  1. I can't believe some of the responses you have had from the PI members...#######!!

    You do not have to stay in an abusive marriage...there are forms of mental abuse it doesn't just have to be physical. he sounds like he has intelligence, surely he understands what he is doing?!

    Something needs to change and it does NOT all have to be you!

    If he is not willing to meet you half way and change some of his expectations of a dutiful wife you either have to be submissive to him or get the hell out!

    I totally agree. If he makes you feel like he's breaking you down, then that does not sound like a loving partnership to me. It irks me when I hear someone saying they are a "bad wife." A marriage is two people: the real question (for me, at least), is 'are the two of you good partners to one another so that you can build a happy life?' You shouldn't have to live in fear of setting him off...

  2. I debated whether or not to respond to this post because it's not anything new, but I just wanted to vent. I want to say that I find it really enfuriating that we all, with genuine relationships who just want to be with our loved one, have to go through inordinate amounts of red tape to do so (!), while there are people who are so flippant about spending their life with someone, just as long as the right criteria are met (citizenship).

  3. Hello everyone, I'm using the guides and have created the cover letter for the I-129F application. I would really appreciate it if someone could look over the list of included items for me and just verify that I'm including all materials. FYI- the "synopsis of meeting within last two years" page essentially has the same information as the supplemental page for I-129F question 18, but it differently references the pages in the packet where the boarding passes, itinerary, passport stamps are found. There are many of these, and I just thought it would help make sense of everything.

    Thanks to anyone who has time and is willing to help! Like many others have said, this forum has been extremely helpful as we navigate this process.

    Cheers!

    - Payment in the amount of $ 455.

    - I-129F

    - I-129F Supplement: Part B, Question 18, explanation of meeting in person

    - G-325A and supplemental sheet “G325A-** Continued.” and passport style photo (**)

    - G-325A and supplemental sheet “G325A-** Continued” and passport style photo (*)

    - Birth certificate (**)

    - Letter certifying intent to marry (from **and *)

    - Proof of having met in person in the past two years, including:

    • “Synopsis of Meeting in Person in Last Two Years: **& **”;

    • “Overlapping Itineraries”;

    • “**-passport stamps, itinerary, boarding passes”;

    • “**-passport stamps, boarding passes, itinerary”; and

    • “Eight photos of the two of us taken within the last two years” (labeled on back)

    - Proof of ongoing relationship (2004-2009), including Verizon Text Message Log for **’s Cell Phone, Skype Call Log, Emails, Mail/Cards, Credit Card Statements

  4. My SO and I postdated some of the letters because we didn't know how long it would take for his original docs to arrive. We ended up using UPS, and they arrived quickly. So, a few of the documents are dated 2/15. The materials are almost done, and I'd like to file on Saturday. Would it be weird to have a postparked date of 2/14 with letters inside dated 2/15? Would anyone even notice? Otherwise, I'll until Tuesday b/c of the holiday. I would prefer to mail on Saturday when I have the time to look through everything and have my mind completely focused on it (hoping to avoid small but costly errors).

  5. [No one can say how a signature should be, my wifes looks like some sort of single letter/scribble. But his signature should be the same as on his passport. It could be a cause for an RFE if there are multiple signatures. Tell him to stop being creative unless he wants to delay the whole process. Now is NOT the time to be playing games or deciding to change his forms of signature. Tell him to grow up and get with the program.

    That is the rudest...most ignorant advise i have ever seen. a persons siggie is their siggie...you cant change that.

    You remind me of an old boss i had who continued to tell me i had to change my siggie bc he couldnt read it. One day he told me i couldnt leave his office until i did so, i thru a chair at him.

    Ironically, he was trying to avoid inconsistency. He said his super-duper scribbly signature has changed over the years, and he believes that it doesn't always look the same. The way he signs it nowaways doesn't look exactly like what's on his passport from several years ago. So, he just wanted to sign in a way that he could consistently replicate over and over and it would look more uniform.

    In fact, we had the following email back and forth:

    Him: I am signing stuff with just my plain old name, not doing my elaborate signature

    cause I want everything to look the same.

    Me: what do you mean? why would it not look the same? i think you should use your signature, however you sign your name. it doesn't have to be elaborate, but however you sign your name usually.

    Him: It looks the same if I just write my name on everything which is a signature, thats what I used to do in the states.

    Honestly, it doesn't make any sense to me, either...why have several signatures? But, he actually thought he was doing the better thing.

    As far as writing the U, it was just an accident (sometimes he has to include the U. b/c his dad is Arturo Clark A.). He generally goes by first name and dad's last name only except in those cases where he has to distinguish. I don't know. I don't want any delays, but I'm just hoping it will be fine and know that he can reproduce the signature if required.

  6. I know the U.S. passport pic guidelines say that the subject should have a "natural expression." Is it okay if you teeth are showing? My SO isn't full out smiling but his teeth are showing a bit. My roommate said she was required to get a new picture taken several years ago when applying for a work permit because her teeth were showing in the picture. FYI--this is to accompany the I-129F application, which I read recently in a few posts is rarely denied due to passport pics.

  7. I wouldn't worry about the way his signature looks. I worked for an optometrist who's signature looked like she just printed it. And also one of my good friends has the same kind of signature.

    Your signature can look any way you like as long as it's what you use all the time.

    As far as one of the signatures being different, not sure what you should do about that. I would probably be tempted to just cross out the U with a pen, like it was done by mistake.

    But, not sure on that one.

    Thanks for the feedback. I'm wondering if just whiting out the last initial that's different from the rest of the forms would be the best option.

  8. I just received my fiance's signed original documents for the I-129F in the mail (325A and letter of intent). I'm freaking out a bit. First, the signature he used basically looked like he just printed his name. He says that's how he signs his name when he's in the U.S. (when he had an F1 visa, etc), but I know it's not how he signs his name in Guatemala. My co-worker saw it and said, "They might not accept that as a valid signature." But, then another said that as long as it's consistent it should be okay. So, I'm wondering about this.

    Second, on one of the copies of the 325a he signed as "Arturo Clark U." with the last initial of his second last name (which he does sometimes). All the others he signed, "Arturo Clark." Why would he sign 3 the same way and one differently? I have no idea. in any case, I'm wondering if this is going to be a problem? He sent me the documents UPS at a pretty penny and now is away traveling in remote villages for a few weeks, so it wouldn't be so easy to resend. Is it better to wait and get the 4th consistent signature and pay $50+ in shipping fees again? Or am I just being paranoid b/c I'm anxious about filing this application? Please advise!
