  1. Thank you. Oh, I thought it was 4 months from NOA2 (it says from 'approval' on the checklist)? Oh well, we've sent packet three off now and ticked that box so we'll see what happens. I have heard from alot of VJ people on here that nothing needs to be notarized, not even the letter of intent. Hmmm... confusing

I'm so sorry, that's what I meant (long day yesterday lol). If your interview is more than 4 months after your NOA2 approval then you have to have the notarized letter. At least, that's how I took it. I don't really know. I went ahead and got my letter of intent notarized, but I work with a public notary so it was simple and free for me. As for my fiance, I'm hoping his interview is this month or he'll have to get a notarized letter (if that's what the checklist means) and he hasn't been able to find a cheap place to do it. I have to say, I find the London embassy VERY confusing.

  2. Thanks, I didn't think it sounded quite right either. I just went and checked, it costs the NHS approximately 6.50 to buy a single dose vial, yet the GP is charging 20...it's not just Knightsbridge Medical that are rip-off then!

Yeah, my fiance had his done at his local GP for free. That's crazy they're charging you that much!

  3. Apparently, after much waiting, London have now sent out our packet 3 (on thursday - yaaaay!) so I am putting together the checklist and forms and am confused by one thing on the checklist... 'notarized statement' and a checkbox. What is this??? We have been told by everyone on here that nothing needs to be notarized... is this refering to the letter of intent???

From what I was told and what I researched is that if four months goes by without you sending off your forms showing you're ready for the interview, the foreign fiance would need to provide a notarized letter of intent. I'm sending a notarized letter of intent, but I'm the US citizen. My fiance left that part blank, so hopefully that doesn't screw us up.

  4. And central London is quite good fun late afternoon/ early evening this time of year. All the Christmas lights are on and it's worth a visit to Harrod's just to see their window displays and balk at the wierdos lining up for hours to take their little jems to see Santa there... Just be sure to wear comfy walking shoes

Oh I bet! He said he'll just walk around, I told him to take pictures of the window displays for me! ;)

  5. My fiance finally has his medical tomorrow! Sorry for the random post, but I had to share with people who understand! He's nervous, but he has all the information he needs, so I think it'll go really well. He's taking the train from Liverpool and his appointment is at 2:30pm. Poor guy doesn't get to leave until 8pm, so he'll be in London for awhile before he gets to go back home. Long day for him, but we're excited that this step is almost over with! Still waiting on our interview date, it's been 12 working days (minus the American Thanksgiving holiday) since he sent the paperwork in to the embassy, so if we don't hear by the end of the week we're going to call. Will be sure to post about his experience tomorrow night...want to thank everyone who has, it's really helped us prepare for his appointment. :)

  6. I'm sending things off to my fiance soon for his interview. What are tax transcripts? I have my tax returns and my W-2's, but those are the only things I ever get each tax year. Is a tax transcript the same as a W-2?

I too am curious about the umbrella thing. I'd hate for him to arrive for his interview drenched if it's raining.

  7. Thank you! Man, I don't know what we'd have done without this forum. It's made everything so much smoother for us!

Anytime! I agree, there's no way we would have gotten this far without the help of everyone here and the guides, example forms, etc... I never knew just how hard immigration was until now!

  8. So just to clarify (it's amazing how nerves destroy my common sense...), I do not send DS-230 part 2? Just the first 2 pages of DS-230?

    Sorry for the dumb question!

It's not a dumb question at all! I know how you feel. My fiance filled out both parts of the DS-230, signed part one and left part 2 unsigned. I was told by another member here that they did the same thing and the embassy just pretty much threw part 2 out. We didn't get very detailed instructions from London, so we figure if they don't need part 2, at least we covered ourselves and sent it.

