weight issue.. surely thats discrimination? Hell.. I don't smoke, don't drink, don't do drugs.. its my only vice! lol

Do I need to get a letter or form from my GP stating that ive had chicken pox, do they even ask for it at a later date?
Will me being overweight effect the outcome of the K1 decision? (im 6'4 150kg / 23 ish stone)
Did they ask you about having had it as a kid, if so and you replied that you did have it, they'll note that you've had it so don't need vaccination.
And nope, I jolly well hope not with the weight thing!
Yes, I just said I think I did.. but wasn't sure. I asked my mother when I got back home and she said that ive had chicken pox, mumps and measles when I was little. Im not sure whether or not the doctor put down that I need it or not, just to ask my GP when I see him about the other two shots I need. Do I need to obtain another vaccination record and or some kind of evidence to say ive already had the pox from my GP when I see him?
The weight thing did seem a bit odd to me, just the fact that she was going on about it pretty much all throughout the examination and how she does yoga and all this kinda stuff she was recommending. Could of been just to make conversation while she was taking my blood. Ive never had any medical problems, never been to the hospital once!
Just looking at this from a different angle, you may be aware that the US is going under major health care reform right now (or trying to). Companies are having to pass down expenses to employees and have them pay more out of their paychecks to afford quality healthcare. Therefore many are offering programs to their employees to lose weight or quit smoking to reduce future expense. Even though you may be healthy, it is suggested that there may be longer term problems with high blood pressure, heart attack, etc that could take place. This may go back to the whole managing the expense burden that the USC shows on the I-134 form (whatever it is?). There are many people here without insurance and if anything did happen, taxpayers/hospitals/etc have to eat the cost. Or, she could just be making conversation.
Sure, I don't see how that would be a problem in our case though as she more than meets the requirements of the poverty line and intend to have her put me on her health insurance once im there.

The hell, this sounds like something out of a film.. denied a lawyer and just told to write whatever he says?
Sad and shocking that this kind of behaviour exsists!
Hope you can work through this and everything turns out ok - lots of people here who can give you excellent advice.

Saw my GP today for a psychiatric analysis! Turns out I'm as normal as anyone can be, so he's faxing off his letter and I can finally pass this medical. Hurrah!
Excellent news, well done!
Ive just arrived back from my medical. I went to the ''Bentick mansions'' one. I must say I was a little nervous before going in.
After being buzzed in at the door I went to the counter and was asked to hand over my passport, passport pic and the medical questionare, She then handed me another questionare to fill out whilst I waited in the other room. About 5 mins later another person ushered me into another room and said that I required two shots (mmr + tetnus booster) but that I didn't have to have them now, just as long as I took them before the AOS - which was fine as she told me it would of been £60, whereas im sure my GP will do em for free.
Anyways, next off to see a guy who got me to remove my top and took my chest x-ray, all very easy to do. Once that was done it was off to see another doctor, this time female. She asked if I had chicken pox when I was younger which I said I wasn't sure.. so she told me to check with my GP to find that out, Said that I was overweight (well dur!
) and if I had tried diets etc. I asked her with my ''BMI'' being classed as obese would this be a problem in obtaining the K1, she said no but it'll obviously put the cost of insurance and the like up. After asking a few more routine questions I took the old eye test, then was told to take off my top. After examining me it was down with the old trousers... yep two legs.. then underwear down... yep hot dog... then it was back on the table to take my blood pressure - yep all good. Then was the blood part, had a problem finding a vein but after a few minutes got one and bled me dry
, that was the end, yippie!
The stuff all gets sent to the embassy within 4 days, and if theres anything wrong they'll let me know... so 4 days and counting!
Overall it was a very painless, and something I wish I hadn't of been so nervous about before hand. It raised a few questions for me so if anyone could answer them i'd appreciate it! Ive made a appointment with my GP for next wednesday to get my shots done, and get him to endorse my passport pic + forms for the police certificate

If its any help the time between NOA2 and receiving the ''packet'' 3 letter was around 2 weeks for us.
Also As long as they actually have you in their system you can go ahead and download the forms and book a medical for packet 3. Best thing to do is to ring the Embassy to ask if they have assigned you a case number (usually starts with LND, depends where you live) and if you are indeed in the system and they have received your package from the NVC.
As for the NOA2 expiring, I believe thats what the second letter of intent is for, but im sure someone else can give better advice on that.

Hey,
We've searched but can't seem to find the answer to this one. We're just researching into our next step once I reach the US - Now on the AOS guide on here it states just the fee for the I-485, which looking at the uscis website is $930, but theres also a I-485a form on there which is $1000 - do we need to do both or?
Also it said something about not needing to pay the biometrics fee but I coulden't quite understand what it ment
"4. I-485 - an applicant who does not have to show he or she will not become a public charge for adjustment of status purposes according to section 212(a)(4) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA), as amended.
NOTE: Granting of a fee waiver is at the sole discretion of USCIS."
Would supplying the i-184 as the guide says we need to do with the I-485 mean we don't have to pay the biometrics then?
Sorry, just seems this is more confusing than the rest of the process we've been through so far lol
Thanks in advance

Hi again guys,
We're currently gathering our next pieces together for the interview stage after receiving our NOA2 for our K1 visa process and we are currently trying to fill in the I-134. We've done a bit of research but can't find the answers to a few questions we have, so if anyone could be great enough to shed some light we'd really appreciate it.
Firstly on the form there is only room to fill in one job - my fiancee has two and is both needed to pass the required poverty line - where should we put the second job down?
Secondly, if we are going this route then do we just need two pay stubs as evidence for each job, or would we require bank statements as well regardless?
Lastly on question 10 and 11 can we literally fill it in as shown in the example form on here (obviously changing the name) and put N/A ( K1 visa process for permanent residence ) as its shown in the example form? On another example form we found they had wrote out that the expenses would be room/food/board etc.
Sorry if these have already been asked before, we did do a search beforehand!
Thanks again,
-