  9. Sorry to take over the topic! Oops!

No need to be sorry, that's what it's here for! I originally started this thread and got great responses, so I'm glad it's helped you as well! I loved reading the recent posts in this thread because my fiance and I have done the same thing. He made several copies of the forms to send to the embassy and to keep for himself! lol We had a mixup on the DS-156 as well! We are waiting for his interview date as we speak. His medical is next Wednesday! I've made several copies of my affidavit of support documents so that I can send duplicates to him, but have a copy as well here. We aren't worried about getting his interview ASAP, obviously we want it here fast so we can get it done, but he has a few bills he's paying off before he leaves the country. It's very exciting to be at this stage of the process! Good luck RussandRachel!

  10. A good thing to do would be to take a couple of pictures to fill in the gap between when you filed your petition and now. Phone records, a few emails, print outs of photos, a few envelopes he's received from you (dates are stamped on them) ... handy to have just in case.

Always plan for the worst case scenario. Chances are that you will not be asked for evidence, but it would stink if you were and you didn't have anything, IMO.

 My thoughts exactly! Better safe than sorry. Thanks!

  11. Hi everyone,

Hope you're having a great Friday evening. I'm putting my documents together to send to my fiance for his interview. I made quite a few copies of pictures of the two of us together. What is the appropriate number of pictures to send? I don't want to send so many that I annoy the embassy, but yet I want to send enough for them to know that we've spent lots of time together. How many have other people sent to their fiances to take to the interview? Thanks in advance for your advice!

  12. Hi all,

Just a couple quick questions about the documents I need to provide with my I-134 affidavit of support form. Should my co-sponsor get a bank letter even though she can prove that she makes enough to show she can provide support? I thought it wouldn't hurt for her to get one. Also, are you allowed to "black out" your social security number on the copies of the income tax returns or should I just leave it the way it is?

    Thanks for any advice!

    ~Anna

  13. Thanks for your advice, gmjdmj! It's good to know how other people have packaged their documents.

Dom, thanks once again for your advice. Thank you for sharing the picture of your paperwork folder! WOW! That's impressive! Now that I know that we can use binders and such, I'm going to start packaging my paperwork! Thanks again!

  14. Hi guys,

I have yet another question. I'm trying to figure out the best way to package all of my support documents, proof of relationship, etc... to send to my fiance for him to take to his interview. I have gotten several two pocket folders that have the three brass brackets down the center. I don't want to hole punch any of the paperwork, but I thought I could put them in clear page protectors and then put them in the folders. I plan on putting dividers in each folder, for example one folder would be all my affidavit of support forms and our co-sponsor's forms and I would place dividers in the folder marking what each thing is. That's as clear as mud I know. I guess what I'm trying to find out is, will the embassy be okay with putting paperwork in clear page protectors? How have others put their paperwork together? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

  15. I just stated "Feb 2010" on my wedding date. Not that my fiance and I have made any actual weddings plans, we can't really do so without knowing when/if visa will be approved-family here need a lot of notice to be able to fly over for a ceremony, and most can only come on certain times of the year. We'll have to get married before we can have a proper wedding celebration. I'm hoping to be able to go over to the US and marry him in Feb, so I figured I might as well put that one down and see what happens. I have heard of a lot of people that have put down particular dates and seem to get interviews sooner than those that don't put anything. Maybe it's just luck, but I figured it couldn't hurt to give it a try.

Oooh good idea! Never thought about doing that, too late now though. My fiance sent off his forms to the embassy this morning!

  16. You can leave the travel date blank. The medical date is a new requirement and I wouldn't leave that off. They will not now do the interview if you haven't had the medical, a recent new rule, but if they will schedule the interview if you leave it blank, those waters haven't been tested yet to my knowledge.

Thanks for the info. Never really thought about that, makes sense. He'll try calling them tomorrow. :)

  17. Hi all,

My fiance is filling out his checklist form to send off to the London embassy and we found that the form wants the date for when he travels, the wedding, and his medical appointment date. We don't know when he will be traveling or when the wedding will be. Can we leave these spots blank? Also, he doesn't have his medical appointment yet, he will be calling down there next week to schedule. We wanted to get his embassy forms sent off this Friday. Do we need to wait until he has his medical appointment, or is it okay to send the form without a medical appointment date written in the appropriate space? Thanks so much!
